Sounds like a great day!
I loved seeing the baby pics of the boys! Can't wait til I have my own pics like that...it's so soon!!! Though at the same time, I'm kinda enjoying him being inside me where I know he's safe and I can keep him all to myself and don't have to share.

Enjoy it! I'm oddly kinda jealous. I loved my pregnancies, despite all the issues that went along with them. It was such an amazing time to have them all to yourself, enjoying every little movement, and each tiny -and not so tiny!- kick. Andrew absolutely loved whenever I'd play "Kung Fu Fighting" to my tummy! I don't want any more children, but a part of me is sad that I'll never experience it again. I can totally understand how you feel. It's only going to get better though! Can't wait to see some baby pics, too!

Sounds like a great triple-birthday! Glad you pulled off the cake surprise!

Your mousekeeper was sure creative with the towels. I've never seen toothbrush holders and cars before!

Weren't those towels nifty? I felt kinda funny when I saw our toothbrushes had been moved, but those were pretty cute. The boys said they're bunnies? Those cars caused a lot of trouble though!

June 14th, 2011 * day 38 * Did you know June 14th is flag day?

When I felt guilty about this trip being Andrew focused, it was more than justified. The day after their birthday started with one of two fun adventures just for him. John had him up early and out to catch a cruise.. A pirate cruise! Just as he had at CBR, Andy-Roo was off to search for treasure on the sea. He was super excited about this one, as it made stops at DTD! Sadly, Blakers was just too young at the time. It's on his 4th Birthday wish list though!

I don’t have many details on this one, but the sign-in process was the same as it was at CBR. John would be the only one allowed to claim him later. Andrew was fitted with a life jacket and a bandana and seemed very excited over it all. The CMs instructed the children to divide up and choose a buddy for the journey.

They were teaching the kids to "hide" each time one of the lifeguards would pass by. Maybe it's just me, but this seems like a strange (bad) idea for a game!

When John returned, Blake and I had managed to pack up the room and were ready to leave. We loaded the car and then set out on an adventure of our own. We walked and explored the resort, checking out the super cute gift shop and sights outside. Everything was perfect and this really felt like the resort for us. We began making plans for “when we don’t have APs” to return, simply to enjoy everything POR had to offer. We could have easily filled a relaxing weekend with all that made our list. The boys had already expressed interest in a horse-drawn carriage ride and I knew Andrew would be crazy over the idea of cane pole fishing here. My list went on and we briefly considered sticking around longer, but another birthday surprise was waiting in the parks.

Blake loved being the only child for a bit, and ran around in the lead. John and I followed the little guy, letting him be our tour guide. Our shy little man waved and smiled at the men working on the bridge and every guest we passed. He was finally starting to come out of that shell. It was nice to watch. We both enjoyed a chance to walk hand in hand again, with no strollers or children to keep close in a crowd, too. POR was beautiful for it.

Nearing Andrew’s return time, we decided it would be best to find a waiting spot near picking him up. As we walked along the water, Blake was in awe of everything he saw. There were boats and map signs that needed his full attention, though that attention would’ve been better spent watching where he was walking.

“Blaker, watch out!” I shouted to the little guy.

My call stopped him, but it was too late. Blake tumbled into the stone around some flowers and we both ran to get to him. I feared for the worst with the sound of those screams, but remained calm. I dreaded what I might see on his little face. Scooping him up, we saw his poor little cheek had taken most of the “damage” as Blakers would say. He continued to cry as we checked him out and rushed inside to locate first aid.

Inside the main building, we were approached by a CM almost immediately. I’m sure it was obvious that we were in a bit of distress! She apologized and said that there was no first aid at the resort. That puzzled me, and seemed a little odd. I suppose it’s something I’d never really thought about before. As she and other guests began to show concern, Blakers grew embarrassed and buried his head in my shoulder. The sobbing had since ended and he wanted out of here fast. He’s much too tough of a big kid to cry over falling after all!

The CM offered to call paramedics, but we all decided that would be a bit of overkill for this. He’d fallen hard, but didn’t show any signs to cause worry. John inquired about ice, and she hurried away to gather something for my baby.

I found a seat in the lobby area and cuddled with him. We talked about pictures and the sounds of a cartoon playing behind me. In time, he was smiling again and I knew it was all okay. His little cheek burned a bright red, and I knew he was going to have quite a bruise. Otherwise, he was looking just fine. When the CM returned with a bag of ice the size of his little head, he even began to giggle again. Needless to say, the ice didn’t get a lot of use! I wonder what that woman was thinking. It was huge! A handful of Mickey stickers later, and the tragedy was far from his mind. POR may be a new favorite, but it was definitely dangerous for my babies!

