December 13, 2008 Western Caribbean!! Let's get acquainted!

Welcome Sommer! On our last cruise our DD was 2 1/2, we played a lot in the splash pool (which should be on the Magic also by the time we cruise). We took her everywhere with us, including the movie theater and on port days we usually just found a nice beach and settled in.
The problem is that she is the youngest of 4, and definitely plays better alone than any of the older ones (it seems like each kid gets less one on one attention as you have more). I imagine if we took our oldest on a cruise at that age we would have had much more interesting things to do with her, instead of just dragging the little one around where the big kids wanted to go!

HI and welcome Sommer! This is our first cruise, so no help there. My girls will be 4 and 28 months when we go. We are getting closer!
thanks for the welcome KATIESMOMMY...we've done the Magic once before pre-kids, it was a blast with just my nieces and nephew. this will definitely be a completely different experience with our own munchkin this time. you guys will love it, Disney truly does it best!

thanks for the message Andrea! yes, we're planning to just drag him with us wherever we're headed, he's fairly compliant. i'm just trying to round up some sale items for the cruise as I know they might be tough to find in December, wish I knew how much he was planning to grow by then!? all else fails we can shop on the ship right!?

Welcome Sommer!
I have been buying summer clothes that have gone on sale already...Geesh, I don't understand why they put out winter jackets and long sleeve shirts and take away the shorts and short sleeve shirts so early. We live in the "SUNSHINE STATE" for goodness sake! It is HOT and HUMID here 99% of the time. I just don't get it.

DS was 5 on our first cruise and he seemed to want to be at the kids club all the time. We had to make him eat with us. While at the ports we just rented a car and went off and did our own thing this way when he got tired we could just pack up and leave. I know your little one is alot younger and the kids club is not an option at this time. I'm sure you'll find plenty of things to do with him though.

michele,
no kidding, they need to relax with getting the next season's gear out so early, it's still 95 here in LA and they've got scarves on the racks! i like the car rental idea, thanks!

LA as in Cali? or Louisiana? We are in San Dimas, AP holders too! Maybe we're nearby!

DUH I just realized 626 in ur name. We're in the 9-0-9, no chance you listen to KROQ and hear what they have to say about us rednecks?!

I had to order bathingsuits ONLINE for DD's from Kohl's because most stores around here are SOLD OUT! GEESH!

nearby indeed, Pasadena!! howdy neighbor! in fact, DH & i are having a date night tonight at the Magic Kingdom.:smickey: we haven't been w/o DS since becoming APs, so we thought we'd ride Space Mountain together for once!:woohoo:
i'll wave on our way to the 57!:wave2:

Andrea, DD has to order her bathing suit off line too! Even some of the sites have NO BATHING SUITS IN STOCK! I will most likely look at one of the tourist shops in Kissimmee for one for me just before we cruise.

:wave2: Hi All,

:) Hi,
Ship will have all Holiday decorations up as of the Thanksgiving sailing, weather should be warm. I went last December (first Week) and it was still warm to me, that was at all locations..Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.. Went touring in Key west, snorkeling in Cayman and to Paradise beach on Cozumel...and a whole beach day on Castaway Cay... I hope this helps...
If you want me to make you a Green Mickey head sign just PM me with your info..
Have a nice weekend,
gg

Welcome grumpy-gramps (John) and cripps626 (Sommer)!:welcome:

I've added you to the first page of our thread... a roll call of sorts!

Haven't been spending much time at the computer this summer, I suspect that after the weather turns maybe we will all "chat" more on this thread.:surfweb:

John-- I like your door sign and name tag... actually I mostly admire your Disney spirit! I wish my DH had the slightest interest in checking out the stuff on the DIS and planning our trip. He'll have fun when we actually get there...that is until he turns into "grumpy-dad" to borrow the nickname! That won't happen on the cruise, however, more likely sometime in the parks the week before!

Did you all buy park tickets last month before prices went up? I am glad I was on top of that. Near as I can tell we only saved $18, but heck, that's a couple cheeseburgers, as we like to say.

Marcy

Welcome to our group John!

I love your Door signs the are great. I wish I was artistic or computer savvy:worship: I am neither so I just wing it.

Sommer, Both of our past cruises have been at the beginning of Dec and the weather was just about perfect on both. Well when we left Port Canaveral in 2003 it was very chilly, but once we got away from Florida the weather was beautiful. (that was the Eastern). In 2006 when we went the weather was beautiful until we hit C.C and then a storm came up and it was a bit chilly. DS was the only one who got into the water(out of our family of four) and that was only for a short time. (he then went to the kids club area until time to board. The weather did end up clearing up and it turned out to be a nice day after all. DH's parasailing did get cancelled due to high winds. We did do the banana boat ride and I was surprised at how warm the water was when I got flipped off.:rotfl: As long as you stayed under water!

i didn't hear about the pending ticket price increase, schucks! all parks or only WDW?

Yea, WDW ticket prices went up about an average of 6%...
The one day ticket went from $71 to $75, but who buys a one day ticket?
The park hopper option increased from a $45 add-on to $50 per ticket.
Really, the biggest increases were on the shorter time tickets (fewer days). Although annual pass tickets went up over $20.
Prices always go up in August.... and sometimes in January also!
Pretty sure I heard prices went up for Disneyland too..

And, prices are up for parking at the Parks... to $12/day.

Sheeesh...

I thought our thread was dead. Then I realized I somehow unsubscribed and I wasn't getting the notifications when someone posts!

Sommer-I can't believe how close we are. Once school starts we'll have to meet at the parks with our little ones! (I like to sneek down there during school without the big kids....Shhh!)

sounds good andrea!
i think we're going to take a break when our APs expire come november, i think i will have had my fill for a couple of months at least, especially after the cruise.
i'm so excited we'll be cruising soon after magic is freshened up in dry dock! i hope we can find a webcam to peek at while she's in norfolk...
