December 2009 - A Celebration of many things

Don't thumbs up me just yet... I still haven't called... :sad2:
i have faith in you young grasshopper! :lmao:

I'm sure if i had a family, I wouldn't be able to do two jobs! I'm doing it now while I can. :cutie:
well, even without kiddos, it is still a lot of work, no pun intended. :) and definitely go for it on the marketing jobs- I am a Marketing Director for a medical company and I don't have any design ability myself (other than telling someone else what I want, lol). I work with a few freelancers that do this exact thing for me- posters, print ads, brochures, spec sheets etc. I provide copy and general direction, they do the layout. Some is easy stuff, other projects require a little eye for creativity on their end. I really need to take some design classes at some point so I can do it myself. I really admire folks with this skill. it is definitely a vaulable skill and you can make some good cash. i know we pay anywhere from $50 $75 an hour to some of our freelancers.

Okay, I've heard that you shouldn't tell people that are close to your real life (as apposed to my DIS life :lmao:) because there could be name thievery. Like I would never tell my SIL or any of our other family members what the names were because if someone slipped and then the name was stolen there would be a preggo throw down!!! But as I said this is my DIS life so we're safe.

So our girl name is Anja Renee. Anja pronounced like Anya (with a long A sound), but we're weird and want to spell it with a "J". Renee is after my dear friend that passed away. And our boy name is Gavin Richard. Richard is after my Dad.
LOVE the Anja name!! there was an Anya on Angel or buffy- love that name!

my girl name is Samantha. Maybe Samantha Jane. A good friend of mine has twins (after using my fertility doc!). She named one Samantha. So if i ever have a girl, i know my friend used that name, but I don't care, i love it! My boy name is William (Will) Reed. Reed after my dad's middle name and was my grandma's middle name too. William, we both just liked it- we like traditional names. We planned to call him Will, but we actually use William a lot more often than not. But i hate Bill, Billy, and most of all, Willy- yes one of his day care friends calls him Willy. :rotfl::confused3

Can I hijack your PTR to offer up a Cheap Chic tip for our fellow DISsers?

Cheap Chic Trick: Buy "Today's Meat." I bought 2 packages of sliced steak for stir fry ($3.79 & $4.54) and 4 packages of turkey meatballs ($3.49 each) today. They all had the "Today's Meat" sticker on them. The total before the coupons ($1.50 on the steak & $2.00 on the meatballs) was $22.29 - but after the coupons I paid $11.29! :cool2: SCORE!

I came home, put them in freezer bags and tossed 'em in the chest freezer!

Made spaghetti tonight and tried the new meatballs (have never tried the turkey ones) and they were DELICIOUS! :thumbsup2

Hope this helps!!! :goodvibes
yum!!! i love buying meat on sale and freezing it too. you can find some really good deals that way.

Those are sweet :goodvibes

My daughter is Madilynn Kathleighn (Grandma's middle name was Kathleen, mom's middle is Leigh) and our son would/will/could be Cortland Hendrix (DF loves Jimi Hendrix, so I found a nifty way to incorporate it)

Hey...My middle name is Leigh! So funny to hear someone else that spells it that way! And, not the same as Jimi Hendrix, but same era...James (Gwad) is actually named after Jim Morrison! LOL That's pretty funny!

We always had names picked out for both sexes each pregnancy just in case. I always found out what we were having, but you never know!!! Actually, the first time we only bought boy clothes and it was only James. Anyway, for Lexi if she was a boy it was Gage Ethan. For Pooty if he was a girl, it was Grace Madison. Each time I liked the name so much that the next animal got named after the unused kids names! LOL But, no more baby naming for me!! Three and done!

Started reading your report tonight and just wanted to say hi! I love your attitude. It will get you far in life! Thanks for sharing your planning with us. December will be here before we know it!

That's pretty! Just... you know... don't be surprised if both you and your daughter spend the rest of your lives having to routinely tell folks, "No. It's An-ya. Not An-ja. No J. Just say it 'Anya.' " :cutie: I've spent the majority of my existence having to correct people on a regular basis on the spelling of my first name, but I'm happy to report that they (usually) get the pronunciation part at least! :goodvibes

LOL thanks, I know what you mean. Our dogs name is Brynn (because she is brindle colored) so the name just fit. but for the longewst time both the Dad's insisted on calling her Brie. I finally told both of them "It's BryNN!!! She's not a cheese!!"

DH and I always had such traditional names, Nicole and Gregory (Greg, he's only Gregory to his mother when he's in trouble) and we have a funky streak in us and kind of like our children to having different names. That and we would like for them to not run into someone else with that name. I love the name Olivia and Sophia but both are super popular. And we love Aidan, but again very popular and it was stolen by my cousin. That's okay that because she had 3 girls and then finally had a little boy.

