Deborah's 30 Day Challenge (comments welcomed!) Final Weigh-in

Great job, Deborah! Body Sculpt is a real killer--especially the lower body section (honestly--how many leg presses can one do?!):scared:

Ooooooo, The Melting Pot and Sambuca Jazz Cafe sound like yummy places (mmmmmm...Sambuca!), and I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead in your gorgeous red dress! WAY TO GO!:cool1:

Have a safe and happy July 4th!

Day 21: Body Sculpt (lower body).

I exercised last night at 11 pm. Yesterday I started getting ready for a garage sale I plan on having next weekend. Its my first - I didn't realize how much work it will be. It will be great to have less clutter though!

Happy 4th everyone!!

Hi Deborah:

Hope you're having a great 4th of July. I forgot to add this to my post... You should tell your boyfriend that instead of competing for the total number of pounds lost, you should count the percentage of total body weight lost. For instance, you'd only need 12.5 pounds to lose 10% of your original weight....he'd need to lose 17. It may mean a little more math, but may mean you get to have dinner wherever your heart desires.

Hi Deborah!:wave2:
You are doing a great job with exercising!::yes:: I hope you have a wonderful garage sale this weekend! We are having one Thursday- Saturday and look forward to making some extra money for WDW. Have a great Monday!

Tracy:wave2:

I didn't know that having a garage sale would be this much work! But I am going through everything I own and getting rid of 33 years of junk (and nice stuff I have just never used).

I probably should have exercised every morning because for the last several days by the time I exercised I was pooped! I highly doubt I will lose this week since I have done almost no cardio. I am proud of myself for at least doing something everyday though. Before the challenge, if I had something that was consuming my time there is no way I would have even given exercise a thought.

Day 22: Body Sculpt (upper)

Day 23: Ab Sculpt

Day 24: Yoga for Dummies

Last night it was 11:45 before it even occured to me to that I needed to exercise. I was exhausted so I picked a video that I knew would be relaxing (and almost feel asleep during the last pose - relaxation pose!). Its only the second time I did the Yoga vide and I liked it more this time than last. The instructor is wonderful but they have these stupid tips that pop up with annoying sounds that are distracting.

In some ways it is hard to believe that yoga is even considered exercise. It is so relaxing. If practiced regularly however, I can see how the balance moves would increase muscle strength. And it definitely would increase flexibility. I may actually look into getting a different yoga or pilates tape. This one is more instructional than something you can actually use regularly.

Hi Deborah!

You must be exhausted between getting ready for your yard sale and all your exercise! I bet you're burning some extra calories with all the running around you're doing!

Great job getting in your workouts--even at 11:45 at night!:faint: If you have an extra second sometime (and I know you don't get many of those!) I'd love to hear about Fat Burning Blast and Your Personal Best workouts--I've never heard of them before and I'm always looking something new and interesting to shake things up a bit! But no rush--I know you're really busy!:)

Keep up all you awesome work, Deborah, and have a lovely day!:sunny:

That is probably because they are so old - from 1994 and 1996! It feels like I have had them both forever.

Fat Burning Blast is comprised of two short workouts by Denise Austin. The first one is a complete waste. The second one - the one I do - is interval training. I like this video for two reasons. It is very short which is good for days when I don't have much time. Secondly, it has quite a few moves during the aerobics section that are high impact - which basically means you can make it as intense as you want by how high you jump. In my opinion, this is an excellent tape for beginners. The weight training is just too limited to make a real impact unless you are not in shape at all.

Your Personal Best Workout is probably my favorite full body workout - primarily because of the beautiful scenery and the athletic moves it uses. Karen Voight as the instructor is one of the best. Elle McPherson doesn't bother me - I actually kind of like her but I know many find her annoying. It is also interval training. It is good for beginners to intermediates.

Luvmydogs, I honestly don't know if you would find either challenging enough. Your Personal Best is just a fun workout for me - it involves moves from football, kickboxing, swimming, jump roping, skating, and basketball.

I'm also doing a list on paper by date and I just realized that list and this list are a day off from each other. Not sure where I messed up.

Day 26: Buns of Steel 3: Buns and More

This is the oldest exercise tape I own. I found it cleaning this week. I used to love this tape! Its basically 40 minutes of squats, lunges and leg lifts (different types) plus a little ab work. This is definitely a killer lower body workout and gives Body Sculpt significant competition for best lower body. Tamilee Webb has an amazing body. If I could trade my body in, I might pick hers. :D The down side: its from 1991 and looks every bit of it.

Day 27: Crunch: Brand New Butt

Another old tape I found. I'm definitely not selling it! :D

Hi TigerBear!:sunny:

Thanks for the workout descriptions! I've read some really good reviews of Your Personal Best--I'm glad you like it!

Your challenge is almost at an end, isn't it? You have done an amazing job keeping up with all your exercise committments--I bet you're noticing a difference in your strength and muscle tone! WAY TO GO DEBORAH!:)

This is your yard sale weekend, yes? I hope you have really nice weather and make lot$ and lot$ of money!

Have a lovely weekend, Deborah, and congratulations on all your hard work!

My lesson for this weekend - garage sales are exhausting! I made over $500 at my garage sale though so I think it was worth it, but I probably will never do it again.

I'm definitely off on counting my days. Friday I did a ton of yard work (mowing, weeding, cutting tree branches and shrubs) and yesterday was the big day. No time either day for official exercise, but considering how physically exhausted I was both days I think they count as workouts. Even just moving everything outside in the morning yesterday was a chore. I got rid of half of the furniture I own!

I bought a new yoga dvd today (Yoga Mind And Body) so I'll do that tonight. Tomorrow is the official end of the contest but we have decided to wait until Friday to weigh in and celebrate. I have a feeling neither of us has lost much. But, we have both been much more consistent about exercising which is a good thing.

I like my new yoga dvd but it was hard! There was one pose that I could not do at all. I'm betting with practice I'll get better. I also ordered another yoga dvd from amazon today! :D

Our final weigh-in was Friday night. DBF lost 4 pounds and I lost 3.5 pounds. I'm proud of us both! He had made dinner reservations at Sambuca without telling me. :D

Yesterday we did a new yoga dvd together (Yoga Zone: Stretching and Stress Release). I'm surprised how much I am enjoying yoga!

Hi TigerBear!:wave2:

Congratulations to you and DBF on both your successes! I think it's great that you and he are working out together--it's so nice to have a supportive partner!

Have a wonderful night at Sambuca and I'm sure you'll look just stunning in that gorgeous red dress!princess:
