Has anyone gate checked at stroller using Delta? We have never gate checked our stroller before, we always checked it with our bags. But we are using ME and when we arrive we are going to check in to BWV and go straight to a park. So if we checked the stroller we wouldnt have it for that day. So I asked the disboard what to do they said gate check. But I have never done this and there is no info on the Delta website, so I am nervous and we leave tomorrow morning at 7am! Help please! ;)

Gate check is easy. When you get to the gate area in your home airport, just go to the podium and get a claim check for your stroller. Then you leave it just outside the door to the aircraft when you board. When you de-plane at your destination (or connecting airport) you wait just outside the aircraft door (please move to the side) until the stroller is brough to you.

we checked our stroller along with about 5 or 6 other people last time. It was ready and waiting for us when we got off the plane. Good luck and have fun!

It is great. We kept dd in our stroller the whole way down the ramp to the plane got her out and left the stroller there. When we landed the stroller was waiting right outside the plane. We put her in the stroller and wheeled her up the ramp. It was so easy. I would never check our stroller with our luggage.

We fly Delta constantly. We check at the gate as well.

As stated, when you get there, ask at the GATE desk for a claim ticket. They'll give you a pink ticket to attach to the stroller. Take the stroller down the walkway to the plane and when you get to the door of the plane, collapse down the stroller (if you haven't already) and leave it in the area just outside the plane. Someone will come up and grab all of them and take them to the baggage hold. If you are at an airport where you walk out on the tarmac (usually a smaller airport) to board the plane, there will usually be someone waiting at the plane to take the stroller from you or there will be a cart for you to put it on.

When you get to MCO, as you leave the plane, the stroller will be right there waiting. You may need to wait a minute depending on how quickly you get off the plane, but they'll bring it right there for you.

If your flight has multiple legs, meaning you have to stop and switch to another flight, you will have to do the gate check for each leg. It won't go through to the next plane. This is nice as then you'll have the stroller in the airport when moving from gate to gate.

Gate checking is a god send!!! Even if your kids are old enough to walk thru the airport and not run around like banshees!! I love having the stroller to put "stuff" in! And gate checking is soooo easy! It's right there when you step off... just pop the kid in and GO!!

Have a great trip!!

Does this only apply to Delta or all airlines? We are flying AirTran and I think I am taking the stroller for my 4yr old. (I hate to pay for rentals, it kills me. )She is not the most energetic and I like a place to put her when she needs it.

We gate checked our stroller on our last trip in November with Delta. It was just me and two kids ages 6 and 2 and very easy. I went to the desk at the gate and told them I wanted to gate check it. They put a tag on it and told me to fold it up and leave it in the area right before you enter the actual plane. When we got off the plane it was right there waiting. Wonderfully easy and so nice to have to push my son through the airport. Also great to have as Magical Express took several hours to bring luggage and we wanted to head out and happy to have the stroller with me.

have fun!
