December 13, 2008 Western Caribbean!! Let's get acquainted!

I have been so sick! I got a sinus infection and I was in bed for a whole day, I still have a fever but it couldn't keep me away from the DIS!

I have compiled a google doc of our magnet/fish extender list that everyone can access & print before the cruise.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=phlM75-8Q1XzeVMmOWRwuPA&hl=en

Take a look at it and see if your info is correct & if there is any other info you think should be included. I will assign days to deliver your stuff at 30 days prior to cruise (Nov 13th). If you have a particular day, like pirate day or Cozumel day that you want to deliver your FE gifts on let me know, otherwise it will be random.

:surfweb: One last shot,
For the MISC column, We are celebrating our 37th wedding (on this cruise) anniversary :lovestruc ...It's actually 25 November but the cruise is when we are celebrating.

good night all,
gg

We are doing Stingray City also Charlie, using Mobydiocks... there is no way in the GC to do it without a boat because the reef is not accesible outside of watercraft.

Are you taking your DD(4), or do they also have age (5) requirement?

ty g-g!! I feel like an idiot asking all my questions! Glad you guys are so nice to help!

:thumbsup2 Thats what we'er here for,
to help on another... Just for the birthday and anniversiry folks the Romantic Encounter package now $91.00 (was $75 when we got it) is not a bad deal, so check it out.. under Exclusive Merchandise. You first timers should check it out as the items can only be purchased prior to the ship sailing by at least 3 days, I think..I've purchased some of the stuff including the bathrobes...
Under Food & Beverage we usually get the Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante
Item 1178 - Price: $35.00 it comes with petit fours and chocolate strawberries.. good stuff.... (no I don't work for Disney but to buy this stuff you have to call in the order prior to sailing, as you cannot order it when you get on board.. spumante yes, but not the package..
Just a little helpful hint..
gg

Hey all!
I am thrilled to be using my new MacBook at my dining room table instead of the old desktop in the office downstairs!:cool1: Got 10% off everything I bought at the Apple store because DH is faculty at a University... and I bought while in Oregon... NO sales tax!:thumbsup2
Now I will just strive to pay off the Visa before the cruise and WDW trip...

vabchmom456- :welcome: I will add you to page 1! I know you will find things to do aboard when DS11 wants to hang at Ocean Quest. There are tours of the galley and the bridge, wine, beer, and martini tastings, and of course, just hangin' by the Quiet Cove Pool!

Lucinda-
When we were on a 7nighter back in 2005 they had matinees of some of the big shows, our kids were 4 & 8 at the time. It took the pressure off the evening to be able to see the show in the afternoon (sea days... I am guessing). Not sure if they still do this, but if so... GO!:goodvibes

Also, we haven't done the Rasul at the spa, but have booked it this time.
There has been lots of discussion on the boards about it, worth looking up and seeing if you think it is a good use of your time and $. I was going to post a link to some discussions, but the search feature on this forum is not very good... Maybe someone else will have luck...

Andrea-- NICE spreadsheets. I have a piece of rolled up paper sectioned into days with notes on each day. Not high tech. :upsidedow
BTW, my DD is 11... actually 12 on Dec 31st, not 1...thankfully!!
Also, my DD is definitely wanting to make friends before boarding. She is a bit mature for her age, but very friendly and adaptable. She's happy taking her brother (7 yrs old) to the theater, but would also like to know others 10-12 to meet up with at Ocean Quest. PM me and I will pass on her email.princess:

ohhhhh nice thievery! I wondered when the shows were, now I know we are missing Disney Dreams on Palo night, maybe we will feed the kids early, do the early show and then off to nursery/club with them,

I do need some input please! I have Palo at 9pm Thurs, scheduled nursery from 8:30 till they close at Midnight, that should cover it right? It will be the first time DH will be on a "date" in four years!
That will be plenty of time and USE IT ALL! We left our pager turned off in DH's jacket pocket and our kids survived!
btw there is chat on the spreadsheets lol I was talking to you andrea but I think you didnt see it lol
I saw the chat but right after I posted I hit the pillows-I can't believe how sick I am, I haven't been this sick in at least 10 years! Poor DH had great plans for our 12th anniversary Sunday and I laid in bed semi-comatose the whole day! He had to cancel the sitter & everything.
Next question all, can you just call the nursery and see if they have time available? I didnt schedule any other times for her because I just dont know what else we are doing, but was thinking about if Katie likes her club and me and Case have a chance at some adult time, it would be nice...

Last one- (sorry guys!) has anyone done the Rasul? Neither of us have ever been to a spa, sounds interesting though..opinions?
Yes you can call Flounder's anytime and they are really great about adding as much time as you need (up to 10 hours a day I think?) and Yes we did the Rasul before-that was the only thing DH requested again this time!  If fact, we booked it twice-once for the beginning and once on our last sea day...We don't have four kids for no reason;)
Our son was in Al Asad, Iraq and we wanted to be here when he came home so we canceled.. and he came home earlier than expected.. and no were not complaining (he's home) For you cali-girls he is in San Diego, Ca at miramar, Marine Naval Air Station, he's always been a belly button type of guy :lmao: :rotfl: . Now we are not so worried but he still fly's helicopters...It's what he wants to do...Not a Disney fan..
gg
We camp near Miramar and we've done the bike race there a few times. If he gets lonely or wants a home cooked meal we'd be more than happy to open our home to him! (Not so sure about the belly button thing...I have quite a belly after 4 kids!):rotfl:

gg, Andrea just loves to add her own special little touches to our names!:lmao: She keeps throwing that 2nd L in my name and I keep throwing it out..:rotfl:

Andrea:hug: :thumbsup2
I am under the influence of meds and that is the story I'm sticking with!:rolleyes1 I fixed your name, I will get it right one day Michele, I promise!

