December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

Jeanna, I for one must point out how proud I am of you for accepting this change so well since it goes completely against for OCD nature! :goodvibes

Although the original itinerary and/or diversion to Costa Maya would have been nice I know that next year's double dip is now less than a year away and we hopefully will have the opportunity to see the sights then. We'll give them the year to rebuild and see where we stand! I agree with Jeanna....a vacation to go look at the destruction of people's lives just doesn't seem right. Maybe she and I are alot more like than we think!

Jeff's daughter is here this weekend and since she knows nothing about this trip it's kind of quiet here. Once she leaves tonight then it's all out packing and final prep mode.

Let's keep each other up to date on excursion bookings for Nassau. It would be fabulous if we are able to book online ahead of boarding...but if not...we'll survive! After all....it is Disney! :cheer2:

Hi everyone - I missed checking the boards yesterday and WOW ... lots going on.

Itinerary Change - DARN, I was hoping for St Thomas in place of Cozumel. It's my favorite island :lovestruc (I spent the 10 days after Thanksgiving there for many years). But I guess deep down I knew they weren't going to mix Eastern and Western ports. We don't really care where we go - if we don't like the port we just get back on the ship and enjoy the view of the island from the empty decks.

Nassau - we've been a few times. The last time probably 6 years ago (before Matt). We took a taxi to Paradise Island, walked through the Atlantis and hung out on the beach. We didn't stay long. It was a nice beach, some of the family went parasailing, we had a couple of island drinks and went back to the ship. Beach was nice but I remember it being crowded - but we were right in front of the hotel. We didn't rent chairs because we didnt' expect to stay long.

I have to do some investigation. Does anyone know how to rent a room at the Atlantis. I've heard it is as low as $99. Then you can use their facilities. They had a lazy river (with tubes). I think you used it free if you stayed there. Has anyone done this recently?

Diane :fish:

Matt got his postcard too, but I was the one who was excited and jumping up and down - not Matt. My DH thought I sent it - said it looked like my handwriting. I kept trying to tell him that this year I had nothing to do with it!! (I forgot to arrange for a postcard this year).

MajorWoody - sorry for trying to give you a new partner!!!

Diane :fish:

Changing MajorWoody’s traveling partner (OOPS .. sorry) and removed the Cozumel excursions. Let me know what other updates your need.

HI Guys.... Just wanted to let ya know that we booked 2 rooms at Atlantis for our day there. They were $147 each for 4 people(5 if one is 4 or younger) this alllows you to use the lazy river, many water slides, 11 pools, snorkel in the lagoon, use the beach, see the Dig(aquarium)....everything!!
I have done the Disney excursion 5 yrs ago just to walk thru the Dig, it was over $100 for the 4 of us. If we have to go to Nassau I want to spend my day here. There is a great website Atlantis.com that has a ton of info. You can also book at the comfort suites next door and still use all Atlantis pools etc.., but their rooms were $137 before tax I think. If you call tell them room only no transfers, trip ins. Taxi fare I was told is around $7.00. Hope this helps ya, let me know if anyone is going maybe we can float around the river together :sunny:

What RATE did you use...?
they are quoting me much more...over $300

When you call Atlantis(1-800- atlantis) the price that is given is over $300. I told them it was room only and that we were on Disney cruise, but its not a day rate. They only release day rate the morning of if they have enough empty room's. The ressie guy told me they are usually around $125. The $300 includes ins, transfers etc.. They will let you check-in early and hold bags if you want them to and give you your braclet to use pools lagoon. We thought maybe taking a bag of clothes to get changed before heading back to the ship. They have a hospitatily room area that has showers and changing area. Hope this helps :)

Does anyone know when the straw market closes?

Susie

Thanks Susie.....
found slightly cheaper on Hotel.com....
2 adults 2 kids under 12
Length of stay: 1 night
Number of rooms: 1 room
Daily average: $115.00
Subtotal: $115.00
Tax recovery charges and service fees: $24.62
Total: $139.62

edited to add that to put another adult in the room would be $45 each.

