I recommend earplugs. DS was very sensitive to loud noises when he was younger. I always carried a pair of ear plugs in my purse. And I had a pair of child-sized soundproof earmuffs for times when we knew things would be loud. I might still have them actually. If I do, I'd be happy to send them to you. Besides fireworks we used them to see the Blue Angels. DS loved airplanes and the Blue Angels specifically but he couldn't tolerate the noise.

I've got some ear plugs so I may give them a try next weekend. We live in KY and UK plays Louisville (both ky teams) so its a big deal and lots of people set off fireworks in our neighborhood that night. So if she does good with ear plugs then I may skip the dessert party. But then again we have early ADR's for BOG and the dessert party could fill us back up, albeit being junk food. But it is a vacation and figured my girls would enjoy the food there.

Just trying to clarify something... have read conflicting reports, so to those who have been lately, did they or did they not put a hold on your credit card for any "incidentals"?

Ban26ana & Sandi08 - We stayed at AS Movies on our first trip, and AS Sports last time; they were both great. The ladies in the gift shop at AS Sports went WAY above and beyond to get a particular item my son wanted...very very nice.

Still about a month away from double digit days for us, but I'm excited anyway! I really do need to lose 10lbs before we go, so I guess it's time to start working on that. I just ordered some pins for trading on ebay; I think I'll start giving my son one each week until our trip, I think I'm getting about 20 of them :)

Tltorrez -- Sorry to hear about the thread-gone-sour...I wouldn't have thought that possible on a Disney board either!

Sammielynn - Congratulations on booking your hotel! We'll be at AOA too, but in the Little Mermaid section.

Tofubeast -- I hope the storm passes you by without doing too much damage. Stay safe :)

When we lived in SW Florida a friend of mine took a pillow, a bottle of wine and a bag of M&M's into the bathroom (no outside windows) during a hurricane warning - woke up 3 hours later. She had slept through the entire storm - she had a slight headache but of course the pressure change during a storm can do that to you. :rotfl:
I loved this! That's how I would like to handle a hurricane.

Havingadisneyday -- When I was at AS Sports in April they did not put a hold on my card, but they charged it every few days as I was charging things to my room, which was new for me. On our previous trip (Dec '10) they charged the whole thing on our last day at check out.

ETA -- Hey! I have a signature, finally! :woohoo:

Good afternoon guys! We are in a tropical storm warning by me (South FL). Fun times. Just hoping we don't lose power, but have the generator ready if need be. So if come sometime tomorrow into Monday, I am not around here due to loss of power---I will be back as soon as I can to update the Roll Call.

Wishing you the best! Are you having a hurricane party?

Lol!!!! I is always the storm pressure!

I just booked another ADR! The Tonga Toast and Kona coffee were too much to resist, so I booked a breakfast ADR for 8:50 on 12/14!:cool1: I'll keep scouting for earlier, though.

We are offsite, driving a rental car. What would be the best/most efficient way to get to the Polynesian? Should we park in the MK parking lot and take the monorail (will that be available before park opening?), or should we park at the Poly and then drive over to MK afterwards?

My MIL will think I am nuts. She thought the purpose of staying offsite was to eat at the house. I can't help that all of the food I am seeing on the TR's are looking so good! :cloud9:

Smart move. No one can resist the siren call of Kona Cafe. I say park at the MK lot and then just monorail over for breakfast. YUM!!!!

Our ADRs for Kona are at 7:40am.....so is it better for us to take the bus from POR to MK then monorail? I know we'll need to be at the bus stop at 6:30......but I can't think of a better way to start off the day.....eating Tonga Toast ;) I agree with the PP!

For an early ADR like that, you might have to take a cab. That's what we're planning on doing, then ride the monorail to check out the other resorts. Don't forget to get your photopass pic taken at the gingerbread house at the GF.

