December 2011 Code Watch!

Mail2Artist - Congratulations on your first family disney trip! You chose a great resort and a wonderful time to visit DW. We love the boat ride to DTD from POFQ - so convenient and relaxing! We've been to DW many times, but just booked our second Christmas time trip, so we're really excited, too. If you have the time, WL, AKL and GF are so beautiful all dressed up for Christmas and the gingerbread house in the GF lobby is a lot of fun to see. Hope you have a wonderful time!!! :goodvibes

Thank you sooo much!!! :goodvibes
We are so excited to see our children's faces when we arrive. Especially my daughter with the cinderella castle. We plan on doing CRT so she can eat in there. Although the Princess Storybook one is cheaper. Still going back and forth on that one.

But now I'm a little nervous with the post below about the Pop Warner week!!
I thought that POFQ and POR were the smallest resorts, their for filling up the quickest. Not to mention with CBR being sooo large and pretty close to the pop resort I figured they would be there. :confused3
What should I do? I want a room close to the pools for convenience with our young children but would HATE to deal with a bunch of teenage boys and giggling girls. LOL
I wonder if I call Disney if they would offer something to make up for it?? hehe, one can only hope.

At least I can be thankful that we didn't go Value and stay at pop which was one of our options.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Pop Warner groups have traditionally stayed at their namesake value resort (Pop). I have always heard they stayed at the All-Stars.

OPPS SORRY read that wrong... IT's the all stars not pop! Sorry!! :rolleyes1
Still mad about POFQ though. haha

Did a google search and found the program for it.
Looks like it's at POR only not POFQ, but that still might be too close for me since we share amenities. Guess I'll call someone and see what we can do.
Not sure I want to move to CBR though. I just think it's too big of a resort for us. Granted, I don't know much since this is our first trip. But from the research it looks intimidating. ;)

Well I got a Game On Pin offer today but the savings is non existent? After pricing online and then pricing using the link in the pin there is absolutely $0 in savings. I have read several folks getting these same pin codes on a few threads here. What a bummer!!!! I was so excited when I saw the email from Disney Destinations but it was nothing :confused3:confused3.....

We did CRT and the Akershus in Epcot last time we went. It was neat eating in the castle, but my girls were 4 and 2 at the time, so I think it was lost on them. Akershus was all the princesses, the same ones at CRT, for me CRT was not worth the money. 1900 Park Fare is awesome for dinner. It's Cinderella, Prince Charming, the stepsisters and Evil Stepmother. Cinderella and the Prince dance in the middle of the dining area during dinner, and then they dance with the children, my daughter got to dance with Cinderella---priceless moment!! We did that when they were 3 and 1 and are going back to that one this year. The best princess character meal/greeting by far!! Akeshus and 1900 Park Fare are each one dining credit and in my opinion, I would do both of those over CRT. But your daughter may get a big kick out of eating in a castle!

OMG, this is WHY I LOVE THIS BOARD!!! You know.. She'll get to see the castle sooo, I think I'll do the 1900 Park Fare dinner. That sounds amazing!!!
I think she would get a kick out of seeing them dance as well as seeing the evil stepmother/sisters. :yay:
Thank you so much for this idea!!
What's your experience with seeing the characters (mickey, minnie, etc.) within the park? I don't want to get too overwhelmed with character dinners. Figuring that we can still meet them in the parks. :confused3

We found the Character spot at Epcot is the best place to see the Fab 5. We usually go very late when the park is almost closed and have had luck with little to no wait. I felt Chef Mickey's was a waste of a dining credit the food IMHO was not very good and the characters are rushed.
I have to tell you 1900 PF dinner and Akershus are my 2 favorite meals that we have been too. The Prince carried our 1 year old son around and the step sisters were teasing my husband it was great! Also when we were at Akershus snow white kissed DS and he wore that kiss all day long :cloud9:

Oh and at DHS there is a meet in great near Playhouse Disney and no one was in line :worship: Mickey was great and in his sorcerer outfit he posed for 30 pictures with our DS and danced with him etc......

Just wondering if your discount is from a PIN? We just got our airline tickets and are going the same dates as you. :goodvibes

Yes, my husband got a PIN on his company email back in April. How that happened I have no idea. He has never even registered on Disney, he has never priced a Disney trip or ordered anything from Disney. I do all of that. His email address is even a new one that his company created for him in January so how they got that email adress is beyond me

Airline tickets were tricky this year, we have always flown Airtran since I could always get better fairs through them. We normally flew round trip non stop for about $200-$215 but now that they are merging with Southwest they have pulled out of the DFW area and SW is $286 one way:scared1:
To get the best fairs this year, we are flying American out there non stop and Delta back with one stop, but I got my flight for $101 each way so with fee's and all, it came to about $225 per person round trip. Not bad but I had to really shop for those.