Nearly late to pick up brother from his cruise, John hurried ahead to wait outside. I met him and we both realized that the cruise was running late, too. This wasn’t over until thirty minutes after they were supposed to be back! I was thankful we didn’t have anywhere to be, but some of those parents didn’t look very pleased!

I loved the rocking chairs out here, so we each claimed a seat while Blake waited on the steps. I treated him to another soda before coming outside and he liked going up and down those steps for sips. He’s so fearless sometimes. I was a wreck the entire time! After such a big fall, I wasn’t a fan of him walking on the steps, and quickly ended that game.

Several minutes later, a pirate ship came into view! Everyone rushed the area to pick up their children, but we held back. I loved watching Andrew as he played a pirate.

“I hear brother!”

The little pirates stomped off the ship, shouting as they made their way up. John explained they were instructed at the beginning to make as much noise and stomp as hard as possible. They learned that lesson well! We gathered around to collect our children, but the fun wasn’t over just yet! The CMs in charge were still in the game and took us all into the main building again. They still hadn’t found the treasure!

We all followed along, smiling and enjoying the excitement in the group of children. Inside, they worked together to open a large chest and collected bags of treasure. Sticking around to look through Andrew’s loot by a window, one of the pirate leaders even offered a bag of goodies to Blakers! We caught a picture of them together before they packed the flag away.

The bags contained about the same items as the CBR cruise had, with lots of stuff from Oriental Trading Company! I had to laugh again. The boys spent a few minutes going through their goodies, but it was now lunch time. We needed to get moving and there were more adventures to be had!



A note about those pirate treasures...

Returning home, they dug into those bags again and began to enjoy some ring pops. How perfect for pirate treasure, right? I lost a little more faith in my favorite place when those pops didn’t seem quite right. Inspecting the packaging, they had expired in 2009! I was in disbelief! Someone really dropped the ball on this one. That was two years ago!

I did contact Disney so it could be pulled, and got a reply that it would be looked into. Good enough for me, but I did hope they got to it quickly. That chest was full of bags!

Unfortunately, several weeks later I received a follow-up call that caused me to believe nothing had been done at all. She just then said it would be forwarded on to the resort! I was told that the expired candy wouldn’t hurt them, so I suppose they didn’t really care. Dangerous or not, I couldn’t help but be very disappointed in Disney over this one! Ick! I wonder what else that “won’t make you sick” they’re feeding us!

Don't they look fun? I hope they keep these going, and don't see why they really wouldn't. I was sooo nervous about letting Andrew do this the first time, but he really loved them. Blake can't wait to try it! I'm hoping we can work a pirate cruise for his birthday this year. It's going to be a big one. He can do the cruises, Jedi training, and we reeeeally hope he'll make it to forty inches by June.

The CM I talked to on the phone about the candy was more concerned about how the heat & humidity might be harming it than anything else. I couldn't believe it and couldn't wait to end the call. I think I thanked her for getting back to me about five or six, trying to find a way out because I was shocked by the way it didn't seem to matter. How could they take so long to look into it? I tossed out the rest of the candy in the bags since they didn't have dates at all.

Andrew is definitely mine! He looks just like my family. Poor kid.. I can't make my mind up about Blakers, but I do see John in his eyes sometimes.

Deciding what would be best for lunch, we first went back inside to check out Riverside Mill. While there were quite a few things of interest, another tragedy was discovered. Andrew had forgotten his pirate bandana on the cruise and just couldn’t go on without it. The drama in this one can be amazing at times. He wasn’t fussing or seriously pouting, just being silly to make us smile.. And talk Daddy into hurrying back to the boat to retrieve it!

He and John went outside for that, so Blake and I went on a penny mission. I may not include it in my updates (mainly because I forget when/where we’ve collected them!) but we’d started really working on penny pressing project and it needed a POR penny before we were gone. We found a machine, and chose a goofy design. On the way out, he dropped it! We looked for a short while, but couldn’t find it anywhere. As John is keeper of the pennies, we sadly walked on and forgot about it. Blake doesn’t have the best luck carrying our pressed pennies. This was the second he’d lost!

