Decorating your resort room?

I think it would be cute to take two paint chips and glue them together with the ribbon or string in-between, so you don't have to punch a hole in poor Mickey's head! :mickeyjum

If you are careful you can ' peel ' the mickey head off the backer paper but then it leaves them thin and they can curl. I have laminated all of ours ,that way we can use them over. If you do not laminate them you might want to cut them out.

I have posted this before, but here is a few pictures of what we did with the paint chip mickey heads

I've never used the paint chips before, but we did decorate for Christmas when we went last December. My sister and I plan to do it again (Halloween decor this time) for our trip in October! We love doing it and we also love going around checking out other peoples displays.

Well, after reading some of these posts I'm thinking of possibly decorating when we go in Nov. But, I'm sort of thinking I must be crazy! :rotfl2: I was surprised to read some people talking of decorating and wondering what they were talking about and then one day I found this thread. I haven't read all the pages yet but it sounds fun but... I worry about taking up extra space in my already stuffed luggage. And I know I will be Grumpy about having to take it down at the end of the trip. Just something more to do while trying to leave and something to reinforce that I'm leaving and don't want too so it will make me more sad!

So I was wondering, if it's okay to ask here, why do people decorate? Some seem to really put a lot into it so I'm wondering, with so much to do and so much going on, why do you take time for this? My DD17 and I always stay at CBR and unfortunately I've never ever seen any decorated rooms, other than stuffed animals in windows that the mousekeeping do. I wish I had, I'm sure I would have been excited to see them and thought they were pretty cool! :cool1: Really curious how this all got started! :goodvibes

Hi There,

I thought I'd show you what my CBR window looked like last August.

See below:

Not sure how the trend got started, but my kids really enjoyed helping decorate the window. I changed the window daily as we went to different parks. I would bring different items back and place them on the window. It gave us a new look each day. I look forward to decorating the window on my next trip.

I am so excited for my vacation. All of your pics look great. I always saw the decorated rooms but this will be my first year to decorate.

Very exciting to see all the wonderful pictures! I'm hoping to decorate our rooms this year. My wife surprised me once for my birthday by decorating our SSR studio with Princess party decorations. :rotfl2: :lmao: And now after seeing everyone else's decorations, I want to do something cool on the windows and doors! Thanks, everyone for getting my creative energies going!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

I got a million mickey heads from HD today, ok maybe not a million but close

Last year I soaked them and peeled them one by one and then put them under a book and flattened them for days. This time I just want to lamanate them back to back and cut them out without peeling them off, has anyone done that before?

I made magnets for the door last year and people kept stealing them, I guess that's to be expected but it annoyed me  But I think I'll do magnets again this time, as well as decorating the window. I do put my DIS username on them in case someone stops by. I worry about putting a white board on the door because if people start being rude and write on the door I'm stuck trying to clean it or get in trouble!

We are taking a mother/daughter surprise trip and I was going to make some signs for the door that said as much, but then again I wonder if I shouldn't since I'll be alone with DD and don't know what kind of crazies are out there - what do you think?

We will be at AKV July 13 - 17 , SSR July 17 - 21, & VB July 21- 25. If you see our door sign your Dis name and leave us a note.

I think you've already answered you own question just by having to ask it! But if you need reassurance, Please don't advertise on your door that you are staying alone with your 4 year old! Better left unsaid! Have a great trip!

As far as the mother daughter trip goes, we did that back in January. I really don't see what the heck is going to happen, someone is going to try to break down your hotel door? If someone had tried to do that with us, they would have been very surprised to see two grown women! No one knows for sure what "mother/daughter trip" means unless your posting your ages on the door too, so I wouldn't worry about it.

How did you put this on the window? Tape? Window decal but how?

I used clear contact paper. I cut it just alittle bit bigger than the Mickey heads. You just have to make sure you put the sticky side of the contact paper on the back of the head so when you put them on the window the colored side of the head is out. I put the sticky side of the paper on the color side of the head first and the back was facing out the window, it didn't look so great.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know I was in the Dollar Tree store today and saw a few different kinds of window clings. I live in the New England area, so don't know if this helps anyone, but they had some Princesses, Winnie the Pooh, Batman, and Dora.:thumbsup2

I know that I have read this on here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it again. So I figured I would just ask!

How do you get the Mickey heads off the white background? Do you have to cut them all or is there an easier way?

Thanks in advance!

Connecticut here - will be hitting the dollar store tomorrow in search of some disney window clings. :woohoo: Thanks for info.
