Being that Off Kilter doesn't play today and the first showing of Masquerade isn't until 12:55, I had a few hours free this morning to (*gasp*) go outside Epcot! So, without too much thinking, I decided to head to Downtown Disney.
I need to explain a little here before going on. There was a Little Mermaid pin art cel I had seen in the Art of Disney Store in DTD a few months ago, and for some strange reason, I passed it up. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie, and I collect anything related to that movie. The reason I didn't buy it was because of the cost - I couldn't justify $55 plus shipping back home for it. I regreted not buying it when I last saw it, so I made myself a deal. I have been on a diet since January (I have lost almost 40 pounds so far and am still going), and chocolate is my one huge downfall. I promised myself that if I could stay away from chocolate, I would buy myself that piece of artwork. And, it worked! I haven't had any form of chocolate in over 2 months, and I no longer get cravings for it. Being a woman, that's not an easy thing to do!
So, my soul purpose for heading to DTD was to pick up that piece of art. I got there early, and headed to the Art of Disney Store first thing. Hooray - the cel was still there! So, $75 later, I had my weight loss reward. On my way out, I spotted another Little Mermaid piece of art that I fell in love with. Now, I have a new goal - if I can stay away from chocolate until my next trip, I will buy myself that as a reward! This system seems to be working, so I can't complain! And, for the record, I haven't eaten any chocolate while here in WDW, and I'm trying hard to not eat any either. The temptation is definately there, but I'm avoiding it!
So, after doing some more shopping in DTD (where I bumped in to an old CM friend), I headed back to the Dolphin for some much needed rest. It was very, very hot today (it was in the high 80's by 10:00AM, and eventually reached 95 today, with close to 100% humidity), so the heat zapped my energy.
I had just gotten back to the room when housekeeping knocked on my door. Noooo! I'm so ready for a nap!
I left the room anyhow and went downstairs to Tubbi's to fill up my refillable mug. I sat in Tubbi's for about 20 minutes and came back to the room. The housekeeper was gone, so I turned on the TV and rested for a bit.
Finally, at 4PM, I headed back out. What a hot day! I was drenched in sweat by the time I got to Epcot. Yikes! I went through quite a bit of water today - between all that water and my LM cell, my budget took a big hit today!
After a few shows of Masquerade, I finally sat down for ToD. Both performances were excellent as always, and this was definately the highlight of my day. Hooray for no winds today! (The first ToD last night was cancelled because of the wind, and some of the puppets were cut out of the second one.)
Following ToD, I came back to the room, checked e-mail, and here I am! Tomorrow: another DIS meet and ToD!