Outside, Andrew wasn’t able to get his bandana back. The pirate ship was long gone, but the CMs did find a new one for him. It wasn’t nearly as cute, and now Andrew really was sad. Poor guy. He should’ve kept track of his things, but I can understand forgetting it in the excitement of treasure hunting.

We gathered by the water to think about lunch for a moment, deciding to give Blakers full control of our food choices this day. His mind was made up before we even listed a single option.

“Longhorn Steakhouse!!”

Hmmm.. Going off property wasn’t in anyone’s plans this day, and I’d expected something in a park. What an odd choice for a three year old. I guessed this must’ve been due to a commercial he’d seen the night before and did try to steer him towards something in Disney for a moment. His little mind was made up, so we granted his wish and had a quiet lunch away from WDW.

To EPCOT!

Andrew’s second special birthday adventure was set for this park and time was nearing already. We parked and walked in, guessing there was still time for a trip to find Nemo. A crowd of slow walking guests disrupted our path so we took an odd-for-us journey to the left of Spaceship Earth. It worked out great. Andrew had forgotten to grab a DTD map for his room (Yes, he’s covered his closet in Disney maps!) so we could pick one up here. As we walked inside, a CM caught sight of the birthday button and called us near. They had an important phone call!

I’d read about this before, but it was something that had never happened to us. Knowing what was ahead, I was thrilled for them and followed along. A phone was handed down for the boys to listen to a special birthday greeting from Goofy! How awesome! They thought it was incredible and were bouncing up and down in excitement. How did Goofy know they were at Epcot?? I loved it!

We left on our way with another special birthday gift. The CM also gifted FPs for a quick ride on something later. Being Epcot, there weren’t a lot of options for the whole family when it came to FP rides, but it would definitely come in handy for Soarin. We weren’t even considering that ride so late in the day, but now it would be a special birthday treat.

We moved on to find a long wait at Nemo’s ride, but jumped in line anyway. At the end, Andrew put in another Crush request, which I found odd. After finally being picked to speak, Andy-Roo had declared he was done with this one forever. Seeing another long wait ahead and being short on time, we decided it might be time to share the surprise.

“Instead of Crush, how would you like to take a tour?”

“A tour?”

“Maybe.. Behind the Seeds?”

Instant Andrew celebration! He jumped up and down and squealed over this one. My child might be a bit odd. He was thrilled over this!

We all went to the Land and took a ride on LWTL first. Then it was time to split up again. While Blake was old enough for this now, I wasn’t quite sure it would be a good fit for him just yet. Aside from that, I was looking forward to some fun one-on-one time with my baby and knew Andrew would really enjoy doing something just with his dad. They walked over by Soarin to get checked in, and we headed up the stairs again.

I just got back from Disney Sunday night. You know, I always hope for a chance Andy-Roo and Blakers sighting while I am there!
I think the bday cake was perfect! I have heard the Disney cakes are cool, but quite pricey!
Took the 'rents on the Behind the seeds tour a few years ago - it was interesting, but since I had done other backstage tours, it was kinda, EH to me. Hopefully we will have a glowing review from Andrew.

This would've been a bit more, but I have some questions for Andrew first! This day is super light on pics, and not because of computer issues. I don't think I took any at all while I was alone with Blake, and very few the rest of the day. As we went to the parks more, I still kept my camera out a lot, but the number of pics were definitely dropping!

Lucky!! Our year isn't looking very good for WDW. We aren't planning to be back until June, and we're not doing APs again for sure. Busch Gardens (Yuck!), Legoland, and Sea World won 2012. How am I supposed to last SIX MONTHS with no Mickey?? Hope you had a great trip!

The cake was perfect enough anyway! It was still pretty frozen. We've done Disney cakes before, so that's why I didn't want to again. Even keeping it simple, they tend to mess them up and they are so pricey! I think I'm going to get one this year anyway.

Andrew was pretty excited over the tour, after hearing about it soo many times with LWTL. It'll be up soon!

Sorry for another picture-free update!


There was only one little problem with this idea.. I had no idea what to do with Blake! We left the stroller where it was parked and first moved on to visit Figment. It’s a Blaker favorite, and I knew it would give me some time to plan a little better, too!

Leaving the building after some playtime, Blake spotted a sign for Captain EO. All of a sudden, he desperately needed to check it out! It was too silly. I explained what I knew of it to the little guy, and he stuck by the wish. I never expected to be doing this one, but admit it made me smile. Daddy and brother were trying something new and now, so were we!

