Decorating your hotel room door and/or window

So, if you wrote "do you DIS?" on one of your door decorations and someone wrote back on the same decoration "yes I do" would you be upset? LOL I just wondered that....I think this is the BEST idea!! I would so do this for our next trip....I'm going to start looking for window clings and I'll start picking up Mickey heads at Home Depot too!

Me? Not at all! I'd love it. In fact at the start of that thread where I pulled the links from, someone talks about how she actually attached a pen and sheet of paper for other DISers to say hi or leave a little note.

Then later in the thread others said they did the same. I think it's cool.

We are going in December and will be there for DDs 1st Birthday. We are so in. Can't wait to show the other DDs and start planing. Guess where I headed. Yep, Home Depot. Mickey heads here we come.

Awww, a first birthday. How sweet is that!

It's fun because there are actually so many different colors of Mickey heads at Home Depot and you can really get creative in your use of them.

Now we are heading to DL and the Grand Cali for my birthday September 11th. I have a door banner, banner for the balcony, decorations for inside the room....birthday napkins and streamers.

We are at least polite enough to take it all down when we checkout --- but it will be so much fun for our 5 days there.

And I agree with you about taking it all down when you leave. I think that's key, not to leave an extra mess for housekeeping.

No real ideas yet. I'm going to check around and see what I come up with. We already have a small tree (miniature size) for our room and I am making small Mickey Head ornaments for it. Any ideas for our door at Christmas time?

you can get the red, or white one for that matter, mickey heads from home depot and then stripe them into candy canes and put them on your door with a lime colored one somewhere in there so we all know you're a DISer

that's actually a good idea pixiewings, to have like a pen attached to the door that is full of lgmhs and all the DISers could stop and sign their name so you know you were visited by other DISers. that's sounds fun!

EDITED: alright, so I should finish reading all the posts before I post. Apparently the pen and message board idea is already in play. Great minds think alike

I edited my first post to include more links and the fourth one down has some Christmas decoration in it. Looks like they used some of the red and darker green Mickey heads from Home Depot as part of their display.

Also you could try printing out some fun Christmas Disney themed DISgns from the DISign board here on the DIS.

That's a great idea! I've been checking that board for T-shirt designs, but I didn't think about maybe a sign for the door. I'll have to do that.

Yeah, I read on the DIS that someone would print them out and laminate them and just hang them up in her room. Someone else added magnets to it and used them to decorate her fridge. (her home fridge, but I guess if your hotel room had one you could use that as well, lol)

great idea about the magnets which begs the question, for me at least, does anyone know if hotel rooms are magnetic? Like my front door at my house is metal, are hotels? they are, aren't they? Specifically Desert Inn? Great thought, now I'll just glue little magnet strips on whatever I'll put on our hotel door. Thanks!

Great idea! We actually had similar thoughts! I was thinking of putting alternate red and green ones on a wide ribbon, sort of like a garland, and stringing that on my door. I thought I could put a word on each of the Mickey Heads to say a holiday greeting and then add the lime green somewhere. Then I thought I'd add some candy canes and holly leaves (with the red berries in the shape of a Mickey Head, of course...LOL) scattered on the door too. I really like the idea of a pen attached so others can leave a note. I was thinking about that and didn't think anyone would feel comfortable knocking on a door and saying...."WOW, I'm a Dis'er too!"......LOL. I'm thinking of putting everything on a large sheet of paper, like a door covering, so that there won't be so many little pieces to take down before we leave and clean up would be quicker. I love all these ideas.....keep them coming!

Good question, unfortunately I don't know. I know the ones at the WDW resorts are. Well, at least the ones at POP and places like that, because it was discussed in that thread.

As for the ones in DLH, PPH, GCH, HoJo, etc. maybe someone else will be able to answer that for us.

Yeah, actually knocking on someone's door might not go over very well. Unless you enjoy being escorted away by security.
But you know, just leaving a little note saying "Hey Disneyfan4ever54, saw your sign. Love your door. From Mommau4." or whatever, would be fun.


Doesn't even have to be DISers I suppose. Someone else on another thread posted that at the end of their long WDW trip, they'd collected greetings and signatures from people all over the world. Now that's cool. What a great keepsake.

I recall Michaels also selling inexpensive door sign kits. In the past they had them with holiday themes such as Halloween and Christmas.
