We visited WDW the Monday after Thanksgiving and stayed at POR. We spent most of our time on a tour of the resorts to look at the decorations. We saw the BoardWalk, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and lastly the Wilderness Lodge. The WL was our favorite. The lobby is always awe-inspiring when you enter but this time there was this huge tree in the center soaring towards the roof. It was loaded with decorations appropriate to WL. As we looked up at the tree we also noticed garlands decorating the railings on the various floors. There were large wreaths hanging on the walls near the doors facing the pool as well as in various hallways. I noticed that these wreaths were themed for WL. In the center of each one there is a moose antler. I inspected one hanging at eye level near Roaring Fork and noted that the decorations included small covered wagons, cowboy boots, bird feathers, and some wild flowers. Some of the garlands also had chains of Indian beads on them. In all we very impressed.
It is also worth a trip to see the decorations at the Grand Floridian. When you get off the monorail and are walking across the bridge to the front door, be sure to look over the railing. There are raindeer fashioned from sticks and painted white grazing in a field of red poinsettias. Inside there is a huge tree with Victorian-style decorations as well as an abundance of other wreaths and garlands. On the main floor there is a large gingerbread house. It is so large that there is a small gift store inside. I understand that it was a big task to bake all of the gingerbread that was used on the roofs and walls. The decorations in the resorts and parks truly make this a magical time to visit WDW.