WOW! I will add that to the spreadsheet, Congrats!
Are you taking your DD(4), or do they also have age (5) requirement?
We are taking our 3 year old (she turns 4 on the cruise) with Native Way on a snorkel trip. She doesn't swim without a lifevest (although if you ask her she thinks she's a fish? More like a ROCK!:lmao: ) THey told us that she can sit on the boat if she wants, DH and I plan on taking turns with her if we need to, but I think she will be happy floating in the ocean mext to us. She is fearless and very used to the water, but for some reason hasn't quite conquered the concept of swimming on her own!

Lucky, I have a laptop but the kids have turned it into an electronic mess. It is so infected with viruses and the power cord is destroyed so you have to hold it with one hand and type with the other to keep it from powering down. I want a Mac someday...
I will fix DD's age. Once again I claim "under the influence" I really should proofread things!
DD10 (she'll be 11 on FEb 1)would love to talk with your DD-she is a big e-mail and internet fan and she is very social with strangers (worries me sometimes!). I will PM her e-mail to you. We also have the jr DIS'r board that my DD's have been chatting with each other on-maybe we can revive it!

Thank you for info John and Marcy, much appreciated. I am debating the Rasul, I just cant see my DH wanting to "spa it" lol

Congrats on the MacBook Marcy! That is on my wishlist, a lappy!

Charlie- feel free to pm about stingray city, if it would help we could always get you booked on the same tour as ours which is the 9am first tour.

Awww Andrea, I sure hope you feel better! Now you have me thinking of maybe throwing the Rasul in...hmmm..but I do try to avoid certain things cause I DONT WANT 4 kids lol
HAHA at leaving the pager off, we are too anal about the kids to do that..hence the no date in 4 years! It might be because we are the age of ppl who are GRANDPARENTS!!

We were going to do Nativeway also, I just had more of an internet repoire with Mark at Moby I think, they are smaller operation and he has assured me that he is going to make sure my kids had a great time which sold me, plus I felt bad, I think I emailed him a dozen times with questions lol. Also didnt hurt Carrie was free through them! lol

thanks for the Flounders info, the search here sucks rocks, I couldnt find crud with it!

Well, after looking for a website than Andrea tried to link me to for the Rasul and finding alot of info, I just booked it. We are doing it the afternoon of Key West since I hadnt planned on doing much in Key anyway and nothing else was available with nursery available too...eek...curious what Case is going to think! LOL

Hey GG, it's good to see other seasoned travelers on the cruise, LOL. For a while I thought we would be the only grandparents on posts. Are you traveling with other family or friends? Charliebeth

Marcy, if they are still doing this, are the shows the same that they do that evening? I know it is impossible to see and do everything, but sure hate to miss any of the good stuff. Just hard trying to figure what choice's to make.

Does anyone like to listen to music or dance? Any info on this type of entertainmen? We enjoy all types of music and dance, but favorite is Country Western :dance3: Charliebeth

Here is a link to the most recent Navigator's I can find. It is a day to day activity schedule of what happens on the Magic. Obviously things change from trip to trip but it will give you a good idea what is going on and what to look for in your navigator when you get on board!

Welcome vabchmom456,

I am from UK, 45 yo Mum to DS 10. My hubby has to stay home and work while we are on the cruise, so I suppose I am single in a way!!

I always find loads to do on all the cruises I have been on. I nearly always travel without hubby, as he doesn't enjoy vacations :confused3

I try and join in things, if I can and usually make friends.

DS has always enjoyed the Kids Club on each cruise, and spent a lot of time in there. PM me if your son wants to email my son before the cruise. Take care Debz xx

Charlie I am taking my 4 yr old and my 2 yr old DD. I talked to the captain via email a few times and am confident in that it is safe. www.mobydicktours.com is who we are using

Hi Lucinda, I am checking into this tour. Hopefully it will be one that we can take. Sounds wonderful and the younger ones can go with us. My DD's friend and her family might get to join us on the cruise. They have 4 children, Girls 4 & 10, boys 7 & 12. Will know for sure in the next few weeks. Charliebeth

Andrea, sorry to hear you have been sick. Hope you feel better soon. I am checking out Native Way and Moby Dick, seeing if it is something we will be able to do. I sure hope so. Sounds like a lot of fun. My DH is a diver, but he said he will probably not dive this trip. Charliebeth

That would be really cool! I think Mark said they usually have around 20 people or so on each excursion and that there was plenty of room on the the day of ours. If you email Mark he always emails back within 24 hours, or at least that is what my experience has been. Now Nativeways that Andrea is taking has a great reputation too!

We actually "used" to go dancing, more just the "belly rubbers" as he calls them ( showing our ages again lol) We actually have a couple of days planned on doing the whole club/dance thing as long as the kids cooperate and reserved the nursery for Monday evening at sea and thursday after Palo till midnight just so we could.

LOL, out here in the West we call it Belt Buckle Polishing.

I did send an email to Mark. Waiting to hear back, also left a voice mail message. Also left message with Nativeways.
