Sorry, couldn't decide where to put this. Feel free to move it where you think is appropriate.
I know I have very little time to do anything about this, but we've suddenly come up on a little squeeze on our plans for free dining.
We had originally booked 5 nights at a moderate (POR) for the last week of September. We were planning on having my brothers come out Wednesday, and letting them miss two days of school. That was until report cards came home and I was made aware of the situation. They weren't bad, but I can't let them miss school - they weren't quite reward-worthy, as their grades normally are. School is the priority, and we've always made it clear that they could only miss school for the occasional family visit, or vacation, or Disney trip if they had excellent grades. I can't (won't) back down, but I do still want to give them at least a couple great days at Disney.
So we have a few choices.
A) I could keep the reservation, and have them come out Friday after school. The big problem here is that I wouldn't have them to check in with me Tuesday, and then wouldn't have free dining for the boys all weekend. My not having to pay for feeding these bottomless pits was the reason we get to go to Disney instead of having them come visit the house. Perhaps disney has a way to add names for just certain nights - that would make it pretty easy.
B) I could split the reservation - except that each reservation needs to be a minimum of three days, so we'd have to check in a day early, and check the boys in Thursday, which is a no-go. Also, this would mean we'd have to buy an extra two one-day passes that we won't use.
C) We could change the reservation to just DH and I, for three nights, and enjoy the start of the food and wine festival. There are two weekends during Free Dining that they have 3-day weekends, and I could book something with the boys (don't know what will still be available) one of those weekends. We'd have to buy the two extra passes, and pay for an extra night somewhere. This one has the distinct advantage of allowing DH and I a romantic weekend, but I have to check availability and costs.
I booked via Small World Vacations because they support some of my favorite resources =) and I had told her at the time that I didn't imagine we'd be much trouble. Now somehow I have to decide what on earth to do, and it's after 5:00 on the Friday before free dining ends! I wish I could be mad at the boys! All my ADRs are planned around a certain number of people (and credits!) to boot. I'll have to see what I can manage after I figure out what to do.
Anyway, sorry -I'm just in need of a little advice. What should we do? How busy is Labor Day going to be? It's a birthday weekend, but I imagine it's booked up and will be packed anyway. What do I do with this growing stack of one-day passes on room cards that were once linked to my credit card? Will all the ADR slots for everywhere good be taken?
Guess this means it won't be an issue worrying about whether they'll care if the boys are there 4 nights or 5. ::sigh::
