December 2012 Code Watch

I called again this morning, as I adjusted my travel dates to include the proposed FD dates for Dec. yesterday, and I still have NO PIN code attached to my household. But the very nice CM said to begin watching for a new release of a new promotion around June 15th to the 30th. It may not be the one, but I can keep my fingers crossed.

I'm curious, does it really provide any benefit to changing your dates without actually having a Pin Code in place or GP offer? I sort of did the same thing, booked a room only reservation for the dates we wanted, then got a FD pin code and rebooked. But my understanding is that you actually have to cancel one reservation and then rebook as a package offer to get the FD. While it would make sense that it would work, I don't think having a room only reservation necessarily automatically translates into availability to convert to a FD package or other room discount offer. It did in our case, but I don't think its automatic.

Can you tell me how long after you made your reservation did WDW send out the emails with the special PINS? Thanks

The first one I got a week or so after saving a quote & playing around on the site (answering question on profile page) one was mailed to me. Then I saw up here that I should call and see if I had a free dining pin, I called and no pin. A couple days later I called to ask a question about my initial pin and the CM said a QSFD code "appeared", so I booked right away. Last night I got the email with the third pin.

My friend and I both got Disney Destination emails--mine was for 30% and hers was only 20%. Since we booked together, we were able to apply the 30% pin to all three rooms booked.

Well, I don't have a Room only resv. booked, I have a Package Booked. I did so, so that I can do my ADRs with the 180+10 in June. My hope was that I'd get a PIN and could just add the code to my ressie and convert it to Free Dining and my ADRs would stay intact.

I haven't seen a recent post on this, but I had actually multiple emails from Disney Destinations today, and one of them included the Free Dining plan for select dates in November and December.

What was odd though was that it said to be sure to reference your PIN code when making reservations but no PIN code was included with my email. Also, the offer didn't specifically state which dining plan was being offered and for which resort levels. It almost seemed like I was getting an advance email on an upcoming offer. Here it is:

I forwarded my email to my travel agent and am waiting to hear back if your current travel dates and room only reservation can qualify.

Ugh the blackout dates are killing me. Even if we got this PIN in the mail it wouldn't do us any good as we're planning on being there 12/5-12/12 and our dates aren't really flexible. Usually we can get FD no problem because we go in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Any chance the blackout dates might change when FD is released to the general public?

I wouldn't hold your breath. Pop Warner week was blacked out last year as well.

I spoke with a CM yesterday who stated that the last email to go out from Disney Destinations had errors. Some rec'd and actual pin number with the email, many did not receive a number, and others never received any notification at all regarding a pin or offer. I was calling to look into switching our ressie and out of the blue he tells me I have FD pin on my name. SWEET !!! I said I never rec'd any email or such telling me so and that is when he explained the above. So we now have FD for our December trip.

I would call and ask if you have a pin. I called about 3 weeks ago and I had nothing. A couple days after that I did get a pin email but it was for 10% off.

I booked 2 rooms at POP for December 9-15, last year with a Bounceback. It was just 20% off. I haven't received a pin in 6 months. A member of my party received the free dining pin so now we have a reservation for dec 9 using 20% off pin and another reservation Dec 10-15 with free dining. Super excited! We haven't had the dining plan since 2006. I was afraid when free dining went public there would be no availability at POP.

Someone please help a newbie. I am browsing the boards trying to get some tips and it is quite overwhelming and I don't have much time to be on the computer each day.

We are looking to book December 23-30, 2012 and I am seeing all these posts on room rate discounts and/or free dining. What is this all about? can someone give me details? We were going to try to book before the WDW rates go up (heard rumors about June increases), but maybe a free dining plan would be more of a discount even with increases? We want either the plus or delux plus dining plan. We would be more than likely booking the Art of Animation.

Thanks for any help. This is our 4th time there, but I've never really done much of the planning on my own, always a travel agent.

I havent seen any discounts yet for those days. Usually with the Christmas crowd, the hotels and parks fill up on there own. Hope you can find some discount. Do you have AAA?

I checked and no pin code for me.:sad1:

Maybe it is a good thing because then I would be tempted to upgrade from the All Star Sports to a moderate resort. By the time I paid to upgrade from the counter service to the regular dining plan it would only be another $100 and I could stay at POR.:cloud9:

Question..
Never have gotten a PIN.
How will I know If I get one.
I got a mailing with "special page created just for you ..information and URL"
but when you get PIN do they just like type it on the back of a postcard? or do they specifically tell you THIS IS A PIN...you can use it for a discount.:) like will it be obvious or will they type it on the back of some mailing..and I will have to decipher it..?
THANKS.

I got a PIN once and it came as snail mail on a big card that stated I could book the special they were offering, which happened to be free Quick Service Dining, and said what dates it was good for. Below it were the words PIN followed by a long set of numbers. Hope that helps!

BTW- I booked the Quick Service and then upgraded to Table Service.

After receiving a 30% off PIN via snail mail a few months ago (that we decided to pass on) found the free dining offer in my husband's spam mail yesterday morning. He had actually received an initial without the PIN at the bottom and then sent another 2 days later that said Oops we forgot your PIN.

Spoke with a CM as we are planning to check in 11/29/12 and she said is should be available to use for our entire stay as we are checking in on last day, worst case scenario we have to check in a day early to make it available for our whole stay... oh darn!

I am a newbie to this too! I am booking through AAA and have been researching like mad! Like a PP said, there is so much info! It's so overwhelming!

I signed up on the WDW resort page, and am having a DVD shipped. When or how would I know if I get a PIN and if I do, can you use it with AAA? Can they apply it, even if I don't get the AAA rate ( I know you can't stack, bummer). My agent said they normally don't do FD during Christmas b/c it's a peak time. I think she's mistaken, but FD would really help!!!
