We are thinking of staying at the GF Nov 30th-Dec 6th! Nothing is definite yet, but I hope we can make it work!! So, there is a AAA discount available for that time period?

Seems like we'll just miss Thanksgiving and Pop Warner, right? Sounds like a good week, no?

I just booked CSR for those exact dates using a AAA discount of 20%. I think that the deluxes are discounted up to 15%. I got this discount by calling Disney Reservations.

We are going to Disney from 12/09/08 - 12/20/2008. I have never received a coupon in the mail and am wondering how that works. I also wanted to know do they ever offer discounts for the general public for December?

Just call Disney and ask....I did it a couple of weeks ago, and discovered a 20% off room PIN was attached to my name. I was able to use it in Dec. after the 6th and before the Christmas break. We booked from the 7-15th and switch resorts in the middle. Discount applied to both stays.

Is there any hope of getting any kind of discount? I am talking about 12/19 through 12/26. It used to be that you could check in on 12/19 and get the "value" rate all week. Not only have the changed the policy but 12/19 is now holiday season.

More ominous is that if you looked at this year, there were very little discounts to be had around Easter - there was a "discount coverage gap" between 3/11 and 3/30 - no APs and very few discounts. If this trend continues in December, it is going to be awfully exensive to stay there this coming XMas.....

Well, that's kind of a given. The discounts are incentives to book the hotels up. Holidays tend to be crowded and booked, so there's really no need for Disney to offer discounts during that time.

That's why you tend to see free dining offered in September, because the kiddies are back to school and it's a slower month comparatively. Supply and demand.

Maybe you're right. It looks like the last time Christmas week was offered at a discount was 2005.

Well I called Disney today and found out that I had a code!! Now we are booked at CSR from Dec 8-13!!!

Free dining has only ever been offered late August and September. While there are usually general public codes for part of Decemeber, a lot of it is blocked out at well (Christmas week, Pop Warner week etc.) Your dates occur within PW week. (Will they exclude that week again this year since it occurs later than normal- hard to say...)

Last year, codes that covered late Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec were released Mid August with Disney Visa holders getting a 3 day jump on the general public.

I called last week and I had a code on my account. So I booked Dec 9-14 at Wilderness Lodge with the Courtyard view. It was a 40% off rack room rate but I added dining and park hopper tickets and the total was around $2100.

There are AAA rates for both room-only prices and package deals. However, if you want a AAA discount rate for a package, you need to book through AAA directly. However, if you would prefer to use your own travel agent (or one that specializes in Disney, which I suggest), the best that travel agent can do is get a room only AAA discount.

I never choose a AAA agent to book my trip because in my experience, good non-AAA travel agents will continue to look for better discounts for your trip. Whereas a AAA agent will not do this - they will get you your 20% off and expect you to be happy with that. Yes, I am certainly happy with 20% off, but if there is a better deal out there, then I am happier to have that.
