Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Can someone participating in the FE please confirm we have 15 cabins total? I printed out what I believe is the final list from I received by PM and have gone over it checking everyone off. I just want to be 100% sure I don't forget anyone.
She's Making a List, Checking it Twice:lmao:

Like I already stated, last year I had to cancel a week prior, and now tomorrow I have a bone scan, so please pray with me that
all will be okay and we can still go on vacation. I may not want to come home though.
Hope all goes well. We'll be happy to pray for you.:)

Put my Christmas lights on the house last weekend, did our outdoor tree yesterday and this weekend I'll put up the nativity set on the front porch and light them up!:dance3:
I love this time of year!

do some decorating B4 we leave.

I mean we have Sat. to get it done B4 we leave. :confused3

Not sure why he can't help:
1. get the tree out & put it together
2. decorate that tree with the 4 bins of ornaments
3. put up all our Advent/countdown stuff
4. decorate the hearth with all the bears ~ maybe the kids can do this
5. put the batteries in the singing snowmen ~ I think it's only 2 rubbermaid bins worth of signing snowmen ... come on
6. Oh, and I forget we have to declutter to EVEN be able to decorate
7. and THEN put all THE 10+ BINS back in the basement before we have our Advent party the next day?

I mean, am I asking TOO much ???:rotfl:

Maybe I can convince dh to bring the tree up tonight then the kids can start decorating every day after school.

Hey, this could be a good thing ... they can declutter the hearth, dust it & the fireplace mantle THEN they can decorate to their hearts content with the bears.:woohoo:

DH put all the lights on the house yesterday and some of them on the bushes. A few need repairs due to bunny munching last year. We won't put up the blow up scene with music until we get back, or the rest of the light up figures for the yard. They are higher maintenance items if it is windy or snowy and with us being gone for 12 days, we won't have anyone to watch the decorations while we are away. The house lights are on a timer though so those will work whether we are here or not.

I love the lights of Christmas!

I am ready to pack! clothes are washed and folded. do you guys roll clothes or fold clothes in the suitcases? I've heard rolling keeps them less wrinkled.
any thoughts?

and anyone going to the rockin bar d nights? those sound fun. and the weather report looks really good!

My brother and his wife took his 3 youngest to MK in August of 2008. They do an annual trip before school starts to do Back To School shopping in PA and spend a couple of other days just family travelling. When they had finished shopping for the day, they piled the kids into the van, turned on the DVD player and drove south. Spent a couple of nights at motels and did not tell the kids a thing. At that time, a hurricane had forced the attractions to take down their signs to avoid damage. While they drove through FL, the kids had no idea what state they were in so they zoned in on their movies. When they finally got close to DW, my brother pointed out a smaller sign at the side of the highway indicating their proximity to MK. The kids were floored and they had a great time!

We're praying for you too!! Hope to hear great news after your bone scan!

We got a little Christmas tree out yesterday to test the interest level of my youngest daughter ... if she can manage to leave it alone, we'll get the big tree out this weekend ... if not, this year we will be celebrating with a Charlie Brown type Christmas tree! :)

That's what I have. I finished up with my gifts yesterday. I totally didn't know what to get certain groups so I hope I did okay!

I left tags on everything I bought because Keegan has grown almost 4 inches now since July and I may have to exchange his suit and pants if he's outgrown them.

Sounds like Haley. She hasn't grown as much as Keegan, but she has sprouted up about 3 inches since June. I bought her some stuff at the beginning of the year but it no longer fits her. The dress I bought her for formal night isn't going to work because now it's so short. I had to run out and find her one this weekend. Wasn't what I was looking for but it will do. However, I can't return the first dress I bought as it's been too long. I learned my lesson that I can no longer shop in advance for her. She needs the length of junior clothing but the width of girls clothing as she is tall and thin (5 feet tall and about 73 pounds)

I'm doing laundry today and will work on packing when done. I heard the same thing about rolling clothes. I'm going to give it a try!