I like Anja - it's Princess worthy!!! princess:

Awww thanks!!

Most definitely, highjack away!!! If anyone has any Cheap CHic tips please feel free to share them, knowledge is power!!! :)

LOL then naming thread!!! :lmao: I know what you are talking about with the nickname thing. My name is Nicole and the only nickname I have ever gone by, or will answer to is Nic, or Cole but it is only acceptable for family to call my Cole, or Coley (my Dad and my aunts specifically) My friends mostly call me Nicole, sometimes Nic. Greg and I call each other by our very strange pet names but in referring to me he will call my Nic or Nicole. I am by no means a Nikki, at all. I have even, very nicely, asked people to not call me Nikki. If I introduce myself as Nicole that means that's what I want to be called. My nieces name is Victoria and I cringe when someone calls her Vicki!!!

Hey...My middle name is Leigh! So funny to hear someone else that spells it that way! And, not the same as Jimi Hendrix, but same era...James (Gwad) is actually named after Jim Morrison! LOL That's pretty funny!

:lmao: That's funny!! I love the name Audrey because I am a HUGE Audrey Hepburn fan. However my Grandmother is also Audrey, but she's not so nice. Definitely the mean Grandma, not the nice one. Anyway Greg said we could never name our little girl Audrey because everyone would just assume it's after mean Grandma. :lmao: I think it's nice you were able to get a little tribute in there!!

Started reading your report tonight and just wanted to say hi! I love your attitude. It will get you far in life! Thanks for sharing your planning with us. December will be here before we know it!

Hello!!!! And welcome to my PTR. We are currently in the middle of a discussion regarding baby names (babies already born, and babies still just a dream-as is in my case) LOL I'm not sure how this whole thing got started, but I just love when a conversation takes a sharp left turn!! Anyone else have some names they want to share!?!?!

Anyway, thank you for reading and thanks for the compliment on a positive attitude. I try to look at things in terms of "what was the good that came out of this." Even the bad things that happen end up, sometimes in the long run, having something good behind it!!

Wanna play Small World?! My middle name is Grace!

Mine is Marie. Anyone, anyone??? :confused3

I always thought I was the type of person that did not hang on to things. My mom is the worst, her house does not have a basement or an attic and she turned her garage into a dining room like 20 years ago. So the only kind of storage she has was a few small crawl spaces. So mom does not hold onto anything. If it does not have a spot, it gets throw out. Needless to say she has a very meticulous house. Now I always thought I inherited this from Mom, the not holding onto a lot of things. I do have her organizationalism and her need to have things in their place, but I apparently hold on to more than I realized. I was going through my closet at her house and was shocked at the things I have found that will now be coming to Disney with us!! So these are my Disney must brings, some are new things, some are relatively new things, and some things are from our last trip. (PS-I was fooling around with the different settings on my camera, which is why the light looks different in some of them)

Lets start at the beginning. Greg and I had so much to bring back the last time we had to invest in another carry on bag for our breakables. I had forgotten about this bag until it was uncovered in a box at Mom’s. So now it will serve as my carry on. I like that I will be Disney-fied from the second I leave the house for the airport.

This is my Disney water bottle. It was part of the Earth Day promotion (hence Mickey hugging the world) but it was a left over and I got it for a steal. Normally it was $19.50, I know!! But it was marked down and then I got an additional 20% off so it only cost me $7. It is also good for the parks because I know it will not leak in my backpack, it has a screw cap.
ry%3D400

Greg is similar but it is an advertisement for some movie. He works for a concessions company that supplies candy and concessions to movie theatres and stadiums (they also do the candy in Blockbuster, Staples, Party City and a few other places like that). Anyway they always get all sorts of movie promotional items and this aluminum water bottle was one of them. YAY FOR FREE WATER BOTTLE!!!

These next several pictures are of my various shirts I will be touring Disney in. This first one is my Mickey Earth Day t-shirt. I thought this would be good to wear when we go to AK as it’s about conservation and loving the earth. Anyway I got it this past Earth Day to wear when we went to see Earth.
ry%3D400

This is my Jack t-shirt, purchased this past summer. I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, one of our favorites. Greg has a Jack shirt too, he doesn’t know it yet but we will be wearing them on the same day.
ry%3D400

This is my brand new Kermit t-shirt. I am super excited about this one, and it’s the only one that I have vowed to keep new for the trip. The tags will stay on until it’s time to pack.
ry%3D400

