Deli to replace Boardwalk Bakery later this summer

New Yorker here - I don’t know if I should be excited or scared. People have attempted to replicate NY/NJ style delis with mixed results before.

I think you know the answer if you've ever had a Disneyfied attempt at a regional food before.
My guess would be anything better than a Jersey Mike's is a pipe-dream, BUT, in the world of Disney, that's not doing too bad.

Is the gift shop on the Boardwalk, that sells some bakery items, the Screen Door?
On the map it looks like there several different stores next to each other on the BoardWalk (Screen Door General Store, Disney's Character Carnival and Thimbles and Threads), but once you go in any of the doors, it feels like one big store inside.

I am not gonna lie, while I am sad to see the bakery go, as someone from the area of the deli which they are trying to create here, this is HIGHLY necessary. We love boardwalk, but a lack of quick service spot like this is needed.

As long as they have the muffins and cupcakes return I am happy!

Thanks for posting this!

Just my 2 cents, I’m not that impressed by the menu - but then again I’m not a huge deli sandwich fan.

I agree with others , the Boardwalk desperately needs a quick service option. When we stayed there 8 years ago, we got the pizza window for lunch every day which got tired but we had no other options (as we didn’t want the bakery items and no one felt like walking over to the beach club in the summer heat). But the pizza made my kids happy and I loved the Mickey characters on the pie boxes. I bought one pie for lunch every day. It was good pizza.

I would have loved to see a quick service like Roaring Forks over at WL (before they ruined it with the refurbishment- they always had Mickey waffles in the quick service breakfast and the best flatbreads for lunch/ dinner.)

I figure the Cake Bake shop won't last long. I doubt that many guest will appreciate $20 cake slices.
I think it's going to do fine. It is much more than expensive cake slices.

It is a table service restaurant, a bakery, they do afternoon tea service and private events.

They have salad, sandwiches, quiche, soups, all the desserts and bar.

I think it will be very popular for those looking for lighter meals, add on to wedding/bachelorette parties, Mom & Daughter Afternoon Tea ... and it is HIGHLY THEMED/DECORATED.

might also alleviate any stress of getting afternoon tea reservations at GF (is that back yet?)

Unfortunately this is still the old Bakery menu, they haven't updated the online menu for the deli yet.
Oops, you’re right. I assumed they’d updated it since they posted it with the new Deli page but I should have looked more closely… fingers still crossed for that doodle muffin! :mickeybar

Menu looks good to me. And forget that I wanted crumb cake. They got my Doodle Muffins!!!!

Sorry, @Simba's Mom.... that may have been a false start on my part. @goferrarif1 pointed out that this is still the old menu, just posted to the new Boardwalk Deli page. Here's hoping it sticks around...

According to someone on Twitter, a CM at the Bakery over the weekend told them the Doodle Muffin will not survive the menu change. Fingers crossed the CM is wrong, but if it's true I'm very disappointed....

Is anyone else worried that these will just be like the premade sandwiches that sit in the coolers at the QS's around the Crescent lake loop? They are horrible and I was really hoping for a made to order sandwich shop.
