December 10, 2009 3 Night Bahamian Cruise

I ordered some things from JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts to finish my FE gift and the order never came. 10 days and multiple notes after the latest delivery date I get a note saying they were out of stock and my order was canceled. Will never do business with JoAnn again. Panic, re-boot and re-ordered from a different place at a higher cost - hope it comes soon. Just got to find the time to work on them - I work in Boston during the week and am mostly just home on weekends. I'm sure it will work out - I'll work on my tye dyes till the order comes. Just aggravating.

Well that totally sucks! So sorry! I have a few odds and ends for my FE, but still trying to figure out which optin out of a couple things in mind I will actually buy.

On another note, I just had a horrible day...was getting something out of the cupboard and a measuring cup fell onto my glass cookotp and now I need to buy a new one! A huge divot in one element and a monster spiderweb crack across the whole stove. UGH

Not a good day in my house!

i have no idea for my FE! I have a few leftover gifts from teh kids welcome goody bags i can use...mostly girl stuff! Nothing for adults. i'm so lost!

don't be suprised if you find a bag of M&M's in your FE from me! :rotfl2:

m&m's or any type of candy is a good idea for FE. I got a lot of candy on the one cruise we did it on and it was great for the hours we had to wait at the airport:thumbsup2

They are a favorite of my family - we'd love it!

so sorry to hear about your cooktop. Any luck that it's still under warranty?? Hope it all works out for you. Laurie :)

Unfortunately, it's not under warranty, and I don't think they would cover it anyway as it wasn't through normal use.

But, my mom suggested callin our insurance and putting in a claim for it. it is covered and we are shopping for a new one this weekend. This has also evolved into shopping for a new fridge, and potentially a double wall oven. The oven is just more for checking out the options and pricing, but I have a feeling we'll have a new cooktop and fridge ordered by tonight...

We love M&Ms!!

My DH would have turned the cooktop breaking into a "Let's tear down the kitchen, add on to the house and get all new EVERYTHING!!" $70,000 home equity loan project!!!:lmao: Good luck finding what you like!

We were close to doing that! I want new countertops, and a double wall over (only have a single now), and then DH said, well then we might as well reface the cabinets...

BUT - I need a cooktop NOW. So, we went to Sears (gotta love a sale) and got a new cooktop. Oh yeah, AND a new fridge! We have a very old fridge downstairs as an extra and I hate it. So, new fridge for upstairs and move the one from the kitchen to the back room for beverages.

The cooktop I wanted of course wasn't available until the 21st. I can't go that long! So, they gave us the same 25% discount on another make (we were looking at Whirlool and we got a Kenmore) which was still a bit more expensive, but has more resistant glass (which as we now know, I apparently need. :lmao:

A lot more expensive than I was planning on it being (with a new fridge and all) but I am thinking positive. 1. I have 2 new appliances coming (th ecooktop is coming TOMORROW!) and 2. It's more points for the trip to Disney. :cool1:

Gotta love the disney card. We've racked up quite a bit of points recently. I so need to stop so that I will have money left over for Disney

I agree - we will have plenty of points to use (I hope), plus we have been saving money from our tag sale, me selling my stash of Pampered Chef products (I was a consultant for about 4 years and have quite a warehouse of stuff), and selling things on consignment. DH also squirreled away his bonus from the spring and his payout of sick time.

I'd love not to have to charge anything while AT Disney, or at least just pay it off with the cash we have saved if we do use the card instead of carrying lots of cash.

2 months from today! WOO HOO!!

Just a reminder.....the deadline to sign up for the Fish Extender Exchange is Saturday, October 31st!

I am excited to be in the 50s for the countdown!

To add to my spending spree (I am just helping to stimulate the economy!), my wireless router died yesterday. Luckily the replacement was way cheaper than the cooktop. :lmao:

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get one until later today, so instead of working from home as I do on Wednesday and Friday each week, I had to haul myself INTO the office.

On the way home, made a stop at Target and using my 10% off coupon, got a new router and was able to reconnect myself and re-set up the wireless connection for my laptop. Whew!

let's hope nothing else breaks - at least not until the next billing cycle on my credit card!!! :rotfl:

Can't decide what to do here. I've read reviews, but still lost. Minie Meese, Was the public beach okay, just to see. I think we might do the pirate museum and then walk to the public beach, or the See and Sea tour. Any suggestions?:confused3

We didn't do any tours and only spent about 2 hours in Nassau. This worked for us.

We felt very comfortable on the public beach and I love some of the photos I got there. My sister-in-law and her family took a cab to a tourist beach, I think Cabbage Beach and paid for beach chairs and lunch there. They spent the entire day there. Where they went was no where near as expensive as Atlantis.

As for the public beach, I don't think they rake it very often so there was debris around, mostly things that washed up from the water, and not peoples' garbage. We left our shoes. We did enjoy the walk down the beach and stopped at a little cart (they take US dollars) and bought a canned soda before heading back. The people were very nice. There were very few people at the beach (it was a Monday) and those there, were mostly locals. We had one woman stop us and asked us if we wanted hair braiding. We politely said "no thanks" and she walked away.

Before walking the beach we did walk around a few neighborhoods near that beach. One took us to the top of a hill near an art museum. You could see the cruise ships in the distance over the top of the palm trees. It was a great view. We also found a street near the US Embassy that takes you up a very old staircase where I got some great photos. The guard at the embassy said we could not take pictures of the embassy but the street beyond it was public. There are homes along the staircase and at the top is a huge old house that was abandoned. It was very neat to look inside. We like that kind of stuff but I know a lot of people would not find that fun. We didn't go to any of the shops in town but did walk through the straw market and hated it.

This time around most of us will stay on the ship.

Do what sounds interesting to you and if it turns out to be something you don't like, you have a beautiful ship with lots of things to do to return to.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I think we will just play it by ear. We can't let you have the ship to yourselves all day...:goodvibes