I had forgotten about this shirt. My MIL bought it for me for my shower. I thought it was cute because it says “And they lived happily ever after” Plus I love Cinderella
ry%3D400

And, of course my tie dye Mickey shirt.
ry%3D400

These next two are my sweatshirts. The first one I got the last time we were in Disney. It is a children’s size so I got a little bit of a deal on it. And this is the anniversary gift I got from Greg. As I said the trip is the gift but this was so I “had something to open”

My Mickey watch. This was the first watch I ever owed. I asked Santa for a Mickey watch for Christmas when I was 7. Years later I found it in my Mom’s jewelry drawer, so I had the band and battery replaced and now it’s good as new!!
ry%3D400

My target $1 section socks. What a steal!! Mickey, Minnie, and Kermit the Frog, to wear with my Kermit shirt of course!!
ry%3D400

Muppets change purse for pressed pennies/quarters. I found this at Target before our last trip and it worked as a storage receptacle for my pressed pennies and quarters.

These were being discussed on the Christmas thread and I just had to get us some. They are called Holiday Specs and they give a cool affect to the Osborne Lights. I ordered them through this website http://www.holidayinnovations.com/Holiday_Specs2.htm They are set up through Pay Pal so you can order with no worries.
img_order_holiday_specs.jpg

To hold our Key to the Kingdom card and our fast passes and our Photo Pass I have purchased these. They were $10 a piece, a little pricey for a retractable ID holder, but they were so cute I couldn’t help myself. I have heard that Disney is going green and you no longer use bracelets during PM EMH, you are required to show your resort ID/key before you get on each ride. This will make it a lot easier than having to get it out every time, and I cannot be trusted, things magically fall out of my pocket.

The only thing I have left to purchase for our trip is my gorillapod. I have a fancy camera so I might as well use it for some good night time and fireworks shots. I’m holding out to see if it goes on sale anywhere, so far no luck. But other than that, a few toiletries, and some snacks/breakfast foods and then we’re pretty much set for everything we need. It’s really just so exciting, if I could literally start putting things in the suitcase without Greg making fun of me I would. Although he teases me all the time, so what’s one more thing right? Greg is excited, but not on the level I am. He’s a reserved sort of person that is excited but not on the level we are. We are a special bread, my friends. So his excitement reaches the peak like the second we get on the plane. He’s more of a technical person, whereas I am more imaginative. So he’s hard for him to imagine how much fun something is going to be, he’s got to experience it.

Trivia
Day 51: What name did the White Rabbit call Alice? (I know this is a rediculous question, I think Greg was running out of good ones)
Day 50: True or False: In Kilimanjaro Safaris, you board your safari vehicle from the left side.

Cheap Chic Tip: Okay ladies and gentlemen, this is a good one! A jewel so to say. Mickey's Mart in DTD, everything is under $10! Between the two of us we have 7 siblings, 5 nieces and nephews (one more on the way), and another 9 children we buy Christmas gifts for on top of ourselves and our parents. It just adds up to be a lot! We try to keep the children gifts in the $10-$15 range, which is kind of hard and my search for good yet reasonable children gift usually starts in like October. Since we'll be in Disney that's where most if the shopping is getting done. Mickey's Mart will be a lifesaver for us. Plus I am saving myself from post trip/pre holiday stress by shopping in Disney.

PS-If anyone out there has any Cheap Chic tips please feel free to share them. A dollar saved is a Disney dollar!!!

That water bottle looks awful familiar ! I grabbed it when it was severely discounted too!

Everything looks great! I gotta get to the Disney store soon... maybe this weekend. Oh, and I love you CC tip! :thumbsup2

Big news!!!!! BIG NEWS!!!!

WAIT FOR IT....

I PRE ORDERED MY PHOTO PASS CD!!!!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Woo hoo, do a little dance, shake the the bootay!!!

I am actually way more excited about this than I thought I would be about this. I think it is because it is yet another thing that makes it feel more official. Paying the balance was like that. I paid it last week, last Monday to be exact and I don't feel I gave it the attention it deserved. It was nice getting an email from Disney with a zero at the bottom line!! :yay:

Anyway, I know my ticker currently says 1 month, 2 weeks, and 5 days but I spend my days watching the clock go backwards. Ahhh the things we do for a pay check. SO...I started to think of new ways to count down. We currently have 50 days left (49 as of tomorrow and today is almost over so lets go with 49) OR

Only 7 more Fridays until we leave OR

Only 35 more work days until I leave (well technically 34 because I am taking off 10/30 to do the Christmas Carol train thing) OR

Only 144 hours worth of Wednesdays left OR

Only 52.5 hours worth of work commuting left (wow I waste a lot of time driving to and from work everyday!!) OR

Only 84 more cups of coffer (I average about two per week day and one on sat and sun)

Anyone else!?!?! Alright, give me a break, it's 4:30, I'm ready to go home, there was minimal to do today and very few phone calls.