Settling into the theater, I tossed my bag down on the seat beside me and Blake hopped on top. Wow. He loved feeling like a big kid in his own seat, instead of being on mommy’s lap. Pure genius. The show started and a huge smile covered his little face. Blake thought this was awesome! I never expected that he would be such a big Captain EO fan at all! He was glued the entire, and had nothing but good things to say after. All the crazy characters were perfect for him. He actually wanted to see it again!

As for me.. Wow. This show was crazy! I do love Michael Jackson. We share a birthday after all. So much of it had me laughing though! It made almost no sense to me, but I think I was a fan, too. It was excellent! This is something I’d never have picked to do, so I’m really glad Blake opened my eyes to a new experience at Disney.

After the show, I still wasn’t so sure of what to do. I gave him some options, guessing that El Rio Del Tiempo would probably be where we’d end up. It wasn’t something he’d done very much and he was in agreement at first. We started walking towards WS, but the little guy was distracted by nearly everything! Squirrel, bird, and flower appreciation filled much of the journey. Who needs a pirate cruise or special tour anyway? Being free with just mommy to slow down and walk wherever you want in Epcot was incredible for Blakers! It’s the little things when you’re such a little guy and I loved every minute of it.

At our slow pace filled with stops, Mexico wasn’t going to happen before the tour was over if we kept up like this. We made it almost all the way to WS before deciding to turn back. This time, I had an idea for a brand new-to-us experience.

I took Blake directly to Club Cool! Everyone goes to Club Cool, it seems, but we’d never tried it. Despite how filled with soda this trip seems, my boys rarely have the stuff. I thought it might be fun to finally try out all the options. Blake was thrilled at the idea of sampling some drinks and insisted he’d try “each one, two times!” I wasn’t so sure about that plan!

Inside, it was very full of guests and the floor was crazy sticky! Ick. We waited for a turn but then found some empty space near another exit, I think. I remember being confused by the strollers I saw, not realizing there was an entrance that wasn’t those stairs! While Blake fully intended on trying everything, he only managed three before needing a potty break. I no longer remember which, but I picked what I thought he’d like first. Of them, the Kinley from Israel was a huge hit. He drank the entire little cup, but rejected the other two after a sip. I couldn’t bring myself to do the Beverly trick on the little guy. Knowing Blakers, I bet he’d end up liking that one!

A short restroom detour and we were back to the Land. John and Andrew would be due to finish their adventure soon! Blake and I grabbed a bottle of juice and found a table to watch for them..

I had a goal to get the TR done as quickly as possible for a few days. It didn't quite work out though. They did have a nice birthday. I can't believe we're planning for the next one already! It seems like the parks are changing so much lately. We're going to be lost!

It wasn’t long before Andrew ran up to our table, a huge smile across his little face. Behind the Seeds had been a huge success for him and he couldn’t wait to share some details. He first had to show off these name tags!

Having that simple Mickey tomato drawn on his name sticker was HUGE for Andrew! It’s one of the first things he brings up whenever someone mentions the tour. It’s adorable. They both loved that John had gotten ladybugs, since mommy is terrified of them of course!

The tour had gone great. Only one other family was part, a mother and a boy older than Andrew. This meant Andrew got extra attention, something he’s always thrilled about! He apparently had really impressed the CM with some of his questions and was often asked if he was sure about his age. “How is he only four?” He gets that a lot. I wish John had remembered some of them!

My notes on the tour are all from the mouth of Andy-Roo so I’m sure I’m missing a lot of what happened. John took quite a few pictures, but they’re still trapped, of course. He didn’t remember quite as much as Andrew, which made me wish I’d gone along. I think it’s pretty fun to see just what my brand new four year old took away from the experience anyway!

Before he began, I asked Andrew if I should try it in the future. His answer was sweet..

“The nametags are very interesting, but the tour is actually the fun part! You learn a lot and get to go inside the ride.. but not in a boat!”

I knew that part would be huge for him! Haha.. He felt so special when he saw a boatload of guests floating by him!

Andrew then talked of how impressed he was with one particular plant they saw. It had leaves that fold up for protection. Anyone know what this is? John can’t remember now, but I do know they found a plant to show me when we were back home. I’d never heard of such a thing and found it nifty, too!

"This is me getting a tiny capsule of baby ladybugs!" - Andrew

Near the start of the tour, they were given a little bottle of ladybugs and learned how they’re helpful when it comes to “bad” bug control. While he already knew this, Andrew gave me quite the lesson on why I should LOVE ladybugs and not be afraid of them. He’s too sweet, but I’m still not convinced. They’re scary!

