December 2025 Refurbs

Isn't Big Thunder Testing?

I feel like it should be open within 3 weeks unless the testing is going to last more then a month
I have heard it Train 6 was reconstructed and tested. As for the other trains I am not sure.

It is possible that it opens in 3 weeks and DL changes the refurb time. I am not certain if all the water/plumbing work was completed yet.

This is kind of what I've been wondering. The original reopen date was October 25th before being put back on the refurb calendar. But things have been happening with the ride as if it was still going to reopen by October 25th: running the water, testing the audio, rebuilding and moving different trains. They're even adding paint touchups to the queue, which is usually the very last step of any refurb process.

Why did the reopening initially get pushed back to November 23rd? Why did the reopening date disappear after that? I know that rides sometimes open maybe a day earlier than originally posted, but is there a precedent for an attraction to be posted on the refurb calendar for weeks into the future and suddenly be removed from it and reopened weeks in advance?

Yes DL removes attractions suddenly and opens them weeks before what the refurb stated. They did it with Matterhorn this year in 2025. It was listed as not open in late August and all of the sudden in early July it listed Matterhorn as open on July 24 which it did.

Wasn't the cars ride also over estimated on the website recently how long it was down, like wasn't it suppose to be down until mid October per the website then reopened in mid September?

I just hope Disney would not want Big Thunder down the busiest time of the year and also Casey...like no idea why these were not done before the holidays the best time to ride both of these (because of crowds and also it gets darker earlier)

Hoo boy... I want everything to be reopened so badly in time for my visit during the first week of December, but I'm not sure if I dare cling to hope haha

Cars opened a day early.
Casey Jr. and Storybookland will be opening in the winter....earliest after the Holiday season.

I’ll be so disappointed if BTMRR is t open for our trip Dec 19-24. It was closed at WDW when we were there in Aug and it’s a favorite (especially DL’s version). Everything crossed its open by Thanksgiving!

Yeah, the fact that it’s closed at WDW too makes it even worse. I’ve been very lucky to be able to do 2 WDW trips this year as well as 2 to DL (including the December one that hasn’t happened yet) and so if Thunder is down 3/4 of those trips that’s crazy

It was closed in Tokyo as well when we went in June. I love it and I'm going to be bummed if I miss out on it twice in one year! We'll be there Dec. 23-29

Oof. I knew they were adding the Rapunzel tower to the Storybook Canal. But it never occurred to me it might still be closed on our early January visit. That timeline isn't looking so good. That's my favorite ride in the parks.

Both trains for Casey Jr. are being rebuilt. The entire train track is being replaced. All the Storybook boats are being refurbed...the canals drained and track repairs as well as the addition of the tower. All houses/displays refurbed and redone/repainted.
DL said it would open in the winter....expect eearly 2026.
When is your visit?
