December 13, 2008 Western Caribbean!! Let's get acquainted!

OMG you do have the cutest dog ever! Welcome, great to have some life here. I am planning tHe native way tour- Here is the link to their tours. I was looking at the 3 hour tour (HA!HA! flash to Gilligan's Island) but I'm not completely sold on Native Way.
http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/tours.htm

If you click on each tour it gives a description of where it goes. The "specials" link tells about the $5 off. I just realized though, that we would have to pay for our DD# through Native way, and not through Cpt Marvins, so we break even with the discount.

I may have to call Cpt Marvins and see if they would give us a deal for a group. I have 10 people already signed up, so anymore than that they may be incentive for them to work with me on a price.
Here's Cpt Marvins website. They are both essentially the same, both offer free transportation from the cruise dock & back and both go to Stingray city and 2 other locations.

Lucinda, so sorry about the puppies, how are they doing?

We had our own little pet tragedy yesterday. Our dog decided to use the turtle as a chew toy out of the blue, and poor little speed racer didn't make it. We had a rough night, lots of crying and bad dreams. DD3 keeps asking when he's going to come alive again.

I almost wish we could have found it before the kids and replaced it without questions. It's hard seeing your kids so sad, but a good lesson in life all the same...

MOMTOCUTESTDOGEVER- welcome to our board!! That is a very cute dog!

Well Eeyore made it through and is home with us. $1100 vet bill later ( can we say OUCH)but he is ok thank goodness.
I am getting so excited and have been doing alot of planning. I am become a guide over at ChaCha and am making decent money doing it so we are now thinking of upgrading to maybe AKL or WL from Pop for our before stay.
I would love to do the stingray city tour, I just dont know with a 4 year old and 2.5 yr old. Opinions??
My Carrie turns 2 on Thursday(sniff sniff, no more babies!!) and she is into all thing Mickey Mouse, no fufu princess stuff for her. I couldnt find Mickey Mouse party stuff locally at all and ended up spending close to a $100 on ebay just for plates and decorations!! The party is Saturday...think I will need a valium that day lol.

Sorry about the turtle Andrea, poor guy. I feel for you with the crying and dreams, its so hard for them at this age.

Hoping I dont threadkill again lol

Lucinda, I'm ChaCha-ing too! I LOVE IT! I am having so much fun I feel guilty that they are paying me! (OK, not really, they should pay me more!)

My "handle" is sillyandi there too. I don't have any "friends" there, maybe you can be my first!

I got a response back from Cpt Marvin's that they will offer a 5% discount for the 1/2 day excursion making it $38 for adults $ 26.13 for kids or the full day $61.75 adult/$42.75 child, if we all pay cash the day of the trip. It is free for children under 4.

If anyone is interested I am willing to coordinate the booking. Just let me know
A) how many people you have
B) which outfitter (cpt marvin or native way) you prefer
C) which tour (1/2 day or full day) you prefer.

Once I figure out the majority opinion I will book it.

Hey Lucinda-
Man, I feel bad not mentioning how sad it was to hear about your puppies before posting pics of my cute ones. Glad to hear one made it through, albiet expensive!

So what is ChaCha-ing?? Got me wondering!:confused3

Andrea-- seems like a great deal to go with the Cap'n Marvins thing...
We would be game for the 1/2 day trip (to Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef, and Stingray City). I love that "kids" are still under age 12! We'd be 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 7 & 11).

Thanks for doing the checking and likely the arranging too!

Marcy

Andrea I guess we are gonna skip on the snorkling, me and DH talked it over and the kids are just too young for the snorkle portion and I dont feel comfortable keeping them on the ship. It looks like we may do the nativeway stingrays and island trip through NW.

Marcy

Marcy- no worries! I mean it was a fluke about Minnie and the Parvo and to be honest I didnt come back and post till after it was all over. Your pups are cute though!!

