Michael/Marc,
One of you guys mentioned about shipping all your Secret Santa stuff to PC. I might think about doing this as well since the four of us will have quite a bit of stuff. Can you guys help me out with some info?
Where do I send the package, how do I address it, and what happens once the package arrives?
Thanks!
Joy
Hi, Joy!
Yes, we've shipped our packages the last two cruises. The pirate costumes were just too much for packing in suitcases. We used UPS and sent them about 10 days prior to sailing so that they would arrive just a few days before sailing. We used regular ground delivery (this is from the west coast).
The address that we used is a warehouse run by a company called I.D.S. (I believe that's correct, though it reminds me of the building in downtown Minneapolis).
What you're supposed to do is have a small inventory list on the outside of the package so the warehouse knows what's inside. They are very specific in saying that alcohol / wine is not to be shipped, however I do know some folks have done that and haven't had an issue. Personally, after our first experience of hauling a few bottles of wine in our carry-ons (pre-TSA rules against that), which totally screwed up Marc's back, for the first cruise, we'll deal with having the ship's wine cellar at our disposal for the cruise.
This is the address for your mailing label
IDS
9001 MARLIN ST.
CAPE CANAVERAL FL 32920-3307
In the lower-left corner put the following:
HOUSEKEEPING
STATEROOM # XXXX (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
PASSENGER NAME: (name of passenger on reservation)
VESSEL: WONDER or MAGIC
DATE of SAIL:
NUMBER of BOXES: 1 of 1, 3 of 4 or whatever
Pkg must arrive by 5:00 PM on Fri. for Sat and Sun sailings
Pkg must arrive by 11:00 AM on Thursday for Thursday sailings
Both times we sent our packages they were in the cabin before we were able to check in!
Also, if you need to ship things home after, don't destroy the boxes when you unpack them. Fold them flat and stuff them under the bed! Bring a small roll of tape and a marker with you (possibly an extra one in the box that you're sending) and it makes packing the last night a breeze! They go outside your cabin door on the last night as well and they're waiting for you in the pick up area! We've brought ours to the resort and had the business center ship them back for us. If you're not going to a resort, I believe there's a Kinko's/FedEx nearby that you could also use!
Hoping that helps!
Michael
