The driveway repair saga continues......... Started getting quotes in April, chose one for $2700 and change. Wasn't sure if it was repair or resurface, though, so DH had the guy come out a few days ago to go over what would be happening since it would be repaired next month. Now he said end of September since Oct. starts rainy season (yah, he didn't know that in April?). So we were like, ok, no problem. We have most of it saved so we'll pull the rest out of savings and repay that. On this meeting, we asked if he would also be sealing the porch area (not raised, but next to the driveway so it would look strange with the color difference), he said no problem. Might add 1 or 2 hundred to the cost - we were fine with that. He re-measures the driveway while here while explaining what we can expect and lets us know he'll send the new quote with the porch sealing. DH called me from work yesterday: got the email, new quote is $5700, but he won't charge us tax??!!!! WTH?! I told him he needed to find out why the quote more than doubled only 2 weeks from the job being done. The guy said he was "repairing spots in all the squares now". In April he said he would only be doing 3 squares since the teeny holes in the others were miniscule and not necessary. DH said he will have to talk to the guy in person now, and if he holds firm on this we will not be able to get the driveway repaired before winter. DH thinks he may have raised it because he met me and probably thinks I work as well - and that we have way more money than he thought. I don't really know, but if he holds firm we will be finding someone else to do the job and will have to wait until spring - and hope the driveway doesn't get too much worse. I blame this guy if it does. Phooey.
