Defective Dooney & Bourke Purses

uh oh....i just ordered a DB wristlet last night from disney store online for our upcoming cruise. I hope I don't have any problems with it. I will keep all reciepts. I should have checked the boards first. Oh well, here's hoping that mine will be okay!!

Sounds like another well made product from CHINA!..........but I don't know that for a fact, just judging from all the other poor craftsmanship in products we get from there!

Yet, as silly Americans we keep buying the junk!

Try buying USA, even if it costa a bit more, The job you save maybe your own!

Actually these were assembled/made in Mexico. Or that's what the tag on the purse in the ship's store said.

The red on mine and my daughter-in-laws is coming off also. I will have to see if I have the receipts. I just bought the $395 one on the ship and there is a card in that one to register it online.

You should be able to send the yellowing bag back to D&B for repair/replacement. As far as the charm, I haven't seen any with charms, except a couple of styles have the D&B Duck on a leather loop. The strap, if it was supposed to come with one and didn't, D&B may be able to help you out there, too.

I called it a charm because I didn't know what to call it but it is the thing on the leather loop. I don't really care about the strap since I wouldn't ever wear it with the shoulder strap anyways. I think I may try to get mine repaired/replaced if possible since I really love that bag.

Not all the DCL or WDW/DL bags have the duck on them. My D&B leather bag did not, they don't put them on all of them.

I think the only Disney Dooney collections without either a duck or a heart dangle are the brown tonal bags and the new balloon bags (although depending on when and where you purched, some folks did get hearts with their balloon bags).

I am having the same issue...
And even though i hate that this is a problem i am soooo glad i am not alone in this.

I purchased my bag on our Jan 22 cruise and last week i realized this was coming off....i actually though it my fault as when i get to work i hook my key to my car around the straop ....BUT i was still upset when you pay that much for a purse, you should be able to hook a key to it.

I have the smaller bag and have had no problem.

I will NEVER purchase an expensive bag again.
THis was my second and had never been a priority to me before and now is not again.

SO HAPPY TO SEE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT "shopped" for the right placement of characters etc on the bag.

At this point i dont know if i am going to send it in or not i may just peel off all the red as half is now off any way and seal it myself. DOnt know if i want to go to all the trouble.

Although if i can register it in case it yellows an i can return it later i may OR i may get my money back and use it to eat at PALO on my next cruise.

UUGHHHHH what to do.................

Does anyone have a photo of what exactly is peeling? I think I know what you're talking about, but am not totally sure. Actually, I would love to see photos of any of the issues: the peeling, or the yellowing, or the bubbling of the patterned part, etc...

Has anyone received their "repaired" bags?

I FINALLY received my repaired bag on Tuesday. They did indeed repair the zipper and sent me my same bag back. This makes me very happy, as I loved my pattern.

I have 2 D&B purses (my tonal Mickey letter carrier, and the one that I had to get repaired - the purple Theme Park sketch, also letter carrier), one DCL wristlet, and the make-up bag with Mickey balloons. I have had no problems with the straps on any of them. I for one plan on getting my next one next year on my June 2012 Fantasy cruise (I would love to get one of the Inagural Year ones). Yes, it is disappointing that they do need repaired, but I look at it from a different perspective -- excellent customer service!! All I had to do was ship the purse back, I was reimbursed for the shipping ($12.05 for USPS Priority mail, insurance, and delivery confirmation), and my purse was repaired and sent back. Yes, it took forever (I think 6-8 weeks, closer to 8), but in the end, the product is back and the customer is happy!!!

I've been following this thread for awhile. We will be on the Dream in Sept. Just curious.....do ALL the D&B Disney cruise handbags have the peeling problem with the red lining? What I mean is, are all D&B's lined the same? I was wondering if there is a Disney Dream cruise one in a certain style that might not have that lining problem. I only own one D&B purse and it has a fabric lining.

I bought a DCL D&B bag in June, 2010. The red "sealant" on the shoulder straps is now peeling off.

Hmm, guess I just got confused. There are a few people talking about peeling handles, a couple talking about broken zippers, and a couple more about the lining or the outer waterproof shell separating from the bag. Sounds like a disaster! I REALLY want one of the inaugural purses though. Are the straps on ALL the bag sizes peeling or just certain ones?

I think some people are talking about the DCL sketch purse and others are talking about other DB purses. The majority of complaints with the DCL sketch purse (not the inaugural purse) is the red sealant on the straps.

I have the second to largest bag (not counting the new duffle) and the handles are peeling. I use that as my primary bag. Since June, 2010, it has been used 80% of the time so has gotten a decent amt of wear and tear. That's still not an excuse for peeling sealant but at least the company is standing behind the product.

I also have the wristlet and use that for my cell phone. It has been used 100% of the time since June (meaning I throw it in my larger bags and take it out to carry by itself if need be) and I haven't had any problems with it.