ChaCha is the new great make money thing at home. You do live searches on the internet for people. get paid 15 cents a search during training or 20 cents once you get done. http://info.chacha.com/Careers/BecomeaGuide/tabid/74/Default.aspx
You have to take a couple of tests and to be honest, you have to study a bit to pass but it is amazing how quick the money adds up. It seems a lot more complicated when you first start, but nice part is you pick your own hours and work as much or as little as you want. Right now I am making about $160 a week doing it at night and some weekends when the kids are asleep!
:thumbsup2

Big Excitement here today! I received a lettter/envelope from DCL! Cute little booklet in a brown velcro folder on how to book things and excursions etc. It was like WOW, this is really happenning! * doing happy dance in my chair*

I got one yesterday too! It is a very nice packet. It included a letter letting us know that we can book ressies for Palo, excursions, etc on Sept 14th. It reassured me that they know we're coming!

Lucinda-- disregard the PM... I didn't read the above post already explaining the ChaCha thing! I might give it some thought! We really need to move the computer upstairs, however, it's brighter and sunnier. Or just get that laptop... oh wait, we're SAILING in December on our dream laptop! Stuck with this ol' desktop model for a while longer.:surfweb:
Hey, you already replied... we must be on at the same time... HI!

DH and I booked with Captain Marvin's on our cruise in May 2006, and I only have good things to say about them. But, Native Way offers a tour that stops to snorkel with the starfish . We will definitely be going with Native Way so we can see this. We have 2 in our party.

I have also been looking at excursions in Cozumel, and this company called Manta Raya divers has received really good reviews on TripAdvisor. I have sent about 4 requests to different operators in Cozumel and Fernando, the owner of MantaRaya, was the only one of the 4 to reply with something other than a form letter--none of the others answered any of my questions. So, we'll be booking through them. We are booking Tour Tres and it can be private if we have 5 people. DH and are in, so if you are interested, please let me know and I can make the arrangements. Their website is www.mantaraya.com --click on the snorkeling packages on the left hand side to see a description of the tours.

Thanks for the compliments on Mia. I never thought I could love a dog until I met her. It was love at first site. :lovestruc

Wow! This is the longest post I have ever written on the DISboards! I must be excited or something! :)

Hey everyone just thought I would pop in for a quick hello! You all have seemed to be quite busy lately.

Lucinda I am sorry to hear about the puppies.

Andrea I am sorry to hear about the turtle too!

We aren't doing any excursions except on CC. We prefer to just go off on our own. I know we are doing the turtle farm and trying to go to hell while in G.C.

We got the excursion kit last Friday. For some reason last spring they sent us two sets of those.:confused3

We are off to Disneys Fort Wilderness campground for the next week. I plan on being at the water parks alot! Our last hurrah before school starts on the 18th.

Hope everyone has a safe and good weekend.

Michele I thought we had it bad with school starting the 26th this year...The 18th? That's craziness! :rotfl: When do you get out?
We usually start back the Wed after Labor Day and get out the second week of June. This year they bumped everything up a week.

Andrea, I believe they get out the first week of June. Believe it or not our kids use to start around the 5th of August..... They use to get out around May 21st. NOT ANYMORE!

I grew up in North Western Pa. and we use to start right after labor day.

So I posted this question on the regular cruise board but I thought you all would be able to help since you are all on the same cruise. :goodvibes

I received a guide about our cruise. It was a little book that is just suppose to introduce us to Disney Cruise now that we are booked for the cruise. Inside of the book it said that there should be a calendar on the letter that came with the book stating our exact dates we can check in and start booking excursions. Problem is I didn't get a letter in my little envelope with my book. Our cruise leaves December 13 through the 20th and I have the date I should be able to start scheduling stuff pegged on Sept 29th, 2008. Can anyone tell me if this date is right? What time will I be able to book the excursions?

Yep your date is correct! Thats what it says on mine is the 29th and from what I read on here it opens like at midnight!!

Hello everyone....We sure have been awful quiet on here. I figured I would bump us up to page 1.:thumbsup2
