We are going to be in Orlando June 4-11th and want to go deep sea fishing. I have been a couple times from other cities, but not Orlando. Is it better to go to the east coast or the gulf? Does anyone know of a great place to go or charter or company to use? Please give me any suggestions. Thanks! :earsboy:

Saltwater fishing in Florida, as you may know, is broken down into two major categories. There is shallow water and nearshore fishing, where you are likely to catch redfish, sea trout, snook, and tarpon. Offshore is where you'll catch tuna, sailfish, or dolfin. There is some in between and overlap, such as nearshore reefs where you would catch grouper, amberjack, snapper,...

What type of fishing have you done before? I do a lot of research on Florida saltwater fishing at www.floridasportsman.com.

Well, I guess you would call it mostly in between. It seems like the times I've been out, We've gone out about an hour before we started fishing. Caught lots of red snapper and grouper. Always been on the gulf side though. Wasn't sure which was best. I'd love to tangle with a sailfish. That sounds great! I bet that is quite a bit more expensive though. :earsboy:

One thing to keep in mind, it's quicker to get from WDW to the Atlantic than to the Gulf.