A gorilla pod is a travel size tripod that can literally stick to anything, wrap around anything and be put in any position.
http://joby.com/gorillapod

I really is the coolest thing I have ever seen an it comes highly recommended. If I wanted to take a picture off the side of the cliff, the gorilla pod could do it.

wow it looks like your gettin everything in order!!!! I totally agree with bringing your own glasses for Osbourne. The ones they had last year did not cost a lot. I bought 4 for my family but we used them for like 2 mintues and put them away. I'm pretty sure I threw mine away so I guess this year if we get a pair we'll get one and share :) Nice shirts!! My manager/core team members at AK would LOVE your shirt, they are afterall conservation heroes!!!

Thanks for the welcome and I'll just jump right in, K? My middle name is Ann not Anne (my mom's middle name) and I think that your kids names are already "predestined?" I think God just lets you THINK you named them. When we had our first, we went into the hospital with 2 names: Ashley Rose and Katie Lynn. When she was born, we looked at each other and said "Katie Lynn." There was no question and she is so much more a Katie than an Ashley. When we were pregnant with our 2nd, I was watching and probably crying to another episode of a Baby Story and the little boy's name was Joseph Ryan. I really liked that and my husband's grandfather (who died before he was born)'s name was Joseph. When he got home that day (I was on bedrest), I told him the name and he said, "Ryan Joseph, " and I agreed that was it. It just came so easily. I mean we spent months looking at names but when the right name came along...it just felt right. Sorry to hijack your thread but I wanted to share. :rolleyes1 Feel free to hijack mine anytime. I just started. :yay:

WOW! You are all set, huh?!! Great Disney shirts!
Congrats on the PIF! (Don't know if I already said it or not?) And, glad you got that photo cd ordered. I am going to do that right after the trip is PIF. I think it will be like the first week or so in November. Of course, I could wait until the end of November or mid-November and still be ok.

I think maybe that's exactly why I love traditional, "classy" sounding names... Because "Billie" is so uncommon for a female. I've spent my life always being questioned about my name (and it made life HE!! all through school), so I want my kids to have "normal"-ish names. :lmao: Regardless, though... I just love, like I said, very classy sounding names. Alexandra is my second choice. Alexandra Michelle. :lovestruc And as for "Olivia," I fell in love with that name years ago before it hit the popularity that it was in the last 5 years or so. Go figure!

My nieces name is Victoria and I cringe when someone calls her Vicki!!!
Agreed! I love the name Victoria, but would pass on naming a child that because I think Vicky is :crazy2:. All the names I've chosen, I've also gone through the list of possible nicknames she/he could end up with as they grow up (despite my protesting), and made sure they are all shortened versions that I could be happy with. :rotfl:

:lmao: That's funny!! I love the name Audrey because I am a HUGE Audrey Hepburn fan. However my Grandmother is also Audrey, but she's not so nice. Definitely the mean Grandma, not the nice one. Anyway Greg said we could never name our little girl Audrey because everyone would just assume it's after mean Grandma. :lmao: I think it's nice you were able to get a little tribute in there!!
Same! I really like "Audrey," but a friend from high school already nabbed it. DOH!

Mine is Marie. Anyone, anyone??? :confused3
My middle name is Jo. Maybe our own JoJo1980 can relate to that one. ;)

Ron is exactly the same way, and he knows it. I spend three months brimming with joy and talking about an upcoming trip. He is excited, as in he's looking forward to it, but it doesn't actually hit him until he's on his way. Then he's out-right giddy. :rotfl:

Also, thank you for sharing those pics! You've got some super-cute stuff! :cutie:

I PRE ORDERED MY PHOTO PASS CD!!!!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Woo hoo, do a little dance, shake the the bootay!!!
Grats!!! :goodvibes I personally am sooooo torn on the PhotoPass CD. I just.... ugh. I know it's a great idea, especially for us. I want pictures of us together that aren't taken by one of us holding the camera out at arm's length, LOL. But then it's so hard for me to throw down $100 for photos that I haven't even seen yet! :headache: Especially since I'm so picky about pictures of myself. I have quite a large double-chin and I'm verrrrrry self-conscious about it. I don't keep any pictures that I think make me look like Mr. Toad. :sad2:

We had some preggo throw downs in Kents family, 2 members both having girls due within a few days of eachother, it was a race for the name Mya. My SIL lost out but she named her baby girl Adalynn and I actually like that better.

