Hi Everyone,
I re-read the entire thread over the past few nights and realized that I just sort of jumped in without properly introducing myself this week. I thought I had done that several months ago but I didn't see it anywhere. We are looking forward to meeting all of you very soon.
I spent several months recuperating from a nasty illness that is prominent in the desert called Valley Fever and I swear it sucked out most of my brain for a time. I'm lucid again so let me introduce us properly:
My DH, Bill and I (Beth) are grandparents who will be cruising without the rest of the clan followed by a week in WDW. We lived in FL when WDW opened, have visited more than 40 times and have been DVC members since 1995 at OKW and BW. I think we've cruised
DCL at least 6 or 7 times. I'm a former castmember - 1999, College Program, Animal Kingdom custodial and Entertainment Internship, Studios, Entertainment Management. I earned a Ducktorate degree. My DH is in the environmental field and I now am the managing director of a small community theatre in Tucson.
Don't let that grandparent title fool you. We like to party with the best of them and intend to be in the disco nightly. (We're growin' older but not up! - Jimmy Buffet) I love to dance and get silly. On previous cruises, I made little blue ribbons (think the color of the sea and the idea of the ribbons for AIDS or Breast Cancer support) for everyone to wear as they wandered the ship each day or night, so that we could identify each other when we're out and about. I would be happy to do that again if anyone is interested.
I'm thinking a bit about the theme, too, and wondering if we can come up with a theme out of some words that pop up in our heads. Some that I keep getting are -- holiday; cruisin', magical, mission, voyage. I know everyone's working on it but sometimes, when I'm trying to be creative, I just have to start with words and not phrases and eventually something happens. And didn't Jiminy sing, "When you wish upon a star?" and isn't that the horn sound of the Magic and Wonder? And not to be too religious (not the intent) but the holiday time reflects on a star and sailors always look for the North Star. So if we think on that basis, we might think of something like, "We wished upon a star and here we are!"
I still like the words above that I kept hearing in my head but the song took me to another place. Who else has some ideas...
