Debbie’s Watermelon Trip Report Day 6 – ‘Cause I’m Special!

Cast of Characters – Debbie (Me) 21, full time college student, part time babysitter.

My day today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday: missing the bus to Downtown Disney, staying all day in Epcot, etc. There is only one main difference: I somehow got a nasty stomach bug today, and spent a lot of non-touring time in the bathroom.

The morning started off pretty well, as I headed to the bus stop to head to Downtown Disney.

After waiting about 45 minutes for a bus, I gave up and decided to take a walk around Crescent Lake. As I missed my usual breakfast of Pop Tarts and Sprite, I was pretty hungry, so I made a quick stop in the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast. They have great cheese Danishes there!

By this point, it was close to 10:00AM, time for Epcot to open. As I was waiting for Epcot to open is when my stomach started to cramp. I don’t know if it was a case of having a bad cheese Danish, having heat stroke (it’s been hot this week!), dehydration, or something else, but I ended up with a not so pleasant case of diarrhea this morning.

I finally made it in to Epcot, and headed to Mouse Gear to find a photo album for my pictures. I’m a photographer on the side, so I am always looking for a nice album for my photos. I found one that I liked, bought it, and realized that I was actually starting to get hungry! So, I thought I’d take a walk back to the Dolphin, drop of my purchases in my room, and grab something to eat in Tubbi’s.

Because it was only 11:30, World Showcase wasn’t yet open. I asked the CM at the rope drop if I could be let through, as I was going to the Dolphin. No problem, she said! As I was let through, I heard a little girl say, “Why can she get in?” The CM explained that I was going back to my hotel, but it was hard not to feel weird walking through WS alone. Watermelon! Or, as my title says, ‘Cause I’m special!

I dropped my album off in the room and went downstairs to Tubbi’s. I got a salad there, and barely managed to finish half of it before I had to make another run to the bathroom. Bad idea! So, I rushed back to my room, only to find housekeeping making up my room. Grrr! They had just started, so while I was in the bathroom, they made up the bed and vacuumed.

I then headed out and back to Epcot. On my way there, I encountered our own SideshowBob. What a pleasure it was to see him! After talking to him for about 5 minutes, he had to get back to work, and I had to get to Canada for Off Kilter!

I arrived back about 12:30, and took a seat and tried to rest. I was able to talk to another guest there, Dave, for the hour before OK started.

Rather than go in to detail about the OK show (I’ve been through this a few times before J ), I’ll just skip to the end of the show. I had started to feel a bit better, and since I had an hour and a half before the next show, I decided to take a walk over to Test Track.

The posted wait time was 90 minutes and Fastpasses were gone for the day, so what’s the only alternative? Single rider’s line! As I was walking through the line, I got a lot of nasty stares from people that don’t understand the single rider’s line. I felt a bit of happiness about being able to take advantage of this (watermelon!), but also felt a bit like “’Cause I’m special!” People just don’t understand that there are options to waiting in line!

Test Track gave me some energy back, so I high stepped it back to Canada for the 3:30 show.

Okay, skip now to about 6:30. OK’s final show had just ended, and I went up on stage to say goodbye to the band. Tony (the keyboardist) first came over and hugged me, wishing me a safe trip home. He had to leave quickly after the show, so I really didn’t have a chance to talk to him. I then talked to Randy (the lead guitar player) for a while, and finally said goodbye to him. He too hugged me and wished me a safe trip home (I leave Saturday). As I was walking away, a teenage girl asked me if I was related to anybody in the band. I must have looked confused, because she told me that because I was talking to OK, she thought I was related. No, I told her, I was just a fan and have recently started to really talk to them after the show. Watermelon!

By this point, my stomach was really bothering me, so I decided to skip ToD tonight – something I have NEVER done. In the 2.5 years ToD/ToN has been running, I have never missed a night, but I am feeling so horrible I pretty much had no choice.

I stopped on the way back to the room to pick up some film I had dropped off this morning, and then came back to the room. The photos look great, and I’m really excited! As I sit here with my tummy rumbling, I have my balcony door open so that I can at least listen to ToD.

Tomorrow: my final day in WDW. Will I EVER make it to DTD? Stay tuned!

I'm sorry that you got sick.