He had to “wake up” the little bugs and they were later released in part of the LTWL ride. Of course, he had to be careful while in this portion of the tour and not step on the sand. He said it was sanitary and special sand. Keep to the cement! Andrew was proud to know he was now making the ride experience better for everyone by releasing them. No annoying aphids would be hurting those plants!

"I am learning about bugs that eat the plants and how ladybugs help fight them." - Andrew

They heard lots about how plants grow and how to protect them from those silly aphids. Andrew was in love with the word “aphid” that day and used it as often as he could. Haha.. I think I’m doing the same in this update. He also got to see how Mickey shaped veggies are made and sampled some cucumber along the way. It wasn’t Mickey shaped, though he didn’t mind. (Isn’t there a picture of this up on LWTL somewhere?) I wonder if you can buy those molds anywhere. I’d love to get him one!

They also learned about Hydroponic Gro-tanks and how Disney grows plants without soil. That would be one thing Andrew was upset that he couldn’t recall the name of, but he was given instructions to bring home and make our own. He thought the idea of growing a plant with no soil was incredible, but I’ve managed to lose that sheet while working on this update. Uh oh! (I’m sure it’ll turn up on my desk soon enough!)

At one point, they were asked to smell several different spices and guess what they were. Andrew said the cinnamon was super easy, but some surprised him.

I don’t know when he took this picture, but I had never noticed it said “EPCOT” before!

One of the biggest highlights of the experience for him happened when seeing the fish and alligators.

Andrew got to feed the fish! He’s been asking me to start an aquarium for a long while, so this was a big deal. When he dropped the food down to them, they went nuts! He loved how they all splashed around to get to it first.

For his excellent fish food dropping skills, Andrew was given a Magical Moment card before they left the tour. He loved that it was stamped “Fantastic Fish Farmer” and treasures this so much.

Another notable moment for him was simply watching the shrimp. These weren’t just any shrimp, they were “huge, huge shrimp” and he couldn’t believe they got so big. Silly kid.

By the end of it, Andrew was excited to plant so many things. He was taught how to stack pots to grow lots of different things in a small space and planned we’d do it at home. “It would look so cool!” were his thoughts on the idea! We haven’t gotten to it, but I think it’ll happen soon enough. I’d forgotten about it until now!

Overall, this tour was excellent for him and one he said he would like to do again someday. Andrew is big on learning and growing things, so it was a perfect activity. I was so glad he had a great time!

We already have Sea World passes. It is not the same.

They are having kid concerts there the next few Saturdays. Yesterday they had Lazy Town. Was not the original people. Sigh. I was hoping for at least the real Sportacus!

Next week is Max and Ruby.

He absolutely loved doing that tour. I hope to do some of the other tours with him in the future. He's gotten excited about everything I've read to him so far. It'll be a while before Blake can handle stuff like this though. He definitely acts more his age than Andrew ever did so the interest might take a little longer.

I had read that there was a touring group for Lazy Town, so I guess this was it.
I think the Doodlebops are the same. I used to feed my four-month-old daughter her breakfast while watching them.

Now she is seven and not interested.

The tour sounds like a good time! I'm with Andrew...the Mickey tomato on his name tag is fabulous! Andrew seems so smart and precocious! I'm sure a conversation with him would be very interesting!!

I think that tour was GREAT for him! I bet it was a much better tour than when I took it!! Man, we didn't get to feed fish!
Now, how are we not friends on FB? hmmmm

That stinks! I assumed everyone fed the fish and it wasn't anything particularly special for the tour. We did play it up a lot for Andrew though!

Don't worry about FB. You're not missing much of anything. I mainly keep it going to keep up with John's older children. For that reason, I do try not to mix it up beyond close friends and family. Besides, you'd know what happens next if you saw my pictures!

I had read that there was a touring group for Lazy Town, so I guess this was it.
I think the Doodlebops are the same. I used to feed my four-month-old daughter her breakfast while watching them.

Now she is seven and not interested.

Good to know! I think I will try to talk John into that weekend but he's wanting to check out Busch Gardens first. Are they still on television? I could totally do their "Get on the bus" dance even today.. Not that I would!

He definitely is! It stinks that John couldn't remember anything he'd asked about. Andrew always says the oddest things. I hear again and again that he talks more like a little adult instead of a five year old. It's kinda wild, but I'm proud of my little man. I think I'm bragging too much though.
