LARABABE said:A four-year old died after riding Mission Space. I know the autopsy report is pending, however I would like to hear about this ride from people who have been on it. It is the ride that my 11 yr. old son is the most excited to ride.
I know, and it's very tragic that the child died... but...
Should I be worried? Is it really that bad?
No and Depends.
This is my favorite ride at Epcot. I've gone on it several times IN A ROW

Keep in mind that you are for the most part only hearing from the people who do. The people who don't have any problems tend to not be as vocal as the ones who do.
Unless your child has motion sickness or any pre-existing medical conditions, he should be fine. I'd be shocked beyond belief to find out that this boy who died did not have any sort of prior illness, detected or no.
Now for the ride itself. LISTEN TO THE DIRECTIONS. This can not be stressed enough. Looking from side to side or closing your eyes will make you feel dizzy. I did this the first time I rode and I felt awful afterwards and almost did not go back on. But then I rode again and kept my focus straight ahead and was fine.
The worst part is the blast off. The rest of the ride is very calm. The blast off is the only part where you feel much. After that, you just feel kind of weightless. The blast off can make you feel like there is a lot of pressure pushing down on you, but in most people, as long as you stare straight ahead and keep your eyes open, that part is over before it starts to make you feel too off balance.
Everyone is different. But really, there is not any need to worry about this ride. This child, sad as his death is, is one rider (and one who IMO, was way too young to be riding M:S but I guess he met the height requirement...) out of thousands every month and the worst thing most people complain of is some stomach turning. I think once we find out the boys cause of death, we will find out that there was something wrong long before he got onto the ride, the poor baby.
