December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

I just knocked off $18 on our Southwest flights for this trip. They had lower fares up today, so I was able to adjust to the lower fare. Granted, I have a credit for a future flight, not $ in my pocket, but... And, granted it's only $18 and there are only 2 of us. Again, if you are a larger family it would be more significant. Still, I'd rather have $36 toward my next flight than in their pocket!

Thanks for sharing....going to check it out now! :surfweb:

AirTran Airways had round trip non stop flights for 99 dollars per person each way from St Louis to Orlando.
Wow $860.80 for 4 people plus 15 dollars per 50 lb checked bag and of course a free carry on. I am flying in the night before instead of driving.

This is good! :cool1:

Hi Everyone,

I re-read the entire thread over the past few nights and realized that I just sort of jumped in without properly introducing myself this week. I thought I had done that several months ago but I didn't see it anywhere. We are looking forward to meeting all of you very soon.

I spent several months recuperating from a nasty illness that is prominent in the desert called Valley Fever and I swear it sucked out most of my brain for a time. I'm lucid again so let me introduce us properly:

My DH, Bill and I (Beth) are grandparents who will be cruising without the rest of the clan followed by a week in WDW. We lived in FL when WDW opened, have visited more than 40 times and have been DVC members since 1995 at OKW and BW. I think we've cruised DCL at least 6 or 7 times. I'm a former castmember - 1999, College Program, Animal Kingdom custodial and Entertainment Internship, Studios, Entertainment Management. I earned a Ducktorate degree. My DH is in the environmental field and I now am the managing director of a small community theatre in Tucson.

Don't let that grandparent title fool you. We like to party with the best of them and intend to be in the disco nightly. (We're growin' older but not up! - Jimmy Buffet) I love to dance and get silly. On previous cruises, I made little blue ribbons (think the color of the sea and the idea of the ribbons for AIDS or Breast Cancer support) for everyone to wear as they wandered the ship each day or night, so that we could identify each other when we're out and about. I would be happy to do that again if anyone is interested.

I'm thinking a bit about the theme, too, and wondering if we can come up with a theme out of some words that pop up in our heads. Some that I keep getting are -- holiday; cruisin', magical, mission, voyage. I know everyone's working on it but sometimes, when I'm trying to be creative, I just have to start with words and not phrases and eventually something happens. And didn't Jiminy sing, "When you wish upon a star?" and isn't that the horn sound of the Magic and Wonder? And not to be too religious (not the intent) but the holiday time reflects on a star and sailors always look for the North Star. So if we think on that basis, we might think of something like, "We wished upon a star and here we are!" :santa:

I still like the words above that I kept hearing in my head but the song took me to another place. Who else has some ideas... :hyper2:

Welcome Beth! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Personally, I have no excuse for my brain being gone :headache:.

I like your theme. It would be cute with a little Jiminy Cricket holding up his arms in the air.

I like the "Wish Upon A Star" line of thinking its nice!
We are Jimmy Buffet fans to ( both in our 50's) and plan on visiting all 3 Margueritaville's for the fun of it.

Thanks! Maybe his umbrella could have a little piece of holly dangling from it.

Maybe we should buddy up for a Magical Margueritaville tour -- just to make sure we all get back to the ship...

I love the Jiminy in the tub. It would be fun if there was a tiny little Santa suit next to him -- or colorful mini lights draped around his acorn tub!

Or the Mickey Santa hat with Jiminy sitting on it!

Or the Magic ship graphic with Jiminy sitting somewhere prominently with his umbrella pointing to a star.

This cruise can't come fast enough for me!

Hi ya'll,

I ran across this on another thread. It had never really crossed my mind that there might be someone doing the FE exchange that has severe food allergies. I always have just assumed that the person receiveing always has the option of tossing whatever is given to them.

However, it was brought up that kids are usually the ones that will be bummed if the gift is something they can't have. For adults, my FE exchange is not food. The kids will be getting some toys, etc along with a few pieces of candy.

I guess I'm throwing the question out there, any severe food allergies?

Wow, hard to believe that we will be making our reservations for the cruise day trips real soon. So excited.

OK, so my daughters Sara (7) and Emily (5) are cool and we would like to meet other youngsters to hang out with them so my wife and I can have some quality time too. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone know how to put photos up? I click on the icon, but they want a www site...

Lastly anyone thinking of going to the 'mini white house' Harry Truman excursion?
