Decent prices at Candy Cane Inn

Actually Desert Inn is right next to Park Vue Inn. So that makes only BWPPI and PVI closer than Desert Inn. I think everyones starting to mix up Desert Palms and Desert Inn.

OP - I agree with the pp who said to book Desert Inn now as their prices always go up.
Oops I mixed those two up also! Anyway, I'm a big CCI fan. Once we stayed there, I stopped looking for places to stay. That is our go to place to stay when at DLR.

Thanks, Cmrdgrs :)

Pink Budgie, even though I have stayed at CCI many times I enjoyed all your pictures in the other thread. Thanks for taking the time to do that! Now I just want to go back, well to DL :)

try best western park place inn maybe? right now the rates are 150 online for some days in dec, but when you sign up for there free membership you can get as low as 125. (at least i did a week ago)

Will you have a car? Will you be having breakfast in your room, or will you be eating out? I think those two things are what really cinches the Candy Cane for us. We have an AP discount (same as the AAA discount, I believe), we bring a car ($10-12 extra per night depending on the hotel) and we eat the "free" breakfast ($10 at McDonald's for our family, even more if we eat in the park).

We will have a car, that we don't plan on moving very much during our stay. There seems to be plenty of placing within walking distance to get a few convenience items if need be. We would be able to get the AAA discount, which is a plus! The discount, free breakfast, and the no parking fee are pretty good perks.

Here is the link to the Blog's Tom does reviewing Good Neighbor Hotels and at the bottom of the page has Related Posts and you can find the other hotels he's reviewed there:

:flower3:

I'm going to look at this! I'm still pretty up in the air about where to stay. One day I'm booking the Desert Inn and Suites and then the next minute I'm not and looking at another motel. This is a lot harder then picking a WDW hotel, imo. lol I guess that choice came more easily to me in the past!

Have you found that their prices are better booking farther in advance? Is paying 169 normal for you? Any tips are appreciated! TY!

Oh, one other thing! Free wifi, which is pretty decent. We were able to stream some PBS shows, even. We had really bad internet service at the other place we'd tried, so that was definitely a plus for us as well.

I honestly haven't seen it much cheaper than $169 in the past year. Keep in mind, though, a lot of us who are singing its praises are repeat customers, so we're probably getting the AP/AAA rate plus the $10 a night discount (if you come back within a year).

Thanks Lauren, as I am reading more and more I am seeing that 170 is about what people are paying. Hopefully we could get the AAA rate!

The price has gone up and I noticed over the years it seems to depend more on when you are going. How far out you book doesn't seem to matter. Since we went to WDW last summer, our repeat customer coupon expired but DH plans to ask anyway, just in case.

I really like CCI. I do not like Desert Inn and Suites. I know a lot of people do, but everyone has different priorities. My issues with DI&S - Beds and bedding are horrible and uncomfortable. Most will say you are so tired after a day at DIsneyland they don't notice. But I do. They allow smoking in the "hallways" to rooms. It is outside, but to have to walk through it bothers me. Carpets were always dirty. They put a hold on my debit card despite my paying the bill in cash upfront, then didn't know how to release the funds.

I love CCI, especially Premium rooms. Clean bedding, comfy beds, great breakfast, staff is helpful, shuttle is GREAT. It is ALWAYS on time.

Yea, I know my wife (at least by the time we visit DL she will be!) would hate being near any smoking areas. She is pretty sensitive, so that is good to know! Thank you!

We got lucky this past January and got AAA rates of $99.00! Otherwise it is out of our budget, but we loved it. Loved it being so close to the new CVS store and really liked the free breakfast.

We love the CCI! Clean, quiet, beautiful grounds, easy walk, great breakfast! Ramada Maingate used to be another go to. But they are under construction right now and they recently started charging for parking. They have a free breakfast too, but it is minimal. CCI breakfast is WAY better.

I recently did a quick stay at Hojo and LOVED it! That will be another go to place from now on. We are staying at the Desert inn on 3/6...and to be honest, I am not having high hopes. Trying to keep an open mind, but not expecting a lot. I'm most worried about the parking situation because I am pretty particular about my car, but nothing else walking distance was available.

whhhhhatttt! I can only hope! I called last week and they said their rates were not up for 2016, but they are up (for 169 a night for a room with a king) on their site. Weird, and haven't tried to book yet. But we shall see, I'll be the pest that calls every week to see what I can get. lol..

Thank you for all the feedback! I really appreciate everyone's opinions, experience and time! Keep-it coming! ;D

We just stayed there last week. I think my booked price was $139 per night... then I had the AP discount and the $10 off discount for repeat customer(was there in Jan and I think I had the same price then too). We just love it there. I like the breakfast, the shuttle and we don't have to pay to park or for wifi. The wifi does well for us... all 4 of us like our electronics and usually during breaks and before bed at least 2 of us are on netflix and we all use the internet while there and have had no issues with it at all.

I think fee parking will be a big perk! We will be renting a car but I don't think we will need to use it much until we leave DL for San Diego. So free parking just for it to sit there would be a plus!!

I called CCI about this last night as I have a Return Coupon from January 2014 (TinkerBell 1/2 Marathon) and am going again in May 2015 (again TinkerBell 1/2 Marathon). The person I talked to stated that they will usually honor the Return Coupon if is within a month or 2, but, will not honor it for our May visit. Worth asking though.

That's what I figured. We have used them a week or two after expiring but a year after expiring probably won't happen. Now that we are getting APs again, we'll be back several times during the year and able to use it the next time.
