December ressie's, hard to get?

My husband is in retail management, and needless to say, we don't see too much of him this time of year.
This morning as he was running out of the house at 7:00 am he said - "you should take the kids to Disney this time next year!"

At first I was shocked that he said that, but now that I have been thinking - it may be just a great idea!

I was looking at December 20 (Sat) through the 24th (Wed) and I calculated that a studio at BCV (home) would only be 59 points?!? It is "Choice" season and not so expensive.

Then I was thinking of trying for VWL.

From all those with past experience.... Should I make the ressie at BCV with my 11-month window and try to switch it over to VWL at the 7-month mark? Is it hard to get a ressie for this time of year??

Book your room at the 11 month window, then see about a transfer at 7 mos. We have done DVC over the Christmas holiday two of the three past years and found that we needed to book at 11 months to get the rese we desired. One year, we stayed at Universal for some of our trip because we couldn't get a room at OKW for points or cash.

Since you are not looking for early December, you will probably get something. No matter what, I would beek my home at 11 months and then see what you can get at the seven month window.

If you must waitlist, remember to waitlist carefully. You can waitlist for some of the days together, all of them together or oe at a time. Since it is so few points and you will still have a month till you have to worry about banking, keep your home resort ressie till you have as much of the other ressie as you require.

You should assume that will be a difficult time to get particularly at 7 months out. Also, making ressies at home resort at 11 months out even though you want to reserve another resort at 7 is always a good idea regardless of what time of year you intend to go.
