Dedicated December Exercise Thread

39 minutes for me today

237/1000

it was about a high of 10 today. these cold temps don't exactly inspire me to want to move too much. The winter is a tricky is a time indeed.

Hello everyone! I've been MIA so far this month as we got through our Nutcracker performances. All went fabulously, but between rehearsals, 6 performances, and a cast party for 3 dd's I pretty much shut down the rest of my life around this time of year! This year was particularly crazy though, because my Girls on the Run team also finished up their season and ran their 5K on Saturday morning and I took charge of decorating the cast party for 100 dancers and their families. Not my best planned year!!! But, it all worked out! ;) I did get in a little exercise! Managed a 60 minute walk one day, and a 60 minute step/abs workout another day. I'm also counting the 30 minute run that my friend and I did to get more salad in the middle of the cast party last night! That should get me on the board with 150/900. I've enjoyed catching up and reading everyone's holiday traditions! So many great one!! This was our 5th Nutcracker - so this crazy first week of December starts off the season for us every year. Another tradition we have is collecting silver bells. My husband and I purchased our first silver bell together when we were dating. Now, we have about 23 years of silver bells in our collection! Each one different. When the kids move out, we will be able to have a tree entirely decorated in silver bells!

Congrats on the show! And the silver bell tradition is beautiful. What a wonderful way to look back on all the years together. I'm sure each silver bell has a story of its own, if that makes sense. Enjoy having more time now! :)

So today I ended up getting out of rehearsal much earlier than expected. All I had to do was a makeup trial for scarecrow and tin man, and supervise the aging makeup for Ms Gulch. All went very well! My colleague, who is a professional makeup artist, tried out the makeup for lion and it came out amazing. The set looks amazing, the orchestra sounds excellent. All is going well and we were able to leave early so I got home at 5:00, changed right into my workout clothes (took advantage of the fact that my boys were at Hebrew school this afternoon), and did a 15-minute HIIT workout followed by 20 minutes of yoga. Knowing I'm not going to be able to exercise again until Sunday, it felt great to squeeze in another 35 minutes. Plus I felt a lot of the pressure of this week melting away...not to sound cliche lol.

Now I'm ready to take on this week...full dress rehearsal tomorrow with full makeup for all leads, DS9 is rehearsing with the cast tomorrow (first time in his munchkin costume), and Wednesday here we go! Preview show Wednesday morning for some elementary school classes coming to us on a class trip to see part of the show. That means that between that and the afternoon opening at 3:30, I'm only teaching 1 out of my 5 classes. But I will certainly be very busy all day, busier than I would be teaching all my classes lol. But I love it. This is a very good kind of busy for me. :)

I managed to get in 15 min of exercise last night. Been hit with a cold. NO!!!! Felt like :headache: but had to do :laundy: and :badpc:. This better go away in the next 9 days before our magical Disney trip and no one else in the family is allowed to catch it!!! pixiedust:

We're awesome!

So as a team lets get to know each other a little more - where are you from, what's your current living situation (married, kids, single, student etc) and how did you choose your user name?

I'm married with two kids - both girls 12 and 8 and we have 2 cats and 3 fish (soon to be 5 fish!). I live in Vancouver BC Canada and my nickname is dizzy which I got many many many years ago at a Guns n Roses concert - my friend and I overheard these two drunk guys talking to each other and they were calling each other weird names which sent my friend and I into a fit of giggles and on the way home we were imitating them and she called me dizzy and the name stuck! My maiden name starts with r so I added that and it's been my username on almost everything for over 25 years!

Yeh! I did 20 min of cardio and 20 min of yoga. I wasn't expecting to feel up to that. 200/1000

Whoops! Forgot to answer my particulars. I am married and have one kiddo- a wonderfully sweet smart little 6 yr old boy who I love to pieces! He tries my patience and makes me laugh. :) my screen name comes from my favorite ride from when I was a kid at Wdw in the 90s.... So that would be the original figment ride. I still love the concept of imagination. Even if the pavilion isn't what it used to be.

31 minutes walking today ... brings my total to 383/1000

Getting to know me...
I'm from NY, lived here almost all my life (still live within 1 mile of the house I lived in when I was born)
Live with my parents and younger (by 2 years) brother
My username is because my name is Sarah and I like Disney ... it's so uncreative, but it works.

35 minutes today. Bringing me up to 225/600. I'm going to try for two mile and a half walks tomorrow.

