December 2013 car rental

My personal opinion is that they realize they don't have to accept coupons at MCO since it's a Disney destination. I've reserved at other locations outside FL and had no problem with coupons, so it's not the website.

Good catch. To experiment, I just checked it at my local airport and it accepted the coupon that it wouldn't accept at MCO.

We are flying into Tampa this year and they won't take them there either. I figured it was because it was Christmas time though!

Plus, alot of WDW travelers fly into Tampa because it can save money. I guess Alamo is smarter than we thought. :)

Not really. I wonder how many customers they've lost due to their wonky site and not accepting advertised coupons. Both last May and again in Sept I used Budget, instead of Alamo. I am currently looking for a good rate for our Dec trip and unless Alamo improves will be going with another company again. I doubt if I am the only one switching.

We usually rent 4-5 times a year. Always used Alamo. Because of their website and rates, we have not used them one time this year. I know I am only one person, but I cannot believe they haven't noticed a loss of business. You can't even adjust the time on their website without having to clear cookies. And, I have several coupon options with different memberships. Always "at capcity". Dollar and Budget have our business this year!

Looking for a fullsize from MCO - Port Canaveral. Picking up Dec 21 MCO @ 6PM and dropping at Port Canaveral Dec 22 @ 1PM. Best I can find is my corporate rate with Avis for $81 inc taxes.

On the return after 4 night cruise to Bahamas I found the following:

Port Canaveral Dec 26 @ 8AM return to MCO Dec 29 @ 8AM with Alamo through Costco $193 for fullsize inc taxes.

Any ideas if I can do better on either reservation?

Thanks

Exactly the same here. In fact since we started renting cards at MCO a few years ago they were the only company I had used, and usually twice a year. But the last two trips their website, useless coupons and prices have sent me elsewhere. I am currently holding a reservation for December with Dollar and I won't be switching to Alamo unless they do a complete turnaround. It's disappointing.

OK, enough is enough. I've had it with Alamo. I just checked my email. Alamo just sent me a coupon for a free day for my birthday. I just went to their site to use it and guess what came up? 'Capacity check-coupon not available'. :rotfl::rotfl: There is no way that coupon could be at capacity. It's a happy birthday coupon sent directly to my email, from them, today.

I'm at work, so switched computers and it still comes up Capacity check-coupon not available.

Yep.. I got a "free weekend day" coupon this afternoon that I checked less than a minute after it arrived in my inbox. At capacity:rolleyes:. Sure Alamo. I'm done with them at this point.
And ironically it was titled something like "Come Back to Alamo" and went on to entice me with a completely useless coupon lol.

I hope the tech guru's at Alamo are listening because their new website leaves a lot to be desired quite frankly. The coupon codes rarely work and they must be hearing about it from customers.

I agree with all of the above. I was a loyal Alamo customer. I just got a coupon in my email for my hubby's birthday this week, and of course capacity check! Grrrrr

Hopefully everyone who's complaining here is also complaining directly to Alamo. They won't change what no one complains about. Email their customer service department and make yourselves heard!

I called and sent two email to Alamo. On the phone, I was told they were not aware of a problem and it must be recent. I explained it's been going on for months. Then, I sent two email to corporate and customer service. No response.

We have been flying into MCO at least once a year for the last 7 or so, and always used to use Alamo because they were the cheapest. A couple of years ago that changed, and now we use National, not only at MCO, but usually everywhere else as well.

The really interesting thing is, I think I read that National and Alamo are owned by the same company!

National Car Rental -- use this code for KLM airlines (free to join, but they have never asked me for my Frequent Flyer card.) 8572130

This coupon will get you an additional $30 off : NDA2354BU

We're down to $230 for a full size car for 9 days, and it'll probably go down again. That's the cheapest I can find so far, cheaper than Costco by over $100.

Also, FYI, if you are renting at one airport/site, and returning the car to another, you're going to find really high prices.

We booked a full size with Avis about 1 month ago with couopon and code found on this thread picking up at MCO Nov 30 drop off at port canaveral Dec 2 for $95 everything included. Then pick up at port Canaveral Dec 6 return at MCO dec 13 for $216.
Try Dollar with their city special. And also come to this thread everyday people post all type of codes for different rental companies since price change everyday. Good Luck!

Prices on the Costco site have dropped. Just got a midsize car for 11 days (Dec 6th-16th) for $254.32 total with all taxes and fees. Hopefully it will continue to drop.
