Decline for Internship

Oh - what I said about me saying everything they wanted to hear was absoutely true in my part.

I LOVE disney, I love fast paced enviroments, i'm a total team player, I love talking to people.

I meant that I had everything they were looking for. Maybe they thought it was too good to be true? I don't know

I deff. didn't come off as 'i'm too good for you guys' in the interview. Thats just how i feel now in order to make myself feel better about this situation.

WDW_lover_in_SC - I actually called twice. The first time I asked what I did wrong and they said nothing, it was just my answers. I then called an hour later because that answer wasn't good enough for me & I wanted details so I know for the future. When I called back they already knew it was me again & I asked if there was a specific question or something & they said no. It was just my "entire" interview and that I didn't sell myself that much because I told them my three main traits 1) i love disney 2) i'm a hard worker 3) i'm a team player - which if thats not selling myself i dont know what is.

I then asked if they can give me any tips & they basically said to see if I can get a class about learning how to sell myself :confused3 whatever that means....

:( Thats sad.. maybe your recuiter was having a bad day?? I don't really know what else it sounded like the person who you talked to wasn't very helpful either..

I am so very sorry. Don't get too discouraged - there is always next semester or next year.

Yeah -

I just finished telling someone how the recuiter was very 'blah' & seemed as if she wanted to get it over with - which obv. didn't help in the end because she probably just typed half of my answers in.

But i'm over it - I've accepted it. I'll just hate to apply next semester & have to go through this again. Thats the only thing holding me back from applying for spring now.

I highly doubt you would get the same recruiter and also applying again doesn't mean you are a failure. You might just find that maybe spring was when you were supposed to go..

Yeah -

This will be my 3rd time applying!

Got accepted once denied once and the 3rd time is obviously unknown! So don't feel bad just keep trying like I am! :)

:sad1: What year are you? Maybe they didn't feel you had a strong interview, but there would be other chances for you to apply?

I'm sorry that happened to you...I'm still waiting on an answer for my application...

Did they ever email you back?

What do you mean what year? Like age wise? If so i'm 20.

& nope they never responded back to my email

It could also have been energy level. I laugh during my interviews. Honest to goodness laugh, a genuine one, and I hope that conveys that I'm high energy. Were you nervous? Because sometimes nerves make people sound less energetic than they really are regardless of how awesome they are.

I'm so sorry. :( Would you be interested in doing the CP in DL? I know that as long as you pass your web interview you can apply to both. At least you could still experience Disney :)

This marks my third time applying to the program. I am beginning day seventeen of my wait. My first interview, in retrospect, seemed awful. I did better last time around, but applied too late in the season.

I waited an entire year before trying again. Whatever happens just know that you are awesome, and great things are going to come your way. :flower3:

I have heard rumors that while some experience is liked, at other times they have issues with too much experience. I don't know if this is the case for you or what.

I am sorry that you didn't get it, but keep trying. If you still want to work for them after college, you should just apply to the company for a regular position, not through the CP program.

That's actually what Sea World told me to do when I was interviewed there. I unfortunately didn't meet a requirement, but they liked me from what they knew from my resume and our short interview so they told me to apply for a normal job.

I hope something works out for you! Just keep your head up, there will be more opportunities!

They aren't looking to hire Disney fanatics so that could be a reason. Next time make your work ethic and career your best traits not that you love Disney itself. Instead phrase you like the Disney company and it's ethics and practices. See the diff?

Wait 6 months from now, August and then reapply on the college program just google it.
You can do this totally online and avoid the whole recruiting process but the recruiter does help.
It's better to talk to the interviewer like they are someone you're having a conversation with (laid back but not too much, just naturally)
I've gone through one semester of CP myself and I have gained so many people skills from that one semester alone. It's good to try and practice your interviewing skills with friends who are managers, or even family members who are managers.

I've had a lot of interviewing experience.. it's not enough that you tell them that you work hard you have to tell them how you're working hard.
Every person I talk to says that I sound tired but that's because I AM WORKING hard, I'm beating my brow from when I get up to get to school till after I get home to do homework or I go in for shift that day. :surfweb:

If I was you; I'd find a place to volunteer where there's a bit of work like at a hospital and do that for a whole summer. :laundy::teacher:

DCP/WDWCP looks at things like that and they think "WOW this person likes helping people" or "this person really cares and works hard to make a difference" :thumbsup2
They've got that whole Voluntears image and you can participate in that and say I am proud to Volunteer and represent Disney even though I'm not a cast member

they always have that fun run 5k marathon which this year I am totally going to go volunteer to help out the runners (I used to run myself:yay:) plus you get a free admission ticket if you dedicate 12 hours.

I'm really sorry to hear that you were rejected. Its one of my biggest nightmares.

But, I'm Hellenic (Ancient greek religion) and believe that fate is fate. Maybe you are ment to go in Spring and not fall?

Thanks for all the tips guys!

DLMalmberg, I made sure not to sound like a disney fanatic cause my friend has done 2 programs at at dcp and warned me.

MandaBelle, good luck - hope you get in!!!

Ocgirl , my parents will FLIP OUT if I applied for DL hahaha they have a problem with WDW and i'm only 4 hours away:rotfl2:

I'm pretty sure I sounded like a Disney fan girl during my interview.. I got in though :confused3

I told the guy I've loved Disney since before I could talk lol.
