I called to make reservations w/ a AAA discount & I was really surprised when the reservations person told me that they were already booked for Dec. 20 & Dec. 19. I guess I didn't think they would book up that deep into December (b/c of the weather), but they did. Has anyone gone at that time? Is is bearable with a long wet suit? We may go on Dec. 21 instead. Any thoughts? Thanks!

One other thing: Can anyone give me info on the lunch items & Anheuser Busch beverages at Discovery Cove? I read the sticky, but I'm curious about the specifics. Thanks for your input!

I recommend going the 21st, it is a great experience. I have never been that time of year but being that it is during the holidays (my favorite time of year) I think it would be that much more special!
The lunch is great. It is all freshly prepared and that have salads, burgers, salmon, chicken, hot dogs, chicken tenders, fries and vegetables. The desserts are impressive also! Beverages at Discovery Cove include, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Water, Bud Light, Bud Select, Bud Light Lime and Budweiser. Did you have any specific questions about the food or drinks I can help answer for you?

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Is the food buffet-style or is it table service? We're happy either way, but DH is curious. I'm really excited about being able to experience this. We're going to get the long wet suits, so I think we'll be okay w/ the weather. Thanks again.

The food is served buffet style. I usually go every December but I am going on a cruise this December. I went on the coldest day last year and boy was it cold but you seem to forget about it since you are having fun. You will enjoy it and the food is yummy :)

We are going on Feb 15th. I just paid off our ressie for the 3 of us. So excited!

I am guessing we'll want the long wet suits as well? Although the weather has been gorgeous and quite warm on some of our past Feb. trips... either way, I can't wait!

We went to DC Dec. 20, 2007 and it was warm enough for the short wetsuits. We originally had reservations for Dec. 17th, but it was going to be really cold that day and we changed them. You get 1 complimentary date change- maybe you could take advantage of that and wait and see what will be the warmest day. The dolphin and stingray water is pretty cold, but the pool/lazy river is very warm. Have fun! It was so emotional seeing my daughter swimming with the dolphins because it was something she had always wanted to do. The whole time we were doing our dolphin swim I just couldn't believe we were really there!

You're welcome! The food is buffet-style and it is delicious! You will be fine with the weather, that is what the wet suits are for - it is a great experience, I am excited for you! Let me know if you have any other questions before you go. Have fun!

we are going December 19 and can not wait. We are so excited!

That is so exciting! How long ago did you book your tickets? Have you been to Discovery Cove before? If you have any questions before you go, I would be happy to help you out!

When I check the availability now, they have the 19th and 20th available, but not for promotion, only at full rate.
Every Wednesday and Thursday are not available until the Christmas holidays. Are they closed those days?

the price falls quite a lot after new year on the 4th jan, we booked 2 swim and 2 non swim for total of $496 (could have got it for $400 with code but my girl got ill and ended in hospital for 3 weeks and code run out before I got back on to book Aghhhh!). But take note there are now only 101 places left for that date as it is the first cheep date after xmas, also I think a lot of others used the code for that day!!

mackay_j, how can you know there are 101 places left?

I have been keeping a eye on the number as we have family who are thinking of coming out to meet up with us and may want to join us there for the day.

If you put in the nuber of dolphin swims you want as more than 101 then it will come up as no availability. When I started checking there were 505 place left and that was only 13 days ago- so they are going down quite quickly- but there is much more availability for every other of the days between 22nd dec until 3rd jan expt 25th which is almost full

Oh, thanks for the tip. This can help me choose the calmest day.

most days over xmas- newyear will fill completely, but they will still seem quite (ish) when you are there, we have never found it too busy even when it was sold out.