Jeanna states the Disney excursion is not a bad deal either....includes lunch....might check that...I wouldn't do the slides anyway.... :rotfl: (when u meet me you will know why I am laughing!

I have just been to your website and saw the pic of you and Tom, I don't see the problem in rushing 60 miles an hour down the water slides :) Actually my Mom and MIL are going with us and will probably spend most of their time in the lazy river or the therapy pool thing they show in the photo gallery. Myself and DD, along with our friends Becky, Steve and Addie(4yr old) will be riding the slides :earseek: They say the bigger you are the harder you fall, I guess or the faster you slide!!! I'm gonna beat them all down

Hhahahhahahahhaahhahaha

We may have to do Atlantis just to watch the fun slides. Anyone doing anything else here. Never been to Nassau so not sure what to expect. :flower:

Just wanted to chime in that we got our documents on Friday. Whoo hoo!

Glad I checked in, because I didn't know about the Nassau decision. Now I need to see how that impacts all my other plans. I had everything planned down to the hour, you know (yeah, right! with a 2 year old, I'll be luckly to make it to breakfast each day!)

Congratulations Jeanna, my OCD princess, you are taking this so well! :teeth: :love2:

Pat, lets book a day room at Atlantis! Sounds like a great place to spend the day.......beach, pools, dinner, casino. What else do we need? We can spend the day at the beach, have a shower, eat dinner and play some slots. I'm searching my sofa for lost quarters as soon as I finish posting this.

Apparently one of the slides at Atlantis is a clear tube that runs through the shark lagoon. :earseek: We told Sarah about it, now she is shaking in her boots, LOL, she loves sharks about as much as spiders. :rotfl2:

mom stop that i don't like sharks or spiders. jeanna can get u

So glad to see how UPBEAT the regular posters are on this thread. There are some mightly upset people on our cruise that are posting on the general thread about our change in itinerary. I'm afraid they are going to make themselves (and others around them) miserable.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing some DISers going down that slide. Won't be me!!! Not now (certainly) and not in my younger, thinner days.

Don't know yet if we'll spring for the room at Atlantis. We usually like the nice, cheap beach days in the ports. We'll see ... plenty of time to decide ... HA HA HA HA HA :rotfl2: :hyper2: :crazy2: :tilt:

OMG......
Penn and Teller are at the Atlantis RIGHT Now!!!

on NBC until 9 eastern....LOL

I've been looking at Atlantis and we're probably going to be interested in trying to get a room for the day there. With the toddler, I assume if we booked a room that we'd be able to use it for nap time if needed?? Any advice on booking a room would be welcomed. Also, does anyone know how long we'll be at Nassau?

One plus side to the change to Nassau. My mother has been bumming that there was no Casinos on board, and we haven't found any at the other ports. The casino at Nassau sounds right up her alley, but now I'm sure she's going to wonder what the change in dates is going to do to the bingo jackpot schedule!!

Aside from the many hours I lose when I visit these boards, that is just another reason I don't visit the main boards right now.... I just check in on ours. We have all been pretty good about keeping everyone informed. It isn't like Disney can control the weather. I mean really.... what were they supposed to do? Take us to Cozumel anyway? From what I have heard, it takes months following a hurricane (not even one as bad as Wilma) for the beaches/sand (and I don't mean just the part outside of the water) to get back into shape. It takes months even years for that to get back into shape. Man can only do so much then mother nature needs to do the rest. Yes, it is an inconvenience but that is the risk you take when you book right outside of hurricane season. It was a pain in the butt but things could be much worse... we could LIVE there!!! :rolleyes1 So, Diane, don't worry... you are with a pretty good group of people. :grouphug: We are just happy to be able to be in a place in our life where we can go on a vacation and be happy enough to enjoy it and be grateful for the opportunity. :wizard:
