Hi not flown with delta before, we are flying Northwest airlines out of Heathrow into Miami, then returning from Orlando to Heathrow.

Sorry, didn't read you post. Virgin flys into Gatwick, not Heathrow.

We are flying with Delta (on a NWA codeshare) from Detroit to Heathrow, had a look and the planes and stuff look fine. TBH I'm just expecting a pretty run of the mill kinda flight.

A few years since we flew with them from Manchester to NY and then onto Orlando but absolutely no poblems. Seating, food, entertainment etc etc.

Our connection from Glasgow was late and we were hastily taken by minibus from one end of the airport to the Delta check in. The flight was ready for leaving and when we got on, all the other passengers were seated and waiting to leave. It was only when we sat down that someone told us that they had previously closed the doors and were ready to leave when they re-opened them for 5 late comers!

Now, how many other airlines would have done that

It is Continental that code shares with Virgin.

We flew with Delta in 2006 via New York and will be flying with them again this year via Atlanta. We really enjoyed our flights last time round and they treated us like royalty even though we had super cheap economy tickets.
