I just have a feeling it may get ugly![]()
I sure hope not. Sending good vibes your way for this to be resolved quickly and without added stress.

I think there is a special Murphy just for cars.So I didn't find a bank yet. And we were in a car accident last week. So lots of checks going out there and the looming increased premium even though we were not at fault. Murphy right?

It's been a bit of a week already. Two months ago, a friend of ours who lives in China asked if he could stay with us for a couple of days before he starts a 6 week trip. We said of course, then never heard anything again. Monday morning, I wake up to a message that he is arriving Wednesday (today) at 7:30a and will be here until Sunday, but might be going further south to visit other friends. I could not pin him down on how long he is staying here, what flight number he had...nothing concrete except the arrival time.
This morning, we left at 7a to head to the airport to get him. I noticed that the car sounded funny as soon as it started, but DH disregards me on anything car-related as I don't drive. We're about to get on the freeway when the gas gauges go crazy, all the dash lights start flickering. We were able to JUST pull out of the way and off the road when the whole car died. Turned on the hazards, but they died. Fortunately we have AAA and they were there in less than 30 minutes and towed the car to our garage. DSIL was just leaving for work and was able to come get us so we could use her car.
Meanwhile, I am frantically messaging our friend to keep him updated. By the time we got DSIL's car, it was 2 hours after his flight landed. No contact. Now I am worried. We go home to check if there was anything wrong with the flights. Nope, landed okay and exactly on time. Still no word. I start messaging mutual friends. Finally DH gets a message: our traveler was directed to a bus that let him off in the next town over. We collected him and all is well.
Except for a dead battery and alternator. Whee!!! ::eye roll::
I just wanted to share I have paid off my first debt for 2016 - $932.01 off a interest free cc just days before it would have reverted to interest
Its just the first drop in my ocean of debt but it sure was a good feeling transferring that money![]()
Yep. I would say in general that is true. But it looks like my post was the exception that proved the rule.
Yep. I had pretty much talked myself out of getting any tickets. Pretty much.Since I would need to put them on a CC.
My only real disagreement with the suggestion of "buy what I can with what money I have saved by March 31" is that just about every penny of expected income is allotted to the dept reduction - no saving. Though, I guess, technically, I could use the other half my tax refund that was going to be used to pay down one of my DVC balances. It would give me a few tickets, and I would still be able to pay the balance down from the other incomes I'll get later in the year.

Woohoo!! Congratulations!! Wish I could report the same, but my first cc of the year won't be paid off until March!
My realtor did a land title search on my dad's house and it turns out my evil step mother is not on title, only my dad was. She could still contest this/fight it, but as of right now, this works in my favour. I fear this estate will take ages to settle though so we are not counting our chickens and just going forward as if there was no money at all coming our way (because we might end up getting nothing).
I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I don't understand your dad's comment about the fuel system... how would not filling your tank totally full cause your carburetor to freeze up? Plenty of people don't fill their tanks completely full when they go to the gas station, and other don't use that much fuel so their cars may sit with half full tanks for quite a while...

Yes, simply a dead battery wouldn't cause it to stop while the engine is running. The alternator is what recharges the battery while the engine is running. When that dies, the engine stops then behaves like the battery is dead.I was thinking alternator! Glad that you got in touch with your friend!
@bababear_50 oh my goodness, what an ordeal!! I'm sorry you've gone through that - continue to go through that. Horrible. Death is hard enough but when all the teeth come out and people just want money money money.....ugh.

Either way, so frustrating!
That takes 4 YEARS off the life of my loan. Crazy...