I love the name Anja is sounds so gorgeous.

My son's name is James Deforest. James after James Hetfield from Metallica and Deforest after my Dad, all his family had different names, he has a brother Solomon Theodor, we call him S.T. and another brother Gustavious, a sister named Leela, I love that.

Reese's real name is Maureesa, I wanted to name her Maurie after my BFF but the ex wouldn't allow that, so I thought If I named her Maureesa I could just call her Maurie for short, but Reese stuck instead, her full name is Maureesa Michele. Funny thing is, he didn't even come to the hospital when she was born, I could have named her whatever I wanted and he wouldn't have had a say at all.

I love all your Disney must brings, especially that Kermit shirt. I need to find me a Disney store. If not hopefully they will have some Kermie shirts at DHS.

Thanks for the welcome and I'll just jump right in, K? My middle name is Ann not Anne (my mom's middle name) and I think that your kids names are already "predestined?" Isn't that funny, I think fate has a lot to do with all aspects of life. DH and I have played the name game since before we were married, we've been through thousands of names and we sort of just happened on these two. Again, welcome and thanks for tagging along!!

Yes I believe we are all set! The other night I even went through my toiletry stash so I can update my list of things I will need to purchase. I ended up finding the link for the pre-order so I just ordered it. It's a nice feeling to pay off the trip and to know anything saved now is for spending. We have our tip money so everything else will be for shopping. That's a nice feel too, to know that the only money you have to worry about it the money you want to spend. I have to tell you, this is our first experience with the DDP, and already I love it. Of course I love it more because it was free!!

Alexandra Michelle. :lovestruc And as for "Olivia," I fell in love with that name years ago before it hit the popularity that it was in the last 5 years or so. Go figure!

That's funny. My kids will probably grow up and name their children Sally and John!! :lmao: Olivia is a beautiful name, LOL but I go against the grain and insisted that my children have a unique name. I have also loved the name Sophia FOREVER, but again very popular, and DH says it reminds him of the Golden Girls. Which was fine with me because I loved the Golden Girls and now that it is on WE all the time even DH watches it with me!!! :rotfl2:

Grats!!! :goodvibes I personally am sooooo torn on the PhotoPass CD. I just.... ugh. I know it's a great idea, especially for us. Toad. :sad2:

Personally I would get it!! More so because it is your DBF first visit and the convenience of it totally make it a winner. I know it is $100, but I think it will be worth every penny. Plus you are working so hard, what's the point of all that working if you don't splurge a little. If you can't swing it then I would say no big deal, if you can then invest the money and you will be very happy you did.

We had some preggo throw downs in Kents family, 2 members both having girls due within a few days of eachother, it was a race for the name Mya. My SIL lost out but she named her baby girl Adalynn and I actually like that better.

I love the name Anja is sounds so gorgeous.

HEHEHE preggo throw downs!! LOL I got a little fight in me and a bad temper! I could totally take my SIL!! Anyway that's why the names will remain a secret to the family and close friends. I actually like the name Adalynn better too.

Thanks!! I just thought the name was so nice and simple and so beautiful sounding.

My son's name is James Deforest. James after James Hetfield from Metallica and Deforest after my Dad, all his family had different names, he has a brother Solomon Theodor, we call him S.T. and another brother Gustavious, a sister named Leela, I love that.

Funny side note, our entrance song at our wedding was Enter Sandman! 1) Because it's just an awesome song and 2) because it is the greatest entrance song in all sports (Mariano Rivera - Yankee closer)

I really like the name Reese as a nickname. And it sounds very artsy so it goes. I'm glad you're with a nice guy like Kent now. I haven't heard much about your ex but he seems like a monster. Who doesn't go to the hospital when your wife gives birth!?!?! :confused3 Is Michele after anyone or just a name you liked?

I love all your Disney must brings, especially that Kermit shirt. I need to find me a Disney store. If not hopefully they will have some Kermie shirts at DHS.

I'm actually very excited about my must brings, to the point where I have been thinking about my outfits and what I want to wear on each day. LOL

There is an entire Muppet store in DHS right by Muppset 3D. I got a sketch of Miss Piggy the last time I was there. They have tons of different Muppet stuff, I'm sure you'll find some shirts there.

I will be at Port Orleans Riverside the first week of december! :santa:

US TOO!!!!! We'll be arriving on 12/3 LOL and now that you know my wardrobe you can be on the look out for me. :lmao: No worries, I'm friendly, but at that point I think that DH will be convinced that I can make a friend ANYWHERE!!!

I'm planning on getting one whilst there - do you know what sort of sizes they tend to go up to? Do they do heffalump size?
