We are staying on site (CBR).

I plan to start the day at Epcot, and I'm hoping to park hop to MK around (5-6pm). Will we be able to get in that time of day? or am I dreaming? (we've been 4 times in 4 years, but never for the holidays).

I know MK has the NYE fireworks at 11:48pm on December 30th.
What other entertainment is here in MK prior to those fireworks?

Also, that morning, I normally drive and park at Epcot. Does it make more sense to park at TTC and Monorail to Epcot? So end of day we can go from MK back to TTC to get the car? Or should I park at Epcot, and after midnight will I be able to monorail back to Epcot to get my car from the Epcot parking lot?

Thanks all!! :)

A 4th stage closure (where nobody is allowed in) is highly unlikely (the last time it happened at any of the parks was at MK on April 7, 2009), and since you're staying on property, you can get in up to a 3rd stage closure.

Ok that's great to know! I'm curious what happened that day that it was a 4th stage closure?

Also, is there any way to tell on the APP if a park has a certain closure? A way for me to check while we are at Epcot?

Thanks :)

Don't sweat it. We do this every year and haven't been turned away yet. Not saying it won't happen, but it hasn't yet.

You're in for a real treat. You're entering MK at the perfect time. It'll give you ample time to line up and catch the Frozen show.

Honestly, I'd head back to Main Street no later than 10pm. There's a DJ playing so it'll help time pass by MUCH faster. It's a lot of fun to people watch. The projection show should go on around 10:30. Then there's dancing in the street until the fireworks go off around 11:50pm. Send a runner to Casey's or Starbucks for a drink and hold your spot.

I'm interested in seeing how things shake out this year. In the past, they'd have the area roped off as the parade would go through. Now you can kind of line up at any time. I wonder if that's why they haven't considered adding anything just yet.

wdwmagic.com is a great resource. Apologize to mods if I'm not allowed to cite them. They usually post up-to-the-minute closures. But again, it's not much to worry about. It's more of a badge of honor when we head back to the resort from the park and say "wow that was crowded, check wdwmagic and see what the phased closure was..."

No reason to worry at all. On site guests and AP holders can get into a park up until the 4th phase of closure. Like said, it's been years since a full closure and it's a rare thing. The parks likely won't reach phase 3.

You'll be fine

For fireworks at MK. They do a show at 6:30 and at 11:50

On a side note, do check the websites. Don't rely on Twitter. Rumors spread quickly. If I had a dollar every time I read "Magic Kingdom is closed!" on Christmas and NYE, I'd be staying Club Level at Grand Floridian.

And it could be that the person who tweeted that was not staying on property, and therefore was in a category that was affected by a lower level closure.

We usually take the bus to avoid all the hassle of driving on the 30th and NYE. I don't know for sure if the Epcot monorail will still be running after midnight so if you were to park somewhere I would suggest parking at the MK and take the Epcot monorail over to Epcot and then back to the MK. It should be running in the AM.

Regarding your car, I would honestly leave your car at CBR that day. Leaving MK that night after closing might be a nightmare.

I know it's more crowded on the 31st. But, do they have the same set up with DJ & all before the fireworks in the 31st?

This!! I need to know this. I can't find information. What is the frozen show? When is the parade? I didn't realize there was any type of parade that was special aside from like the Christmas party which clearly we arent doing.
I'm usually very up and up. But I can't find details. Lol

Thank you!! I'm looking for more details on this 630 show (frozen?) where is it? And someone mentioned a parade??

It won't be too bad if they stick around for an hour of EMH.

Yes, I've thought about that. But I'm wondering if that day perhaps buses would be a better option. No clue what bus lines for CRB will be like at the end of a crazy MK day. I know I was over waiting for POP buses and enjoyed the car much more.

- Unfortunately the Main Street Electrical Parade is gone
- The Frozen show is pretty much Elsa, Olaf and Anna coming out to "freeze" the castle. It's a castle lighting ceremony and actually a nice little story that feeds into the castle lighting up with white icicle lights.
- Now, during Christmas week, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is over. This was a huge misconception during our first trip. Unfortunately, with the party goes a lot of the party snacks in Magic Kingdom. Just a quick note, so you're not getting your hopes up reading DFB and salivating over the MK snacks. However, the parade that's held during the show takes over the Festival of Fantasy Parade during the daytime (usually 3:30pm). I definitely recommend it.

Yes I knew the electrical parade was gone.

So is this night parade the same as the 3pm parade or just in lieu of?

And is the parade after the frozen show lighting??

Thanks!!

Oh and yes. We are arriving the 29th (HS that day...) and then the 30th day is Epcot and hopefully we will be in MK by 530! I have not bothered reading anything about mvmcp since I knew it wouldn't pertain to us.

6:30 is a nye firework show, it's not frozen related. Last year it was called "Holiday Wishes New Year's Celebration", I'm sure it'll be called the same this year.

Then 11:50 is the "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks
