Decorating your resort room?

I wouldn't think that would be a problem since the glue is not liquid when it is cold.

Have a great trip!

Thank you. My concern was not the "glue" part, it was the "gun" part... the fact that its shaped like a gun. I called the TSA after I made my last post and asked them if I could bring a glue gun in my carry-on(I was so curious and couldn't wait for an answer here). They said it is okay.. just not the glue sticks. I think the person I was speaking to didn't understand that they are not liquid glue. I'm going to bring some glue sticks in my carry-on as well as my regular luggage, just in case.

Less than 24 hours till i go.. I can't wait! :thumbsup2 I'll post pictures of my window here when I get back!

Oh I never thought about the glue gun itself! Good for you checking with TSA, better to be safe than sorry! I think your right about the person not realizing the glue would not be liquid, I bet your sticks will get through no problem!:thumbsup2

Can't wait to see how your window turns out!

So glad I found this thread! I never ever would have thought about decorating our window. We are leaving Saturday and I just found this thread two days ago. It was a huge rush, but I had plans in my head after reading lots of other posts. I made black Mickey Heads (made them since I could not get to Home Depot, :rotfl:). I was able to find Disney font and I put each of our names in a Mickey Head. I also made big and little lime green heads. I got red bows, red beads, snowflakes, and white lights. I couldn't find any Disney clings, but I did find Disney gift tags that are bigger than normal. I can't wait to decorate. If your at POFQ's next week, look for my window.

So glad I found this web site/forum. It's so wonderful! :love: I'm lacking much sleep since I found it, but I'll do enough of that when I die! :lmao:

Went to local Walgreens today and there is all sorts of fun Disney decorations out. I bought a red and white Mickey head that lights up! So cute! I will be decorating my room at CBR the first week of December. Enjoy!!!

Hi all -- I'm editing the next edition of the Fodor’s Walt Disney World guide, and after spending last week at some of the Orlando parks with my family, I came back wanting to include more of your comments in the book. While I went into this trip with good advice from my writers, I’m now more convinced than ever that behind every ride or show or situation at these parks is yet another tip waiting to be discovered.

I would love to know which rides and attractions you liked best and what tips you might have about them, based on recent visits to any of the following:

--- the Walt Disney World parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom);
--- the Disney water parks (Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach);
--- the Universal Orlando parks (Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios);
--- SeaWorld;
--- Discovery Cove;

Last week was our third time in Orlando as a family and our first with our youngest child (I've got daughters 8 and 5 and a boy, 18 months). This time around we only got to Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and SeaWorld.

Here are my family's favorite things from last week:

--Soarin' (The Land, Epcot). We Fast Passed this one (it’s almost a given that you’ll have to unless you line up for it shortly after rope drop) but the twist was that when we returned at our designated FP time, I got a Rider Switch ticket from one of the attendants. This permitted me to ride with the girls while my wife watched the baby, and as I exited the ride she gave me the baby, I gave her the girls, and she was able to walk into the Fast Pass line with the ticket and the girls and ride with them. The rider switch trick is unofficially known at Disney as Baby Swap (Universal’s version is called Baby Exchange) but no matter what you call it, it always pays to ask the attendants if rider switches are available for any given ride. In this case, Soarin’ lives up to its hype and your kids will love doing it twice.

--Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom). We liked that each person on the ride had a job --- my 5-year old controlled the spinning and my 8-year old and I shot at the targets. The targeting wasn't that hard and the spinning wasn't so jerky that you'd regret having breakfast (though for good measure we kept the baby off it). Before 11am there was no line, so I was able to ride with the girls once and my wife took them immediately after. At 11:01, it seemed, a huge line materialized.:cool1:

--Playhouse Disney (Animation Courtyard, Disney's Hollywood Studios). They just retooled and reopened this one with characters from current Disney Channel shows. My 18-month old got so excited I thought his eyeballs would explode. Too bad he won't remember it. Get on line at least 20 minutes before to get a good place (you’ll be sitting on a carpeted floor) near the stage.:dance3:

--Epcot Character Spot (Innoventions West building, Epcot). My daughters were really into the autograph book signings this time and IMHO (which didn't count in this and most other cases) wasted a lot of time lining up for individual characters. At this location, we waited on one line for about 20 minutes and within the next ten minutes got passed to five different characters for hugs and autographs. If you've done time in line for a single character you know this averages out pretty well.

--Blue Horizons (SeaWorld). We had blown this one off the last couple trips but the mix of dolphin tricks and circus acts was a nice combo that all three kids (and the adults) liked just as much as the Shamu show. For Blue Horizons we showed up after it started and still saw fine from our perch up in the bleachers.

I thank you in advance for any recommendations and tips you have along these lines, and I will do my best to get as many of them as I can into the book. I’m also going back to the parks in November, so I personally appreciate all the good tips I can get!

Thanks,

Quick question for you pros. I've been searching this forum for answers but there are a lot of pages!!

When you guys put banners up on the windows what do you use to hold them up? I know I've read that WDW doesn't want you using tape or anything that will leave a residue behind. I think I'm going to make a banner for our door next trip, but I'd like to do something on the window too.

Thanks!

I typically use suction cups with hooks on them(for windows). But if your putting it on your room door you would probably want to use magnets (if staying at a value & most mods), as the doors are metal.

Anyone else out there have a suggestion?

I used these little square sticky things that I got from walmart. They are for hanging things and being able to take them off easily.

I used masking tape (lots of it!) on the window frame to hang my lights and garland. The tape came off just fine and left no residue. I hung small paper snowflakes to the window using a tiny bit of glue from a glue stick. It worked very well and I just washed the window before I left.

i use suction cups for he windows and a combo of magnets and painters tape for the windows. Its made to not rip off paint and sometimes the magnets fall depending on the weather. Had no problems on our last trip with the painters tape (the blue stuff).

Here is a picture of our resort window from our recent stay at All Star Movies over Christmas. He had 5 rooms decorated between our group. We burned the lights at night...which were red. It looked great.

need2go, your window looks nice! I love how you did the names!! Hope you had a great trip!

Thanks! We had a great time. It was really Magically. The names are from Kellybell. Here are a couple of pictures of the window at night and one of our Christmas Tree on Christmas Morning. Our Mousekeeping put our Christmas Tree in the window the first night and we left it there until Christmas Eve.
