Debating going again in October--would you?

My ex has decided not to have the kids for fall break, which means I have another opportunity to take the kids to S. Cal and go to MHT again, which we've done the last 3 years. We just went to DL in July so I'm sure many of my family/friends think I'm crazy to even think about it. But we got APs for the first time in February, when we were there for a wedding and the ex and I were still together and we thought we'd be making our annual October trip later in the year. I'd need to make it a cheap trip so we'd stay with my grandparents in Huntington Beach and just be paying for gas, food, and MHT tickets. My main reservation is the 10 hour drive. Would you do it again? They get 3 days off of school so I'd probably pull them out one more day and drive Tuesday and do Wed-Thurs at DL and Friday at the beach and with my grandparents. This will be the last time I can use the APs since I can't afford to fly all 4 of us down there right now and I don't want to drive it in the winter. We'll probably only go once next year with regular passes. Am I crazy?

Go! Get the use out of the APs! I also live in Utah and just bought APs (well I have the tickets from Costco that I will be redeeming in a few weeks) and I hope to get as much use from them as I can, even if it means long drives for short weekends. I'll take what I can get!

Hmmmmm, an opportunity to go to DL . . . . Yup! It makes sense because of your AP status. Your kids might need a pick-me-up too, the same as you!
Our break in school happens at parent teacher conferences. Luckily, we can do those early and we have a good student. It is in October and it is a great time to go with all of the decorations and festivities. Can't wait for the new fireworks. I'm sure you will want to see them too!!!

You're asking people on a Disney board who love Disneyland if you should go again? Well, heck YA! I went in April, June and Sept and I'm thinking of going again next month too. You might as well make good use of those AP's, that's what I say! Go and have a good time, especially if you can make it a cheap trip!

Go! Like you said, it is the last opportunity you will have to use your APs before they expire. Take advantage of the fact you have family in the area to stay with and have a really great time with the kids. I'm assuming its been a tough year for all of you...enjoy the retreat from reality and be a kid for a couple of days, all of you.

Anytime you can make use of your AP's - go! Especially since you have a place to stay and can eat fairly cheap. The kids will love having that one-on-one time with Mom. The drive will go fast enough - borrow a DVD player and play Disney movies the whole way. Leave really early and you could even squeeze in some time that night to really start of the trip right! Have fun!

i live out here in california and ill tell you this --- if your going early october you should be relatively fine.. but the season changes drastically during mid to late october. The closer you are to halloween the colder and rainier it will be in probability.

I went in April to WDW with friends, couldn't resist taking my family in June, and then sweet-talked my husband into an escape weekend with just my youngest for October. and I don't even have AP or family in LA to justify it! My friends and family think we are total nuts. but there you are.

yes, we are crazy, but do it for yourself and the kids. Sounds like you can do this realitively cheap and you should get use out of the AP while you can (that's sensible. ) and seeing family is always a good idea after a breakup
