Delays and cancellations at MCO

For a transatlantic flight like that, I'd definitely take the longer layover. More peace of mind and more 'wiggle' room if something goes wrong.
I'm probably over compensating, but I'm still traumatized from experience getting to and from Orlando in July.

Just read this:

“Flights will be slashed by 10% in 40 major cities across the US starting Friday morning as the federal government grapples with the ongoing historic shutdown — likely leaving millions of flyers in the lurch.” (Friday, November 7th)

FAA says airport list to be released Thurs following a meeting with airlines. All air traffic is getting slashed, not just passenger planes (cargo, business, space launches too). link

I flew out of MCO on SW 11-9. We boarded timely for our 9am flight but spent a lengthy time queued up on the runway. The pilot said that the airport was down to one runway. We were supposed to have a two hour layover at ATL but just made it in just as our connecting flight was boarding.
