Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

so I am packing them both ... unless dh convinces me otherwise.:lmao:

I do have to pack them a short sleeve sundress later today for the semi formal night.

I got the dkids to try on sandals, surfwalkers and sneakers last night. :rotfl: They youngest found a pair of sneakers that fit now! :cool1: The oldest found a pair of surfwalkers/sandals that are: "AWESOME MOM, YOU'RE the BEST".

DH found a box of shoes that I got C H E A P at Lands End in the storage room. I usually buy the next size up in those shoes if there is a GREAT sale on shoes to bump up my order to get free shipping .... although I have been getting FREE SHIPPING codes weekly now.

They may have an idea about the cruise but don't want to spoil the surprise for dh & I.

Dh is NOW getting excited about 4 Dec. It's only 9 days :woohoo:

I have to finish up stuff for Thanksgiving 1st then I can finish packing next Tues. when the kids are at school.

I am resorting to a notebook as my TO DO list. This IS the only way to keep my mind from :crazy2:

Have a great day everyone!

IF you are driving today, remember your driving manners & PRAY before you leave your driveway

hi,
the scan is done, I don't know the results yet, but we are going on vacation no matter what. good or bad news. and thanks so much to all of you with the well wishes and prayers. you are all so nice. I appreciate it.

and see you real soon!

Hello, I only booked a little over a month ago but am WAY excited to be going on this cruise.

I have booked the Peter Island kayak excursion in Tortola, but most likely will be going it alone. Anyone else planning on this excursion?

Hi and welcome. We are that family of four Barry (AKA Tower) refered to who are also taking the kayak excusrion. It is awfully early in the day--but we'll cope. I think it sounds lovely. It will actually be only the second time we have booked a DCL excursion (we normally do our own thing). It looks so nice and the price does not feel too high to me--I hope I am right.
Do please intorduce yourself, and let me know your info for rollcall. It is too late to get a lanyard, but we will get you nametages for your party which match all the other DISsers if you get the info to me today or tomorrow.
I need:
DISname
First names of all in party and ages of kids
early or late dining

I hope you have a chance to read through some of the posts and get to know us all a bit better. Many of us leave for a precruise WDW trip here in the next few days (my family leaves early Saturday morning--which will still be Friday night in the Western hemisphere) so the number of posts should dwindle after that point
.
Maybe IrishCowboy is a undercover moderator or one of the Disney employees we hear about who surf the sites. ;)
Interesting to see everyone's theories. I guess we'll never know--but I find it fun to specualte.

I remember reading on the DIS that people pack their FE gifts in carryon, but I don't remember why. Was it for those who had food in them, or all FE gifts? Trying to figure out if it's necessary. I'd rather pack all of our cruise stuff into checked luggage that we just store while at the World.

Also, can we have candy in our flight carry-ons anymore? I know liquids are out, but I can't remember if food in general is out until you go through security.

Thanks for the help!

I pack my FE gifts in the luggage. I am not fond of hauling around extra weight that I did not pick up at the buffets:lmao:
You should be fine to bring candies in carry ons. Liquids are out but not food--but liquid liek foods (yogurt, puddding, etc.) are out as well. My DMiL always packs herself a lunch to fly and must have forgotten and included a yogurt about a half dozen times:lmao:

In honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow I made pumpkin pies last night (after begging a friend of a friend to buy me some canned pumpkin on base--it is flat out not available here otehrwise). One is for the kdis and i (we LOVE pumpkin pie) and the otehr I took to my German class today. It was a big hit--as were my rather comical attempts to explain Thanksgiving and Black Friday:upsidedow

I am glad you are comming no matter what:goodvibes I am looking forward to meeting you. I sincerely hope you will be celebrating good news while cruising with us.

I will check them out for the t-shirts for the next cruise :rotfl:
I am CONVINCED that dh is booking one onboard.
AND he might even buy DVC ;) time will tell

You'll love DVC. Our only disappointment is that we did buy in sooner! If you need a referral let me know!

Agreed! We started with 150 points 4 years ago and now we're up to 655. I keep saying that's it, we're not buying any more...
Addonitis is really hard to get rid of though! :rotfl:

I should have bought DVC back in 2000 when I first heard about it but I had a mental block agains timeshares.

I am having a fit here... I must have all of these:yay: I know that sounds horrble but they can be my annivesary, BD, Mother's Day and anything else I get a present for next year present! LOL

Hey! Don't tell us! Tell the DH! Maybe Santa can help you out with his Christmas magic.:santa::wizard:

You've definitely come to the right place for prayers, well wishes, and a little pixie dust, too. Waiting for news on tests like that is so nerve wracking. Good luck for getting good news!

Apparently because of weather problems pumpkin is in short supply at the moment. On Good Morning America Emiral had a sweetpotato pecan pie.

Sweet potato taste very similar. It's a great subsititute for pumpkin.

Have a happy turkey day!

Hi everybody--I am so excited. I hustled the kids into bed early with the excuse that we need to be ahead on sleep to counter act the jet lag and called the Perfect Gift right away. They were still open:cheer2: Melody was SOOOOOO nice. I am getting one of the Mickey and Minnie totes that are pictured on the website filled with sand toys and such but she is totally customizing it for us. There will be Riesling for David, a couple of "surprise" magazines for me, root beer for Marika, Cream soda for Rio and a variety of treats we cannot get to eat here plus maybe Sodukos, frisbee, etc. I can't wait to see what all she does:woohoo:

Thanks:goodvibes We actually make both sweet potatoes and pumpkin--we love our orange veggies:cutie: Sweet potatoes can be found here--but even that is difficult. We are missing pumpkin muffins--I forgot we used to have arecipe for sweet potato muffins, I will have to try that again.

Well, one thing as a consolation, the restaurants will likely have pumpkin pie throughout the weekend at the resort, if not there, DTD.

Has anyone been able to stay behind on a DCL excursion? We are doing the Coral World excursion on St. Thomas and have heard about Coki beach that is right at Coral World. I was wondering if we could stay at Coral World longer and possibly spend some time at the beach or if we stay booked with DCL we have to return to the ship with them.

Thanks!

Can't believe the cruise is so close! I have tons to do when we get back home from Thanksgiving!!

I'm booked along with my wife for that one! She may drop out however depending upon the needs of the kids at that time. There is one other family of 4 also participating.
I've wanted to see Peter Island for a little over 10 years now, so I'm looking forward to it too.:cool1:
Let us know more about you cruiseyaca. Where are you from? How many are you travelling with?
There are many fantastic people on this board. Stick around and get to know some of us so that we're not all strangers, but friends already:)

There are 6 of us total. My family of 4, myself, the hubby and daughter 5, and son 3. The hubby and I have been on Disney a couple times in the past and my daughter once. This will be my son's first time and our first time using the children's area. We are going with a friend and her daughter 5, they are both first timers on the Disney Cruise. We all live in Florida near WDW.

I'll looking forward to getting to know everyone and can't believe it is almost here!!! :cool1:

I am in complete and total freak out mode now. Martinair changed their baggae policy. It was that anything not in continantal Europe got two bags per person when we booked (we booked before they had actually started trips to the USA last month). NOW it is anything other than continental Europe and the uSA gets to bags but USA only gets one! Thankfully we only have 5 between us but I really do not know how I can possibly get it down to four! AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! Worse, we have a lot of things at my friend's house in the USA we were planning on bringing back with us:sad1: We will HAVE to pay for an extra bag to come home but I really do not want to pay for an extra going (and then 2 extra comming).

Back home and about to start repacking but first I want to wish the American sailors:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