We are not decorating at all this year. We're leaving on Nov 30 and won't be home until until Dec 18. Then, we are leaving again on Dec 22 and won't be home until after Christmas. Plus, with DH working 80 hours a week right now, I can't ask him for help with lights on the house or getting the stuff down for me. I would ask him to get the stuff down for me if we were going to be home but I can't justify it when we are just going to be home a few days when none of those days are Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Good luck! When Cameron was 21 months old, he pulled over the tree. Thankfully, it didn't land on him. I had explained to him how he shouldn't touch it and to stay away. I was an arm lengths away from him and couldn't stop it! Then, just a few days after Christmas that year, he pulled a little glass ornament off of a small tree we had by the fireplace. He bit into it! It shattered in his mouth and I couldn't tell if he had swallowed any of the glass. I took him to the ER so they could xray him to find out! And he didn't but it gave me piece of mind! I felt like such a bad mother that year.

With our kids, we didn't want to take that chance, so we've always tied off the tree to the side of the trim around the living room window. The string we use matches the garland so no one really notices it. With all the climbing around the tree for the presents on Christmas Day, we figured it was a prudent thing to do.

Okay- has anyone checked current water temps or know of a good site to do so??? Don't want to be freezing as I'm trying swim with the dolphins:rotfl:

Don't really know if this will help..:confused3...I've got St. Thomas weather on my Briwser home page. The forcast for our week is for highs in the 88 degree range --lows of 74-76. water tmep should stiil be great on the islands. Castaway could be cooler beings more northerly;)

Thanksgiving in Charlotte-Amalie is supposed to be 91:cool1:

Here is what someone posted as having been the schedule last week at Rockin' Bar D. I thought some of you may be interested in seeing it:

Saturday night - Match your mate game show
Sunday night was Disco Legends.
Monday- Golden Mickey's after party
Tuesday- Livin' Large Party
Wednesday - crazy karaoke
Thursday - Rock'n'Country
Friday - Pub Night

Thanks Hadley! Count me in on the Rock'n'Country on Thursday following Palo! (Just need to convince DW to come along to the Ho-Down!

Bet Cru-Ellen will come along if they play Kenny Chesney.

I am so glad he was ok! Aren't toddlers just a bundle of fun!! All the more reason for us to not press our luck with her this year.

Hi,

I haven't checked in for just a few days and it's loaded with promotions, cute pictures, new friends and excitement for our cruise.

I don't have a picture to post, but we are a mid-age (I never think of us like that) :)
but my husband is mostly gray but still extremely handsome and I am a tallish wavy haired wife who will be smiling ear to ear if I reallyget to get on the ship and go on vacation. Like I already stated, last year I had to cancel a week prior, and now tomorrow I have a bone scan, so please pray with me that

We're praying for great results on the bonescan! I'm not sure if we are going to start Christmas decorating before we leave or not. We're at the beach with DH's family this week, getting home the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we'll start our drive to FL on Thursday. I'm still working on FE gifts (or was before we left) and I still need to do a bit and bag things up. And packing is pretty well not started.

Let us know how the scan goes....

Hi!

I will be printing nametags after Thanksgiving so if you are planning on adding your name to the roll call please do it by the weekend so I only have to do one run of printing. PM NHDisneylover or post your info here so we can put you on the list. To see the list go here: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33415383&postcount=598

We're out of lanyards to put them in, but you should be able to find one at an office supply place (or if you are like us, have some from conferences, etc).

Fluvanna

Can't wait to be cruisin'!!

We are also praying for you and are truly hoping you make the cruise!!! I am glad to hear I am not the only one still working on FEs and not packed!! My biggest problem has been the boys outgrowing all of their summer clothes! I will be buying shorts in the first Walmart I see in Florida!

The grocery store (Giant Eagle) we shop at sells gift cards and is running a double fuel perks (20 cents off each gallon of gas) special when you buy gift cards in 50 dollars increments. Well apparently they now sell Disney gift cards that can be used on the ship. In the end we are going to save around 84 dollars in gas with our fuel perks. For us thats just over two tanks. If you live in Western PA, Eastern OH or WV you may want to stop in at Giant Eagle. I think they may also have stores in Maryland too but I'm not sure.

Thanks! Rosemary
