Debt Dumpers 2026

I think that's the way to go as well-and I would use a card that at minimum charges no fee, at best it also pays me back. the basic no fee american express card (blue cash everyday card) has a benefit wherein if you set up your Disney+, Hulu or some kind of ESPN streaming to pay from your card you can get up to a $7 statement credit each month.
I think you need a pretty high credit score to qualify for an Amex card.

yeah, not sure what they require but since it's the same card that was the standard issue to costco members when costco had their contract with amex I'm guessing it might not require the higher scores some of their cards do.

According to Google, 670. If I were in his shoes I would just focus on paying down all debt (his car loan interest rate is horribly high) and hold out until his score gets higher and get a card with travel perks. At least then he could be accruing points or miles or whatever to maybe reward themselves with a pre-paid vacation when they're done.

I wouldn't go looking for travel perk based cards if my short term goal was to get out of debt/long term was to save both more than a $1000 emergency fund/work towards saving to get a house. the travel perk cards of any 'value' always seem to come with an associated fee and I hate paying any kind of a fee for a card-the only reason I was recently willing to upgrade on my amex to a fee based was b/c the statement credit offer covered more than 2 years of fees and then the Disney+ monthly credit combined with 3% back by using it to pay for any of my streaming services more than covers it on an annual basis. the 6% back on groceries was the real appeal-i'm letting that pile up and plan to use it annually in November and December when I spend more than I traditionally budget on a monthly basis.

Tomorrow's payday! I'll be paying off the small balance on my Lane Bryant card and paying off a bill for some old traffic fines. 🤦‍♀️ I just got hit with that a couple of weeks ago. They were incurred 8 years ago and I never knew that I owed on them. *sigh* I take full responsibility, but it's annoying because I was going to put that money toward 2 other cards w/small balances that will now have to wait until next month.

On the personal side, my husband and I are going to start walking a few days a week after work, before it gets too hot here. I desperately need to build up my cardio for our cruise in June. Last April's cruise was nice, but not as enjoyable as it would've been if I'd been in better walking shape.

Good luck! I need to do the same before our WDW trip in April. Our winter was brutal so I didn’t walk for months. The last 2 weeks finally warmed up & dried up, so I went a few times. But we’re back below freezing with rain & snow flurries again for the next week. :headache: My husband doesn’t mind the cold so he’s gone out much more than me. We’re staying at CR & BWI so I’ll be in better shape after the trip anyway.

Seriously. We went for 8 days for our honeymoon in April 2023 and the first 4 were awful for me with all of the walking. The last 4 were much more manageable 😂

This is awesome. I walked around the neighborhood last night for the first time this season. I'd been walking inside to Youtube videos during the winter. But it was fairly nice, albeit a bit cool 70 degrees. But I'm wanting to build up to maybe 3 miles a day. No reason other than to get healthy. We don't have any plans of vacation this year. It's simply to get healthy.
