My boyfriend and I started a challenge today to see who can lose the most weight in 30 days. I plan to use this journal as a way to document my exercise and to track my weightloss. My primary goal is to exercise everyday for the next 30 days, alternating cardio with strength training. I also want to eat healthier. My plan is to increase lean protein, significantly decrease white carbs (bread, rice, sugar, potatoes), increase water intake, and eliminate alchohol.

I know my plan my sound a little extreme with a goal to exercise everyday, but I only plan to keep up that frequency for the next 30 days. For 30 days I can do it!! :D

I think db will likely win the prize (dinner wherever his heart desires), but if we both become healthier than we will both be winners. If I become firmer, my goal will be reached regardless of what the scale says.

Stats:
DBF 172.5 pounds 5' 10"
Me 125 pounds 5' 2"
 
Day One: 66 minutes on the precor (elliptical trainer). Whooo Hoooo! That is reportedly 538 calories burned!!! :hyper: ::yes:: :teeth:
 

Wow Girl! That is ambitious! And Welcome to Wish! It seems to me that you do not have much weight to lose but being healthier is always a great goal! You are off to a wonderful start with your exercise!

Day 4: Cardio Sculpt (FIRM BSS1)

I feel good! I already feel stronger in my arms and legs. :D

I have a question for you. Did you take measurements at the start? If not, I'd suggest you do so now. You are doind some really weights/muscle intensive workouts. You may find that you don't lose that many pounds, but some major inches. You might lose more inches than your boyfriend. Keep up the great work, and good luck in the contest.

Strings, I haven't measured. That is something I probably should do! Your point is very well taken. I really do want to get stronger and leaner rather than to be so focused on the scale. Thanks for the luck. :smooth:


Day 5: Your Personal Best Workout with Elle Macpherson (Karen Voight is actually the instructor).

This is an older video but it is one of my favorite total-body workouts. It involves a lot of athletic moves and the Hawaii scenery doesn't hurt either. ;)

I think tomorrow will have to be a pure cardio day to give my muscles a rest. My goal is to go to the gym before work. Lets see how that goes.
 
Day 7: Body sculpt

First week weigh-in:
Me: 123 (2 pounds lost)
DBF: 170 (2.5 pounds lost)

Yea for both of us!!

Day 9: Fat Burning Blast! For how short this tape is (25 minutes) you sure do get a lot of bang for your buck. I really like how the high impact moves allow you to increase the intensity of the exercise. If I push myself during this tape, I really break a sweat.

Day 10: I actually went to the gym this morning before work. I did 66 minutes on the precor!!

Day 10 makes a third of the way towards my goal. I'm proud of myself!! :D

I actually think I'm almost ready to move up to 10 pound weights! :D
