I've been looking at Atlantis and we're probably going to be interested in trying to get a room for the day there. With the toddler, I assume if we booked a room that we'd be able to use it for nap time if needed?? Any advice on booking a room would be welcomed. Also, does anyone know how long we'll be at Nassau?
As of right now, and again, this can change, we are scheduled to be there from 10:30am - 10:00 pm.

Does anyone know how they handle check in times for this? If you book a regular night stay, does the usual hotel check in time of 3p or 4p still apply? I have never checked on this resort so I am not familiar with their check in policy but if that is the case, I can see how that may not be very useful for us only being there for the day.

So glad to see how UPBEAT the regular posters are on this thread. There are some mightly upset people on our cruise that are posting on the general thread about our change in itinerary. I'm afraid they are going to make themselves (and others around them) miserable.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing some DISers going down that slide. Won't be me!!! Not now (certainly) and not in my younger, thinner days.

Don't know yet if we'll spring for the room at Atlantis. We usually like the nice, cheap beach days in the ports. We'll see ... plenty of time to decide ... HA HA HA HA HA :rotfl2: :hyper2: :crazy2: :tilt:

we are a nice bunch of people

Don't make me get on that plane...... :goodvibes

Aside from the many hours I lose when I visit these boards, that is just another reason I don't visit the main boards right now.... I just check in on ours. We have all been pretty good about keeping everyone informed. It isn't like Disney can control the weather. I mean really.... what were they supposed to do? Take us to Cozumel anyway? From what I have heard, it takes months following a hurricane (not even one as bad as Wilma) for the beaches/sand (and I don't mean just the part outside of the water) to get back into shape. It takes months even years for that to get back into shape. Man can only do so much then mother nature needs to do the rest. Yes, it is an inconvenience but that is the risk you take when you book right outside of hurricane season. It was a pain in the butt but things could be much worse... we could LIVE there!!! :rolleyes1 So, Diane, don't worry... you are with a pretty good group of people. :grouphug: We are just happy to be able to be in a place in our life where we can go on a vacation and be happy enough to enjoy it and be grateful for the opportunity. :wizard:

Well said!

Jeanna....aren't you talking to me on IM Chat...get back there...

Thank you! Pardon me while I duck for a moment as I may not be well recieved for what I am about to say :duck: ..... It is just sad that people are wanting compensation for something that Disney can't really control. I know we think Disney rules the universe, but there are some things that they can't use their clout to control. The weather is one of them. I know we all want what we signed on for. I am included in that group. But, there is this little teeny tiny thing called life. It throws you curves. If you are on your way to work and there is a major accident and you have no where to go, do you ask the people in the car in front of you to compensate your for your lost time because they don't get out of your way? No. Does it help to complain about it? No. Ok, I know that isn't the best analogy but it is late, ya know! The point is, you do the best you can with what you have. I am trying to teach my children that sometimes things don't go your way. You have to realize that some things are out of everyone's control. Try to be reasonable and have a little understanding. When you do, you just may be surprised at what comes your way. You just might find that the alternate turned out to be better than what you were hoping for in the beginning. So, we will not be staying on the ship that day in protest to the port change (who does this benefit anyway??). We will be living it up with family and friends that we love dearly. THAT is what is most important.

((now stepping off soapbox.....)) And just to cover me... that is JMHO. :grouphug:

I've obviously missed the other postings about folks boycotting the port and wanting compensation!!! I know some of you said you were no longer reading those threads.... I'm glutting for punishment... I've got to go see what the fuss is about.
Welcome to our new cruisers... at least new to our site... looks like Tinkerbell has been on several cruises before and knows Disney. This is our second Disney Cruise. Have always done the 7 days- can't imagine doing anything shorter. So much to do and so much relaxing needs to happen. :cool1: :flower: :paw:

Hello again everyone,

I found a price of $115 a night for Atlantis on Expedia for the night ( Thurs, Dec 8) we'll be in Nassau. It's the Beach Tower,, which I believe is the oldest part of the resort, but it's a good prioce if you're considering the beach and pools and everything else that comes with being a guest.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Bill

Kris - I saw your post on that OTHER thread. EXCELLENT!!! It's funny - no matter what port they picked someone would be upset. Personally I don't like Jamaica or Cancun, but I wouldn't have whined like that. (Well, maybe a little ;) but not out loud).

My friend just got back from her Western Cruise on Carnival yesteray. She didn't know the substitute for Cozumel until they boarded. They went to Costa Maya and it wasn't great. The one beach club that a lot of excursions use was closed and the beach they went to was very rocky.
