December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

Hmm, you haven't been talking to my DW, NWMom, have you? :rotfl: We are making a trip to WDW in Sept. to use some points or lose them from when we added on last year. Maybe we will see you there.

Kevin

Never know Kevin. Hubby is looking at the TOT race the end of September. This if our first year in a the last three that we won't be there this coming weekend for Marathon weekend. (bummer), but our DD is graduating from college on Sunday, so priorities :)

Hope all my fellow DISers are having a wonderful New Years Day!

I am feeling a little down today. My hubby is overseas and I won't see him till middle of February. Skype was overwhelmed at the pss so we didn't have a good connection and he looked very lonely.:guilty:

We decided to avoid in-law drama and meet him in Florida for his vacation. On his last trip home we spent so much time with:grouphug: visiting family and friends that we ended up feeling shorted on our time. Since it is something of a unplanned trip and most extra funds are spoken for we opted for a much cheaper cruise on the Norwegian Sun. I am completely regretting it....and it is really too late/difficult for us to change our schedules. :headache:

I'm hoping I will perk up as time approaches. Maybe my blues are just due to my missing my bear........:hug:Somebody tell me to snap out of it! LOL

Thank you for letting me vent

I hope you have a fabulous time in February! I'm sorry that there are rough times for your family. I'm not going to tell you to snap out of it, because it is understandable. Less than a year and we will be cruising together!!!

:welcome:MandyO:welcome: Cant wait to meet you and the rest of us on this thread later in 2012!!I am in needof a vacation today. Cant we cruise tomorrow?

We'll be there that weekend! We are headed down the Sept 29th- Oct 6th. The girls are growing so much, we won't always have the flexibility we have right now! It seems like the activities get in the way so much of the time!

Hope everyone is enjoying their first week in the new year!

We booked and now we wait almost a whole year!

I too would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: MandyO and family to the cruise. This is going to be a great cruise.

Happy New Year everyone,

That means our cruise is now this year:woohoo::woohoo:

David, Haven't heard from you in awhile and I know you and your DW have not been feeling well. Are you two doing ok now?

I have 3 whole days off. More than I had the whole month of December.

Kevin

Hi kevin and everyone. Yes thank you DW and I are feeling better. Still not at 100% - we both caught colds after all of the nasty stuff finally left. Now just a scratchy throat and cough - but a whole lot better!!!

Good for you Kevin, getting those days off. You can get some much needed R&R now.:thumbsup2 Is your work schedule going to go back to normal now that the holidays are over with?

We had a nice Christmas and a quiet New Year. Oh yes by the way

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!
Is everyone planning to keep their New Year's resolutions???!!! I know I won't!!! In fact I didn't even make any this year. Well, sorta did, I haven't gotten on the ol' torture machine since before Thanksgiving!!! (If my doctor only knew!!!) Oh well, now that I am back to my part-time status:cool1::cool1::banana::banana: - starting this week - I plan to ge on that #@$*%@#&*$#@!!! thing starting this week-end. And by the way - #@$*%@#&*$#@ is the nicer name I call that thing!!!

Well I hope ya'll have a great NEW YEAR and a safe one. We just have 11 1/2 months to go now everybody!!!!:woohoo:

I've been using the same resolution for the last few years. It is: "APPLY WHAT I KNOW".

After being around for quite a few decades, I KNOW what works for my body/lifestyle for dieting/healthy eating, what works for stress reduction, what it takes in maintaining relationships with friends and family, what I have to do to keep from going insane at work....I just don't always seem to remember to APPLY what I know. :sad2:

.

I made the decision last year to not make a resolution. I decided that when I set out to diet or exercise I don't follow through. Last year (actually on December 30th) I decided I was going to get healthy. I've finally learned 'how to eat' and I enjoy exercising. Here is a photo from our trip December 2010 and then our trip a month ago.

I hope to continue this getting healthy. I'm working towards a 'normal' weight for the first time in my adult life (well except for my wedding when I crash dieted to get to an 'all time low', but that was more than 28 years ago).

I'd say a job well done for eating right and getting healthy!

CONGRATULATIONS pjstevens on eating right and exercising.:thumbsup2

About four years ago our family doctor said he was retiring soon and suggested we start seeing another family doctor. He gave us the name of a new young doctor who had just started his practice. I made an appointment with him, and the first thing he told me was he wanted me to lose some weight. He said I would feel better and it would be better for my heart. DW had wanted to start exercising as well so we went out and bought the TORTURE MACHINE!!! This is an eliptical - TORTURE MACHINE!!! (Are you starting to see a pattern here!!) Well, after a not to sucessful start on the TORTURE MACHINE I stuck it out. And, now I have lost a total of 30 pounds, with my new diet DW put us on and my daily work out on the TORTURE MACHINE!!! I have in the past month taken a break with the exercising, still eating well though, and I haven't added any weight back on.:thumbsup2:woohoo: But I know I need to get back to exercising - and I am starting again today. So it's going to be me and the TORTURE MACHINE back at it again today. The moral of this little story is - I hate that TORTURE MACHINE - no, no, no, no, that ain't right.................stick to your goals and you will be be rewarded!!! (Still hate that TORTURE MACHINE though!!!!)

David, I cannot wait to meet you, I laugh at your posts many of times. It's not that I 'like' to go work out, but I do feel so much better once I do. I like the 'torture machine'; hubby does not, he's one for the treadmill and free weights (I like those too).

Thanks Dee. I 'thought' I didn't look too bad last year (I'm about 35# down from a few years ago there) but then when I saw them side by side, i was a bit blown that I actually managed to get 50 more off. Hoping for another 25 off before our Yo-Ho-Ho-Ho Cruise :)

Glad to see you and DW are doing better. We have one of those torture machines also, a treadmill. I also need to get back on it again. My work week is slowing down but not as little as yours. Looking like 6 days a week for awhile.

Kevin

Went down to Port Canaveral today to see the Diseny Ship. It was freezing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I think it is warmer in CT. The wind here is awful. Hope it is warmer next Dec.

That's awesome...congrats on your achievements and best wishes on your goals.
I'm finishing chemo this month  and hope to drop at least 25 before our sailing. :woohoo:

I need to rearrange the furniture to make the treadmill more usable. Have decided to have it face the television. (in the past I found I walked faster while watching shows like Castle that have intense plots. The more intense the plot the faster I walk.)

I have told DH that we are going to pretend that the television only works by gerbil/hamster power.

One of US on the treadmill. One of us on the exercise bike.

:wishseventy for me to get back to healthy weight.
I really just hope for the energy that will come with getting back in shape.
Replacing soda pop with water. One day at a time too.
