Decent pizza delivered to resort?

The only pizza we ever eat in WDW is... wait for it... Toy Story Pizza Planet.

Well, you may not be eating pizza on your next trip. Pizza Planet is closed for refurbishment. Rumors seem to point to it reopening as a Muppets themed pizza place: Pizza Rizzo.

Of course, that doesn't mean the pizza will change.

It looks like it won't reopen until late this year.

Well, that works out nicely, since we leave in 2 weeks. No Elio's pizza for us. Sometimes things have a way of working out ;)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll break the news to my daughter later.

The pizza threads on here crack me up! lol Never in "real life" have I "met" so many people that feel this strongly about pizza as they do on here. :)

I agree! The same goes for lots of other foods that some dissers declare is the 'best' where they're from! I've eaten/traveled in some of the areas where these different foods are supposedly the best/only way to prepare them, etc. Nothing special to us. I've come to the conclusion that it's mostly what you grew up with!! :-) That's the only way I can account for some people's 'best' prepared dishes!

My name ends in an "i" and I'm from Long Island.

Yeah, I know it's just Elio's pizza, right out of the box. It's not even Dominos. But my daughter is a huge Toy Story fan, and she loves the atmosphere. So we take one for the team.

Beyond that, we don't order pizza (or bagels for that matter) at WDW. There are simply too many foods we know we'll enjoy. Pizza at WDW isn't one of them.
With ya on the bagels!!!
No Pizza, no bagels, no scallops, lobster, or clams!!! Lol!
But there are soooo many other fabulous foods at WDW we never miss those!
BTW, my name ends in "a" and I'm originally from Brooklyn...

So if you're ever near New Haven stop by and say hi!
But don't order the fountain soda, it is nasty, get the locally bottled soda pop instead!

Memphis is supposed to be the #1 place for Bar B Q also, but no one I know agrees with that! LOL That goes for lots of places known as #1 for foods, employment, places to live/raise families, etc. etc. - not sure where they take their votes - no one I know has ever been polled!

But, have not tasted the pizza that you mentioned - cannot personally agree/disagree. We all have our personal tastes/regional favorites. :goodvibes We're deep so. LA so understand what that means - we feel the same way!
(example - POFQ beignets vs. Cafe DuMonde in NOLA)

LOVE Cafe duMonde and don't like POFQ beignets! So delicious with that chicory coffee! yum! DD lives in NOLA!
We're staying in Fountainebleau State Park in one of the cabins in August for a week. DH was worried we wouldn't get to Cafe du Monde for breakfast enough, but found out there's an outpost in Mandeville! Yippee Skippee!
That's also the best place to get shrimp and grits.
Give me any recommendations you have for good bar b cue!

Agreed on the Memphis BBQ...Just not our thing no matter how many places we have tried!

I pity your pizza predicament. Does your body go into shock when offered a slice that tastes more like food and less like the box it came in?

Actually due to said circumstances, I've never really been a pizza fan lol

I'm going to revisit this thread in mid-November after our tip.

Here's a question for the masses until then-

When you call up to order, do you order a:

1) Pie (if not ordering any extra toppings)
2) Cheese Pie
3) Cheese Pizza
4) Cheese Pizza Pie

Anything other than (1) is wrong, just so you know.

People also feel quite strongly about lobster rolls and the correct way to serve and eat seafood. (Best to not inquire on certain food items.)
I agree somewhat, but at least with seafood, you know it's best ordered somewhere close to the ocean (so you're getting it fresh). Pizza doesn't have the same geographical restrictions - you can get the ingredients anywhere and freshness isn't as vital (there are farms for fresh tomatoes all over the country, or you can have them shipped in). I've had amazing pizza in NYC, Texas, Alaska (there's a place in Anchorage that was rated 3rd best in the nation last year),... I've only had good seafood in coastal areas. (And of course, the specific seafood you're ordering is also regional - DH won't order salmon outside of AK or the PNW; we stick to lobster in Maine/NE.)

Just don't expect any good pizza in WNY. The style of pizza here is TERRIBLE. Thick crust, way too much plasticy cheese,... Worst pizza style I've ever had. Even the CS pizza at WDW is better than this stuff.

This is such a funny thread. We are from Yonkers NY and crush Sicilian Pies from our local spot. Yonkers boarders the Bronx and is 15 min from downtown NYC so our pizza shops all have serious competitions. In my travels i have come to think that the water is the key ingredient to making great pizza. The places with great tap water usually have decent pizza. Florida is definitely not one of them lol. Skip the pizza at Disney.

You are SOOOO right about the water!
Same for good Italian bread.
The Bronx bakery moved (they have great bread and bagels) and they made sure to stay in the same watershed area!!!
Water makes a huge difference in the crust!

We ordered Flippers once when we were rained in at our Treehouse Villa. It took FOREVER (nearly 2 hours) to get it, likely due to the fact that many people had the same idea. We thought it was pretty good, much better than most WDW resort pizza, other than Via Napoli.

When we visited the following June, we had our car. We drove to Flippers Rolling Oaks one evening, which was a short drive from WDW property. We also enjoyed eating at the restaurant. It's nothing fancy, but the service was good and fast. It's also a much cheaper alternative than Disney food.

Never have seen another local person on these boards! We are right down the road from you in Bedford--small world. Crazy as it sounds, some of my favorite pizza is Dino's in the mall, lol.

Another north Jersey girl here... that was what I was told so like you, I usually just stay away. I did ive in Chicago for a number of years and cultivated a taste for deep dish but that's a whole different food stuff LOL Definitely not "pie"!

If I really need a fix, it's Via Napoli... I have tried Flippers which wasn't great, but I guess the best of a poor lot.
