Debbie Meyer Green Bag thoughts

We tried them and found that they work a little better if you place them in the refrigerator. We had some asparagus in one of the green bags on the counter and the bag "sweat" so much the asparagus was moldy really fast! We didn't buy another box of the bags .... not worth the $$$.

The best way to store asparagus in upright in a about an inch or two of water at room temperature.

I seem to recall someone's kid did a comparison of Green Bags versus ziplocs or something for a school science fair, and found that Green Bags were not any better.

Do you reuse them? I've got them and I really don't want to have to throw them away after one use. I like them for lettuce.

Yes, you can reuse them several times. Just rinse and then dry them. We found everything except bananas last much longer in these bags. We are not throwing away veggies and fruit now. Love them. :goodvibes

I tried these and also saw my bananas go bad faster than outside the bags. (and no, not refrigerated). My lettuce was worse than in the bag from the store. Didn't seem to work for me at all.

Anyone try the ones from HSN?

I tried these based on a recommendation from my MIL and hated them. My bananas (also non-refrigerated) went bad much faster. I tried them with cherries in the refrigerator and they sweat so much (fruit was not washed first) that they went bad faster too. I used 2 of the bags and will not be using the rest.

I use the Rubbermaid Produce Savers too and I LOVE them. I had lettuce in one for 2 weeks and it was still green and crisp, NOT slimy at all. I have never tried the green bags.

I did... what an expensive disappointment. Not only don't f/v do any better, but the bagels and English muffins I put in gold bags got moldy way quicker than normal.

Produce is not something I buy ahead......I try to have enough for 2-3 days....just works better for me.
