Alright fellow December travelers. I am in need of help to pick my last restaurant... I can not decide :confused3

It needs to be in MK, DTD, or at a resort. (We are spending the day at MK and do not have park hoppers) And only use one meal credit.

This is what we already have booked

CP-Dinner (Should I try to get breakfast instead??)
Le-cellier- Lunch
Tusker House Restaurant-Lunch
The Garden Grill Restaurant-Dinner
Chef Mickey's-Lunch (really hope to move to dinner)
Hollywood & Vine-Lunch (are characters still there for lunch??)

As you can tell we are doing alot of character dining. Our DS will be 16 months so we want it to be a fun/memorable as possible. Right now I am considering Ohana, Kona or 1900 Park Fare. I have read great reviews for Kona and Ohana. 1900 Park Fare would be for the characters.

Also any other thoughts about our meals would be appreciated. We have not ate at ANY of the restaurants so all of your opinions/advice would be appreciated. TIA :goodvibes

I would do either Kona OR O'hana. Kona for breakfast or O'hana for dinner. We're on the DDP too but are doing Kona out of pocket. It's cheap enough to do that for us.....we're using 2 TS credits for our Candlelight Processional Dinner Package!

I thought that the food was great at 1900 for dinner...and the characters were fun too! The evil step-family puts on a great show:) Ohana is also good but not as kid friendly for a child that is 16 months IMHO.

I vote 'Ohana we have gone the past two years and the first year there was a 13 month and 18 month old, the next year they were a year older and I had my 8 week old. The feel of 'Ohana kept the kids entertained plus they seemed to enjoy wandering around the Polynesian as well. The kids enjoyed a lot of the food as well... I think my daughter ate her weight in potstickers :D

For those of you (like me) who already booked and are bummed that you will miss out on Free Dining because you didn't plan to arrive on Dec 10-13, I learned a strategy trick from my friends on TripAdvisor.

We booked our MYW package for Dec. 8-15 through our travel agent. If we want to get the free dining, we'll have to modify our reservation so that Dec 8 & 9 are Room Only. Then we'll book a MYW package for Dec. 10-15 (5 nights) with 7-day park tickets. When we arrive on Saturday the 8th, we'll just pick up our park tickets early (apparently you can do that).
So, we'll have to pay OOP for any food those first two days, and we'll only get 5 credits/pp, but, for me, it's better that having to shell out money for food. This our first time going and as much as I am frugal, I don't want to have to worry about spending money on food, and I'd like to have a couple character meals.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Yep, its a split stay :) I did think about doing this - the reason I didn't is because it can be hassle ... when you re-check in you may get switched to another room. Also, I booked our before the price hike in June so it would be a new booking, therefore the new prices so I wasn't really saving as much as I liked.

However, I was lucky enough to recieve a free QS PIN back in march for my dates so I upgraded to reg dining - food is costing us $100 per person for 6 nights which is a bargain :)

Just an FYI, but Be Our Guest will NOT be character dining. I was super bummed to hear that. My girlfriend and I are planning on doing a counter service lunch at BOG, since we have too many table service meals we want to experience.

Shoot. I was at least hoping for a couple of dancing spoons and plates!

Hi, everyone! Joining the roll call. :goodvibes

Our family will be staying at the Yacht Club from 12/1 to 12/8. Can't wait!! :cool1:

I just got off the phone with a CM and tried to book a 10 day stay at POFQ for FD and was told that the promotion was only for a Garden Room for $3302! Is that true that this promotion is only for Garden Room? She claimed that she asked her supervisor. Calling another CM....

i haven't been able to get through yet! I called at 7 Florida time....right on the nose....and I'm still on hold

I'm just down the road from you in Peachtree City, GA. I also got that pincode offer in March and jumped right on it! I wonder if it was regionally targeted? Interesting!

And I totally agree with a previous poster about scrapbooking. Disney trips are so much fun to scrapbook. It's like reliving the trip a second time!

We will be there 11-29 thru 12-5 contemporary MK view, with free dining, soo excited to see the holiday decorations. First time visiting during the holidays.

Its based on the percentage of rooms booked. So it's very possible for an entire room class or even an entire resort to be blocked out for certain days. Of course that can change if people move around or cancel. It just depends on availability.

THat's what I saw on Tuesday from people with Visa's getting FD. They said choices would be VERY limited this year. I wonder if its because of all the people who pre-booked hoping for FD.

Those of you on hold with Disney right now, can't you also book the same thing online? Hoping you all get what you are looking for! :goodvibes

Very possible. And you can expect some of that to drop if their dates are excluded or the room isn't available. Just look at all the people dropping LM rooms to get FD. That's why it pays to keep checking back. Personally, I don't book a room unless I'm prepared to pay the rate I book it. Discounts are too much of a crap shoot. And Id rather be pleasantly surprised than sorely disappointed. But plenty of people book and then cancel or move offsite.

There was nothing at available for POFQ when I tried. I switched to POR.

At French Quarter they do not seem to be offering anything but Garden or River View rooms for FD. Possibly due to the size of this particular resort? When I called early Monday for the Visa FD, they only had Garden or River View at FQ. I could have switched to POR Riverside or a different resort for a Standard room, but I chose to stay at FQ. It added $92 to my bill (5 night stay) but still saved me $478.4 in the long run, so I'm okay with it! Plus, I get to stay at my chosen resort.

The web site only has Garden and River View for FD as well. Maybe try a different resort? Or run the numbers and see if it still equals a significant savings, even with the room increase?

I switched my dates to Nov. 27-Dec. 7 so that I could take advantage of the free dining offer. I booked POR-RGR and 1 night at CSR.