We didn't really stop to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, etc. in the park b/c we did do a character meal where we got to meet them all. So I would not be a good one to advise you on that. If you did do one more meal, I would do one where all the main characters are presesnt: Chef Mickey's (we liked) and Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom (we also liked this one and they are dressed is Safari gear). The best would have to be Mickey's Backyard BBQ--great food, good entertainment, they have a band/singers that perform country music. There is a dancefloor, last year, again our girls were 4 and 2, ate very fast so they could dance the rest of the time. And we could sit in our seats or get up and dance with them, the characters danced. My little one held Mickey's hand while he led the kids around the pavillion in a dance train. I cannot remember if they did autographs at this, but the other memories/photos I got are way better than an autograph! It is a two meal credit, but way worth it!!

So as far as waiting in line at the parks it's hard for me to say, we got the main people at the meals and then at the parks I waited in line 45 min for Tiana/Naveen and then 1-1.5 hours for Tinkerbell (only did that b/c it was raining and we had nothing else to do). We waited a little while for other characters, Pinnochio, Mary Poppins/Bert, etc. But to me these are more obscure characters that you won't necessarily see in a character meal, so I didn't mind waiting on them. But I really think if you waited in line for every character you've never seen, you could lose a whole day of play getting autographs. That's why I like character meals, knock out two things at one time: eating and greeting!

As stated elsewhere, the stepsisters at 1900 Park Fare are very funny, they really get into character.

If you are going at Christmastime they will have the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I would highly recommend that too, we haven't done it but we did the Not So Scary Halloween Party two years in a row--it was awesome. Alot of character interaction there are dance parties set up in different areas, my girls danced with Woody and Jesse from TS, Daisy and my oldest did the "twist" when she was 3. So much fun, and they will have special character meetings at these--Minnie and Mickey in Christmas clothes, and then other obscure characters. Last year at the Halloween party they had characters from the Jungle Book and Lion King, I had never seen a Jungle Book character.

Good luck, so excited for your family. It brings back great memories for me to retell all this, I cannot wait myself!!

CALL ME FRUSTRATED! I called to see if I had the free dining PIN attached to mine or my husbands name, I was told yes. She was adding all the info and then she says.......hold one moment, I am having technical difficulties and we were cut off :headache:
I immediately called back and the girl I talked to this time ask for my name, my husbands name and my 21 year old daughters name. She searched and said that she couldn't find anything under any of our names:guilty:
I explained what I had been told just a few minutes ago and she tried to say that the PIN must have expired..........WHAT???? A PIN for December won't expire in 5 minutes. Not sure she realizes how crazy that sounded but anyway, she said that there is nothing that I can do:confused:

This is the first time I have heard of a PIN for free dining for December.

If it is true it is great. I would call back again. I am betting that the first person was wrong.

Thanks for the heads up - time to call.

I called today to book BWI CL and was told I had QSDP attached to my name:confused3. No thanks!!!! I am hoping DW comes out with another round of 40-42% off discounts on deluxes like they have the past few years. Also, the CM I spoke to said they were having system issues and I'd have to callback to book.:confused3

Can you just call periodically to see if there is a PIN attached to your name(s)? I thought I read somewhere that they won't tell you that anymore.

I called a couple of times today, since I was told Thursday that I had a free dining PIN code but this morning the 1st girl I talked to said that I didn't so I called again. The 2nd girl that I talked was great, I explained what I had been told, she searched and searched everyone in my families name and couldn't find anything, but she said, "don't give up. Watch your email and your snail mail and call us back periodically to check." She also said, "it is really too early for a December promo to the public, they normally don't come out till sometime in August." I told her that I had a couple of friends (disboard friends:thumbsup2) that have gotten PIN codes for December and she responded, "yes, there are some PIN codes that randomly go out but don't give up hope, cause if you don't get one of those, there should be a public code once they look at the crowds (or lack there of) for the December time frames." She offered alot of information that gave me some hope of a December free dining promo:yay:

Is there any way to call without spending half your night listeing to that computer voice that never recognizes what I am saying? I hate investing 10 minutes of voicemail just to hear I dont have a code. I'd much rather they tell me "No you dont" and send me on my merry way. (Actually Id rather hear I have a code and them I am done but that isnt happening anytime soon...)
