I have talked to 4 Disney reps. They each gave me run-around answers on what I hoped were simple questions. I want, in spite of the warnings of divorce and death etc. as mentioned here, to put myself, DW, DS, DDin-law, DD and DSin-law on the Deed of the re-sale we are buying since we are spliting the cost. First, can we have six names on the deed? Second, if so will all six of us get membership cards entitiling each of us to get AP's and all other member benifits?
If we can not put or get six "full" member card status or instead just choose three or two names, can these deeded member's spouses get AP's and other benifits as a spouse if they are not named on the deed vs. the limited benifits of an associate member.
Wow, is this confusing or is it just me!
Once I get this figured out with your help we will be sending in our contract and will post our "deal":)

Honestly, my personal opinion is that you should all purchase your own memberships (the three couples). I would definitely consult with a PA attorney as far as the legalities of joint ownership of property among the 6 of you. I strongly suspect the bad will outweigh the good. For example, in the event of financial problems (outside of divorce and death) a lien can be placed on the ownership to satisfy debt against any one of the 6 of you. My advice is definitely get legal advice.

DVC is deeded like any other property. It can be deeded to trusts, it can be deeded to corporations, and to individuals, couples, etc. I don't see why it couldn't be deeded to six people if that is what you desire.

It seems you are aware of the risks involved, those of death, bankruptcy, divorce, etc. Do not consider those associated problems lightly, remember that the ownership interest can not be divided, it is all or nothing in every situation.

I wouldn't be shocked, though, if Disney simply exercised ROFR on a contract that was to be deeded to so many individuals. Especially if you are looking at a fairly small contract just to get into the system for the benefits. Disney is under no obligation to disclose why they exercise ROFR on any particular contract.

I've heard four and six, you should likely talk to Disney legal to see what they will allow. Spouses and other relatives at the same address as a member will get the AP discount but not necessarily the other member benefits. If you're aware of the risks and it's not a large contract, I'd still only do so if you can get a significant benefit from the perks. Two other risks you didn't mention are that if ANY of these people get in financial trouble, you will lose the contract. The other is that if any of the people listed are in or going to school and planning loans, scholarships or grants, this would count against them more than if say their parents owned it.

We have on our deeds, my name, my husband and my daughter. I wanted to make sure that she (and her family) got all of the same perks. Since she is an owner, all of the perks she gets extend to her family. All 3 of us have membership cards and since she has a different address she gets all information and gifts separate from us. She got her own vacation planner and 15th anniversary picture, even though we are one account. I saw no need to put my SIL on the deed. She and her family all get AP discounts. While I have other children, I saw no need to put them on our deeds because they are really not interested in Disney or vacations with us. They are all well aware of this situation. I personally would only put your children on the deed and leave their spouses off (as they will still get the discounts because of their spouse being a member). While no one can tell you what is best for our family, only you can make this decision. I had no hestitation of putting my daughter on my account--the only problem we have is everytime I add on (4 adds on) she has to sign all of the documents with us.