No experience with the parking lot but it's super close so once you're out, I can't think it will take much time to drive. You can walk it in under half an hour. With a 6:30 Fantasmic I booked a 7:30 at Flying Fish. A little tight but we should make it.

thanks! i will be driving so I hope I make it as well as you:yay:

Thanks guys! So far, just a lot of rain in bands. I'm still here ans hoping our power stays on. Now, what to do with a 22 month old indoors all day??

Havingadisneyday-- I know the resorts used to put a hold on cards in ranging amounts depending if you stayed at a value to delux. Not sure if they still do that. Anyone know?

There was a long thread on this recently. The responses ranged from hold to actually charging your card to doing nothing. And the amounts varied based on resorts, length of stay and phases of the moon. It was seriously all over the map. If there's a policy, we weren't able to discern it.

I do know that if you hit a certain amount of charges, they will shut off charging on you KTTW card until you go to the front desk and cash out those charges against your credit card. The limit is a fixed amount but is different for value, mod and deluxe.

I'm planning on having a bunch of disney gift cards (or as Target categorizes them, Entertainment Cards)......so you think the best thing to do is periodically go to the front desk and have them credited to my KTTK? I really don't want to put a bunch of stuff on my credit card. I'd like to have a happy January when it comes to bills!

Glad you're doing ok over there!! Being in Texas (on the gulf side of course), I know all too well how much it stinks to be stuck inside and everything is shut down. Good luck keeping your DD occupied. :goodvibes

Hang on tofu! :)

I just had an idea about booking a Poly Luau. My daughter loves Lilo and Stitch. She is currently on her 6th time watching the opening scene where the hula girls dance ....with her skirt on dancing as well. I think she actually knows some of the Hawaiian words to be honest.

Is the luau fun?? Is it worth it? Should I look into it more??

So far, we've done coloring, play dough, play time w/ Mickey and Big Bird, Disney Potato head parts (thanks ebay). Now snack. Looking forward to nap time. hahah.

I don't like to really watch TV with her, but I make exception for the Disneyland park sing a long from the 90s. I have that thing memorized. Yeah, it will go on again this afternoon. Any other ideas??!?!?! hahah :rotfl:

I don't want to jinx things, but so far Isaac isn't all that bad here.

And back to the thread---
Yeah I am going the Gift Card route too. I really want to have minimal out of pocket by the time I go. At least if I have food paid for in gift cards and some souvenir $ tucked away, then I will feel a-ok! I've also been buying Xmas gifts this summer as I see things on crazy sale, so I can limit that stress.

?

I'm in Louisiana my DD9 was that age when Rita came through here. We evaced but didn't go far enough! The storm knocked out power at our motel. We were on the 2nd floor and had to open the door to keep from melting but I couldnt keep DD off the balcony it was too nerve racking! ASAP went home where at least I didn't have that fear. (Home was without power for over 2 weeks.) My DD liked to play story: One of u starts the tale and stops and the. NExt one picks up the thread in alternating turns.

We (DD9 & DH and me) will be there 12/19 -12/26!!! This will be our 1st WDW Christmas. DD and I were there in 2007 during Feb. so the crowds at Christmas may make me crazy, but I can't wait. Last Christmas was too hard, I lost my 35 year old Sister. My only remaining family member and we were so exclusive in our relationship that Christmas for me was horrible :( I'm not traveling down that road again. DD9 and my Sis were soooo close she was my Sis's baby too.

I already feel the Disney Christmas rehab magic working! :). This will be DH 60's 1st time!

So far have ADR Christmas Eve for BG as part of CP dining package and Christmas at GF. I know many of y'all were hoping for BOG ressies and I hope u got them! The menu for BOG didn't appeal to my bunch.

Tented 1 - I am so sorry about your sister. Sending pixie dust that your Christmas trip to WDW will be magical and you and your family will remember all of the good times with your sister :tink:

Thank you very much! I was hesitant to post the underlying basis for the trip but it is the reason for my Mickey Christmas Season.