I'm married for 13 years and we have two sons, ages 7 and 9 (my big one will be 10 on January 7th). We live in a quiet neighborhood in Brooklyn called Marine Park. Yes, there are quiet neighborhoods on NYC lol! I've lived here all my life except during college when I attended University of Maryland at College Park. I got my user name because I'm a huge fan of the old TV show "The Honeymooners" and it is a famous quote that Ralph Kramden says to his wife Alice frequently. And my birthday is June 8th and I was born in 1977. My husband and I met freshman year of high school, we were friends for about a year and a half then we had a fight and stopped speaking for 7 years, when I was teaching at our old high school and he started subbing there. We became inseparable and were engaged in less than 6 months after getting back in touch. We were married 16 months after we got engaged. I no longer teach at our old high school. I taught there a total of 9 years, then switched to my current school in 2008. I teach Italian and sometimes I also teach Spanish, depending on what they need me to teach. I am in charge of a student run musical production, and I do hair and makeup for our big musicals.

30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, that brings me to 345/1000. Tonight is my regular yoga night but I did so much core on Monday that it feels like little gnomes are trapped in my stomach and they are cutting there way out! So I think I'll take a rest day :cloud9:

A little about me, I live in western NY, smack dab in the snow belt. I hate the cold and snow and would love to move but my whole family lives here so I'm not going anywhere. I'm married and have 2 kids, DS (13) and DD (11). I met my husband in college, we dated for a few months and had a " not so nice " break up. I moved to South Carolina, got engaged and moved back to NY a few years later. after a year or so, me and my fiancé broke up ( I must be hard to get along with,:confused3 ) and he moved back to SC. I had a chance meeting with my husband, he was now a school teacher and bartending in the summers, I happened to walk into the bar he was working at - and it's all history from there. He's since left teaching and is a firefighter. I love being a mom! whoever said boys are easier, never met my son! ha. He really teaches me a lot about myself and how to exercise patience. He is so smart and is ALWAYS looking for the "loophole". My daughter is such a kind heart, someday I hope to be just like her! About a year ago she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, so we are still trying to deal with that. My screen name comes from the love of tinkerbell! She's a sweetie with a little bit " naughty" sprinkled in.
Looks like a blizzard outside today? May need to change my plans and cancel my shopping trip today. Have a great day!

Only adding 30 minutes since last posting...Christmas decorating and prep kinda took over this past week. 145/900 so far. Seems NY is the place to live! We live on Long Island, but DH and I grew up in Queens, only moved one county further out on Long Island. 2 grown sons for us, no grand kids yet. One son (who was a Disney College Program and CM for a few years) is married. Belle is my favorite Disney character, so that is why I am who I am.

PS, any of you NYers going to the Moments with Walt Disney this weekend?

Haven't checked in for a while.

278/1000 I'm really struggling this month.

I'm married and have two daughters one nearly 20 and another 15, a sophmore in college and a sophmore in high school. Fun fact about me is that I met my husband at a homeless shelter. It's a fun thing to say because people never know what to say. It's either, "gee Heather, I didn't know things got that bad for you" or "oh, how nice, you married a homeless man."

People never consider that I was volunteering with a college group and he worked there.

I've spend most of my professional life working in higher education. Currently I work at a small private college in Unity, Maine.

Bangzoom6877 - I love how you got your name. I wish mine was that creative. Mine is just from my first (Heather) and last name.

And YEAH for being at 100% participation! THAT's AWESOME!

Found out Monday at the Dr. that I have shingles. Hopefully we caught it early enough that it won't be too terrible.:sad2:

Adding three nights worth of walking -
Monday - 30 minutes
Tuesday - 70 minutes
Tonight - 25 minutes

310/900

I'm married, live in the (deep) south and have three children - two girls in their twenties and a 13 year old son in the 7th grade. One DD lives in NY and is still a seasonal CM in the Magic Kingdom after doing the college program. It's getting tougher for her to work the required 150 hours. My username comes from the fact that when I joined the Disboards, my son was watching Swiss Family Robinson every night before he went to sleep. We all love that movie!

Oh no! I hope you have a mild case and that because you caught it early it's not too bad. Some people it isn't bad at all. Others, like my mom, really suffer. If you end up falling into latter, take it easy on yourself and know that eventually you'll feel better. Sending lots of pixie dust and hugs to u!

25 minutes from last night brings me to 250/600. We shall see what I get in this afternoon and evening. I try to do a mile a day at least. But as I get that mile quicker will be doing more. May get 1 1/2 miles today at the park since I didn't make it last night to park just walked around blocks till we reached 1 mile.

70 minute walk/run
It was cold and slippery (from yesterday's light snow), so not a fun walk/run, but I did it, and that's what matters.

453/1000

I love seeing all the New Yorkers represent!

hmack - I'm either too nice or a snob, because when I saw that you met your husband in a homeless shelter, I just assumed you were both volunteers there or something.

Managed to fit in 30 min today so I think I'm at 230/1000. Oh man, I'm gonna have to find 20 more minutes- I'd like to change colors!
